Inhibition of the immune microenvironment is the main cause of tumor recurrence after surgery in patients with gastric cancer (GC). In this study, immunohistochemistry and multiple immunofluorescence staining were used to evaluate immunosuppressive indicators and immune biomarkers in 825 patients with gastric cancer from three centers. We constructed an immunosuppressive recurrence score (IRS) using LASSO Cox regression based on the expression of six immunosuppressive indicators and found that the IRS and IRS-based nomogram were significantly accurate and reliable in predicting recurrence.

New Findings: What is the central question of this study? Is the expression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) elevated in chronic altitude patients, and are they related to thrombosis in chronic mountain sickness? What is the main finding and its importance? The expression of PDGF and TXA2 in both the bone marrow and the peripheral blood of patients with chronic mountain sickness is elevated, and they are considered to be correlated in the mechanism of thrombosis in the chronic mountain sickness.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) along with platelet parameters and coagulation indices in chronic mountain sickness (CMS) patients and healthy individuals on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The levels of PDGF and TXA2 were examined in 22 CMS patients (age, 52.

LHPP, a histidine phosphatase, has been implicated in tumour progression. However, its role, underlying mechanisms, and prognostic significance in human gastric cancer (GC) are elusive. Here, we obtained GC tissues and corresponding normal tissues from 48 patients and identified LHPP as a downregulated gene via RNA-seq.

Background: The three- and four-part fractures of the proximal humerus are often combined with rotator cuff injury, and shoulder joint replacement is often selected clinically. The concept of "shoulder preservation" can greatly restore the function of the shoulder joint through internal fixation of the proximal humerus fracture and rotator cuff suture. This study investigated the clinical effect of the concept of "shoulder preservation" in the treatment of three- and four-part fractures of the proximal humerus.

Dendritic cells (DCs), a type of antigen-presenting cells (APC), are recognized as an important regulator of immune response and immune tolerance, and play a critical role in the host innate immunity and adaptive immunity. Previous studies have shown that the long-term parasization of in the host is strongly associated with the host immune tolerance induced by DCs. This review summarizes the research progress of the role of DCs in host immune tolerance caused infection, aiming to provide the theoretical basis and insights into the management and immunotherapy of infections.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the rate of clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula (CR-POPF) after radical gastrectomy and identify its risk factors.
  • The analysis involved 2089 patients across 22 centers in China, revealing a 1.1% incidence of CR-POPF, with specific independent risk factors being pTNM III stage and the use of LigaSure.
  • The findings suggest that while biochemical leakage is common, it rarely leads to severe complications, indicating a generally effective management approach in experienced surgical centers.

Imaging and serological approaches play an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of alveolar echinococcosis; however, they also suffer from some problems during their applications in clinical practices, which urges the identification of potential diagnostic markers. Novel serological, genomics and proteomics diagnostic markers alone or in combination may increase the sensitivity and specificity in early diagnosis of alveolar echinococcosis, which play vital roles in monitoring of disease courses and prognostic evaluation. This review mainly presents the advances in the studies on novel diagnostic markers for alveolar echinococcosis.

RNA modification is a type of post-transcriptional modification that regulates important cellular pathways, such as the processing and metabolism of RNA. The most abundant form of methylation modification is RNA N6-methyladenine (m6A), which plays various post-transcriptional regulatory roles in cellular biological functions, including cell differentiation, embryonic development and disease occurrence. Bones play a pivotal role in the skeletal system as they support and protect muscles and other organs, facilitate movement and ensure haematopoiesis.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) accounts for the main esophageal cancer (ESCA) type, which is also associated with the greatest malignant grade and low survival rates worldwide. Ferroptosis is recently discovered as a kind of programmed cell death, which is indicated in various reports to be involved in the regulation of tumor biological behaviors. This work focused on the comprehensive evaluation of the association between ferroptosis-related gene (FRG) expression profiles and prognosis in ESCC patients based on The Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO).
