Parkinson's disease (PD) often causes dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), affecting 35%-82% of patients, leading to nutritional issues and severe complications like pneumonia.
A study conducted from March 2021 to June 2023 involved 64 PD patients, divided into two groups: one receiving tongue acupuncture and the other using a therapeutic instrument for swallowing disorders.
Results showed that the tongue acupuncture group had better swallowing function and nutritional status, with a higher effectiveness rate and fewer complications compared to the control group.
