Encouraging insight into novel underlying mechanisms targeting abnormal biological pathways in colorectal cancer (CRC) are currently under investigation, edging closer and closer to clinical use. Of note, basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor 3 (BATF3) has been implicated with the tumorigenicity of CRC. The current study aimed to elucidate the oncogenic BATF3-mediated S1PR1/p-STAT3/miR-155-3p/WDR82 axis in CRC.

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an important histological subtype of breast cancer. Abnormal GPER expression has been reported in human breast cancer. However, the functional mechanism of GPER through carcinoma-associated fibroblast (CAF) in TNBC needed further investigations.

It is well-known that imbalance state of glucose metabolism triggers many metabolic diseases and glucose uptake in skeletal muscle accounts for 90% of body weight. Geniposide is one of the major natural bioactive constituents of gardenia fruit, and the regulation of geniposide on glucose metabolism in skeletal muscle has not yet been investigated. Here, on the basis of microarray analysis, we discovered that geinposide decreased pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 4 (PDK4) expression in skeletal muscle of mice and subsequently found that geniposide inhibited the expressions of forkhead box O1 (FoxO1), PDK4, and phosphorylated pyruvate dehydrogenase in vitro and in vivo.

Purpose: To compare the differential diagnostic values of F-Alfatide II PET/CT between tuberculosis and lung cancer patients and in patients with sarcoidosis and common inflammation.

Methods: Nine inflammation patients (4 tuberculosis, 3 sarcoidosis, and 2 common inflammation) and 11 lung cancer patients were included in this study. All patients underwent F-FDG and F-Alfatide II PET/CT within 2 weeks, followed by biopsy and surgery.

Background: Glioma remains the most common cause of brain cancer-related mortality. Glioma accounts for 50-60% of brain cancer. Due to their low toxicity and infrequent side effects, traditional herbs have been increasingly popular.

The exploration of electroactive labelling with tailorable and strong differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) responses is of great importance in accurate and sensitive screening of a panel of biomarkers related to cancer. Herein, shell-encoded gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) are fabricated and give rise to shell species-dominated DPV peak potentials. Two independent DPV peaks appear at -0.

To determine whether dexmedetomidine (Dex) improves oxygenation and lung mechanics in patients with moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) during lung cancer surgery.
Methods: Fifty-six patients with moderate COPD were randomly allocated to a control group and a Dex group (n=28 each). In the Dex group, dexmedetomidine was given as an initial loading dose at 1.

Objective: The purposes of this study were to evaluate the feasibility of a purely endoscopic intradural approach to the suprasellar, petroclival, and ventrolateral brainstem regions through a subtemporal keyhole and to assess the value of neuronavigational assistance in the Kawase approach.

Methods: Twenty endoscopic intradural subtemporal keyhole approaches were performed on 10 cadaveric heads. An intradural Kawase approach and a navigation-assisted intradural Kawase approach were then carried out on a random side of each specimen.

Aberrant expression of B7-H4 occurs across a broad spectrum of human cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate the key role of B7-H4 during tumorigenesis and metastasis of human lung cancer. Our data showed that the shRNA-mediated disruption of B7-H4 markedly inhibited tumor cell proliferation, invasion and migration, increased cell apoptosis and arrested cell cycle at G0/G1.

Laboratory of Molecular Imaging and Nanomedicine, National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA.

Purpose: We report the biodistribution and radiation dosimetry of an integrin αvβ3 specific PET tracer (18)F-AlF-NOTA-E[PEG4-c(RGDfk)]2) (denoted as (18)F-Alfatide II). We also assessed the value of (18)F-Alfatide II in patients with brain metastases.

Methods: A series of torso (from the skull to the thigh) static images were acquired in five healthy volunteers (3 M, 2 F) at 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, and 60 min after injection of (18)F-Alfatide II (257 ± 48 MBq).
