Background: Venetoclax (Ven) combined with intensive chemotherapy was proven effective in the management of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, the severe and prolonged myelosuppression remains a concern to worry about. To explore more appropriate combination regimens, we designed Ven combining daunorubicin and cytarabine (DA 2 + 6) regimen as induction therapy, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety in adults de novo AML.

While demyelination is the most common etiology of longitudinally extensive myelopathy, other causes are important to recognize. In this study, we present the case of a longitudinal cervical lesion with a very rare cause. We discuss the approach to the differential diagnosis and workup for longitudinal myelopathy.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a result of a complex interplay between genes, host immune response, gut microbiota, and environmental factors. As one of the crucial environmental factors, diet plays a pivotal role in the modulation of gut microbiota community and the development of IBD. In this review, we present an overview of dietary patterns involved in the pathogenesis and management of IBD, and analyze the associated gut microbial alterations.

Postoperative neurocognitive impairment (POCD) is a common complication after surgery and anesthesia, especially in elderly patients. Avenanthramide-C (AVC) test is a vascular endothelial cell adhesion molecule inhibitor with strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect and mechanism of AVC on POCD in aged rats to clarify the effect of AVC on POCD in aged rats.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The objective of this study was to compare the long-term bowel symptoms between laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (LRH) and abdominal radical hysterectomy (ARH) in patients with cervical cancer.

Methods: A total of 207 patients who underwent radical hysterectomy (79 underwent LRH and 128 underwent ARH) at Peking University First Hospital from January 2010 to August 2020 were enrolled and their bowel symptoms were investigated using the Colorectal Anal Distress Inventory-8 (CRADI-8) of the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20. The prevalence and severity of bowel symptoms were compared in the LRH and ARH groups, and multivariate analysis was performed to determine the factors associated with bowel symptoms.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the long-term sexual function of patients with cervical cancer who underwent treatment and to explore influential factors.

Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted at Peking University First Hospital in (Beijing, China). A total of 207 patients, who were diagnosed with Stage IA-IIA cervical cancer and had undergone surgical treatment (some patients had also been treated with adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy) between January 2010 and August 2020, completed questionnaires via telephone.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the macular retinal vessel density (VD) of diabetics with high myopia, diabetics without high myopia, and healthy controls.

Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited type 2 diabetic (T2D) people with no history of ocular treatment in our hospital. Thirty T2D people with high myopia (30 eyes) were included in group A, while 30 T2D people (30 eyes) without myopia were included in group B.

Objective: The current diagnostic methods for multiple myeloma (MM) include bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, which are not only complicated but also invasive, causing great pain to patients. Micro ribonucleotides (miRNA) exist stably in circulating plasma and could be easily detected, making them promising specific diagnostic markers for MM.

Methods: The expression of plasma miR-448 in MM patients was detected by real-time quantitative PCR analysis.

Background: Osteosarcoma (OS) is a malignant bone tumour of mesenchymal origin. These tumours are characterised by rich vascularisation, therefore promoting rapid proliferation and facilitating metastasis. CD44 has been reported to be involved in OS, but its role and molecular mechanisms in the pathogenesis of the disease are not fully determined.

With the aging of the population, there are more and more degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine that accompany osteoporosis. Lumbar degenerative osteoporosis has also become fragile and high in incidence, which has also attracted the attention of experts and scientists in related fields. Degeneration of the lumbar spine often causes pain in the waist and surrounding patients and even affects their life safety.

Background: The present study aimed to use magnetic resonance (MR) to explore the dynamic changes of the ischiofemoral space (IFS) under the triaxial motion of the hip joint and verify the clinical test mechanism for ischiofemoral impingement (IFI).

Methods: A prospective design was used to screen 37 patients with clinically confirmed IFI, which included a total of 67 lateral hips, and 39 healthy controls with a total of 69 lateral hips. A dynamic MR examination was performed in positions designed by a simulated IFI test (adduction, adduction with 30° external rotation, 30° internal rotation, supine with 30° flexion, and prone with 30° backward extension).

Colonoscopy is an effective method for screening colorectal cancer and adenoma, but the adenoma detection rate depends on the quality of bowel preparation. Our study investigates the influencing factors of the quality of bowel preparation before colonoscopy in outpatients and the influence of the number of walking steps on the quality of bowel preparation. We prospectively collected the clinical data of 150 outpatients undergoing colonoscopy in our department in 2019.

An improved nonlinear weighted extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) technique is developed to forecast length of stay for patients with imbalance data. The algorithm first chooses an effective technique for fitting the duration of stay and determining the distribution law and then optimizes the negative log likelihood loss function using a heuristic nonlinear weighting method based on sample percentage. Theoretical and practical results reveal that, when compared to existing algorithms, the XGBoost method based on nonlinear weighting may achieve higher classification accuracy and better prediction performance, which is beneficial in treating more patients with fewer hospital beds.

Objective: The purpose was to study the monitoring effect and application value of two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) on myocardial function in patients with malignant lymphoma after treatment with anthracyclines.

Methods: 50 patients with malignant lymphoma treated in our hospital from June 2017 to December 2019 were randomly selected and were treated with anthracyclines to compare the cardiac global longitudinal strain (GLS), global radial strain (GRS), global circumferential strain (GCS), left ventricular twist (LVtw), GLS × LVtw, and changes of atrioventricular inner diameters before and after 3 cycles of treatment. According to the pathological examination results, the accuracy of 2D-STI in the detection of changes in myocardial function of patients was also clarified.

Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is highly contagious and continues to spread rapidly. However, there are no simple and timely laboratory techniques to determine the severity of COVID-19. In this meta-analysis, we assessed the potential of the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as an indicator of severe versus nonsevere COVID-19 cases.

Studies performed in the last two decades have identified microRNA (miR)-1298-5p to display tumor-suppressive functions in several types of malignancy. In addition, the regulatory role of E2F transcription factor 1 (E2F1) has been reported in multiple types of cancer, including breast cancer (BC). However, whether miR-1298-5p participates in BC progression and whether a regulatory association exists between miR-1298-5p and E2F1 remains to be explored.
