This editorial reviews advances in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treatment, focusing on a triple therapy approach and biomarker discovery. Zhang discuss the synergistic potential of transarterial chemoembolization combined with tyrosine kinase inhibitors and PD-1 inhibitors. Meanwhile, Li identify protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor II (PTPN2) as a biomarker for poor prognosis and immune evasion in HCC.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant hematological tumour for which pharmacological treatments such as protease inhibitors, immunomodulators, and steroids are commonly used, but most MM cases still relapsed or become refractory. Autophagy is a type 2 cell death mechanism that plays a key role in MM progression, including biphasic regulation that promotes MM cell survival or facilitates its death. In this paper, we review the changes of MM cells' autophagic activity and its effect on cell proliferation and apoptosis during drug action, aiming to analyse the role of autophagy pathway in drug treatment of MM and provide relevant ideas for targeting autophagy in the treatment of MM.

This editorial takes a deeper look at the insights provided by Soresi and Giannitrapani, which examined the therapeutic potential of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease. We provide supplementary insights to their research, highlighting the broader systemic implications of GLP-1RAs, synthesizing the current understanding of their mechanisms and the trajectory of research in this field. GLP-1RAs are revolutionizing the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and beyond.

Background: The molecular biology mechanisms underlying postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) remain unclear, resulting in a lack of specific therapeutic targets and limited clinical treatment options. The NLRP3 pyroptotic pathway, induced by neuroinflammation, is known to promote the development of POCD. Research has shown that lncRNA MEG3 exacerbates cell pyroptosis in various neurological injuries, though the precise mechanism remains to be investigated.

In this editorial, we review the work of Razali published in , with a particular focus on the effect of rs10889677 variation in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway and buparlisib on colitis-associated cancer. The role of PI3K in promoting cancer progression has been widely recognized, as it is involved in regulating the survival, differentiation, and proliferation of cancer cells. The complement Clq/TNF-related protein 6 (CTRP6) is a newer tumor-associated factor.

The neuroimaging mechanisms underlying differences in the outcomes of sound therapy for tinnitus patients remain unclear. We hypothesize that abnormal hierarchical architecture is the neuro-biomarker for treatment outcome explanation. We conducted functional connectome gradient analyses on resting-state functional MRI images that acquired before intervention to investigate differences among the patients with effective treatment (ET, n = 27), ineffective treatment (IT, n = 41), and healthy controls (HC, n = 59).

The aim of this study was to systematically investigate structural and functional alterations in amygdala subregions using multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with tinnitus with or without affective dysfunction. Sixty patients with persistent tinnitus and 40 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited. Based on a questionnaire assessment, 26 and 34 patients were categorized into the tinnitus patients with affective dysfunction (TPAD) and tinnitus patients without affective dysfunction (TPWAD) groups, respectively.

Objective: This study analyzed and explored the relationship between isthmic spondylolisthesis and disc degeneration by comparing the degree of disc degeneration in patients with isthmic spondylolisthesis, lumbar disc herniation, and asymptomatic healthy individuals.
Methods: This study included a total of 138 cases, consisting of L5-S1 single segment lesion patients and a normal lumbar spine population. The cases were divided into 3 groups based on the type of disease: fifty eight cases in the isthmic spondylolisthesis (IS) group, 50 cases in the lumbar disc herniation (LDH) group, and 30 cases in the normal lumbar vertebrae (NLV) group.

To Compare the effects and safety of lumen reshaping after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) for Stanford B type aortic dissection (AD) at different intervention times. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 189 patients with Stanford type B aortic dissection treated with TEVAR at the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical College from January 2016 to December 2020.Based on the time from onset to surgery, patients were divided into an early intervention group (≤14 days, =127) and a delayed intervention group (>14 days, =62).

Idiopathic tinnitus is a common and complex disorder with no established cure. The CAABT (Cochleural Alternating Acoustic Beam Therapy CAABT), is a personalized sound therapy designed to target specific tinnitus frequencies and effectively intervene in tinnitus according to clinical tinnitus assessment. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of the CAABT and Traditional Sound Therapy (TST) in managing chronic idiopathic tinnitus.

Objective: Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 3 (CIN 3)-like SCC is a recently identified deceptive growth pattern that closely mimics endocervical crypt involvement by CIN 3. As CIN 3-like SCC is indistinguishable from endocervical crypt involvement by CIN 3, it poses a significant challenge for pathologists.
Method: We examined 23 cases of CIN 3-like SCC, 6 of which also had concomitant conventional invasive SCC, and 9 cases of endocervical crypt involvement by CIN 3 as a control group.

In patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), about 25%-35% of patients have a history of other hematological diseases, 10% of patients have a history of malignant tumors in other systems and have received cytotoxic treatment including chemotherapy and/or radiation, and the disease is categorized as therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (t-AML) according to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of tumors of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues. Two subsets of t-AML are generally recognized based on the nature of prior treatments and the characteristics of the disease. The most common type occurs after exposure to alkylating agents and/or radiation, with a latent period of 5 to 10 years.

Background: Timely identification and intervention of psychological disorders bear significant import in ameliorating the ensuing therapeutic trajectories in primary bone tumor patients. Moreover, perturbations in thyroxine and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels have been linked to manifestations of depressive and anxiety-related symptoms. However, the precise interplay governing the nexus of anxiety, depression, and the levels of thyroxine and TSH within the context of primary bone tumor patients remains presently unexplored.

Providing effective, efficient, safe, and patient-centred tobacco cessation treatment to reach those who need them is a significant challenge. To date, only a few nationwide studies in China have assessed the overall clinical care practice and treatment outcome of tobacco cessation.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is currently the third leading cancer and commonly develops from chronic intestinal inflammation. A strong association was found between gut microbiota and intestinal inflammation and carcinogenic risk. Flavonoids, which are abundant in vegetables and fruits, can inhibit inflammation, regulate gut microbiota, protect gut barrier integrity, and modulate immune cell function, thereby attenuating colitis and preventing carcinogenesis.

Soluble low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1 (sLRP-1) plays a crucial role in facilitating inflammation, lipid accumulation, and atherosclerosis, and the latter factors are involved in the pathology of cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to explore the ability of plasma sLRP-1 for reflecting stenosis degree in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients. sLRP-1 was detected from plasma by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in 169 ACS patients and 77 non-ACS subjects (as controls) after admission.
