Purpose: Radiation-induced pneumonitis (RIP) seriously limits the application of radiation therapy in the treatment of thoracic tumors, and its etiology and pathogenesis remain elusive. This study aimed to elucidate the role of ubiquitin-specific peptidase 11 (USP11) in the progression of RIP and the associated underlying mechanisms.
Methods And Materials: Changes in cytokines and infiltrated immune cells were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays and immunohistochemistry after exposure to 20 Gy x-ray with whole-thorax irradiation.
Tuberous sclerosis complex 1 (TSC1) plays important roles in regulating innate immunity. However, the precise role of TSC1 in macrophages in the regulation of oxidative stress response and hepatic inflammation in liver ischemia/reperfusion injury (I/R) remains unknown. In a mouse model of liver I/R injury, deletion of myeloid-specific TSC1 inhibited AKT and MST1 phosphorylation, and decreased NRF2 accumulation, whereas activated TLR4/NF-κB pathway, leading to increased hepatic inflammation.

Background: Cardiovascular disease is a major complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). Type-2 DM (T2DM) is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events and mortality, while serum biomarkers may facilitate the prediction of these outcomes. Early differential diagnosis of T2DM complicated with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) plays an important role in controlling disease progression and improving safety.

Purpose: Previous reports argue that preoperative sleep conditions of patients can influence the dosage of general anaesthesia drugs. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the dose-effect relationship of preoperative sleep disorders on the induction of general anaesthesia with remimazolam tosilate and calculate the Median effective (ED50) and 95% effective (ED95) dosages.
Methods: Included in our study were 56 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at our hospital.
Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has become a vital regulator in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis (OP). This study aimed to investigate the role of lncRNA DLEU2 in the development of proliferation and apoptosis of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs). High-throughput sequencing in bone tissues from 3 pairs of healthy donors and OP patients was used to search for differential lncRNAs.

Background: It is uncertain whether adjunctive thrombolysis is beneficial for patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 120 minutes of presentation. This study was to determine whether in patients presenting with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction a single bolus recombinant staphylokinase (r-SAK) before timely PCI leads to improved patency of the infarct-related artery and reduces the infarct size.
Methods: This is an open-label, prospective, multicenter, randomized study.

ALKBH5 plays critical roles in various cellular processes via post-transcriptional regulation of oncogenes or tumor suppressors in an N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-dependent manner. However, its function in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) remains unclear. In the present study, bioinformatic analyses of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data were performed, and the association of ALKBH5 in predicting overall survival in patients with ICC was investigated.

NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is closely related to silica particle‑induced chronic lung inflammation but its role in epithelial remodeling, repair and regeneration in the distal lung during development of silicosis remains to be elucidated. The present study aimed to determine the effects of the NLRP3 inflammasome on epithelial remodeling and cellular regeneration and potential mechanisms in the distal lung of silica‑treated mice at three time points. Pulmonary function assessment, inflammatory cell counting, enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay, histological and immunological analyses, hydroxyproline assay and western blotting were used in the study.

Background: The rumen of neonatal calves has limited functionality, and establishing intestinal microbiota may play a crucial role in their health and performance. Thus, we aim to explore the temporal colonization of the gut microbiome and the benefits of early microbial transplantation (MT) in newborn calves.
Results: We followed 36 newborn calves for 2 months and found that the composition and ecological interactions of their gut microbiomes likely reached maturity 1 month after birth.

The protein S-nitrosylation (SNO) is a significant post-translational modification that affects the stability, activity, cellular localization, and function of proteins. Therefore, highly accurate prediction of SNO sites aids in grasping biological function mechanisms. In this document, we have constructed a predictor, named PPSNO, forecasting protein SNO sites using stacked integrated learning.

Background: The association between waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) with hypertension has not been adequately explained, so in this study we sought to clarify the predictive role of WHtR on the incidence of hypertension as well as the potential nonlinear associations in the general population.
Methods: In this large prospective cohort study, a total of 4,458 individuals from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) were included in the analysis. Multivariate Cox regression analyses, subgroup analyses, receiver operator characteristic (ROC) and restricted cubic spline (RCS) analyses were used to examine the association of WHtR with the risk of new-onset hypertension.

With the development and progress of society, people's average life expectancy has increased, and relevant literature reports that the number of postmenopausal women in China continues to increase. With lifespans extended, the transition period and post-menopause period have become the longest essential period in every woman's life. The life quality of women troubled by perimenopausal syndrome has been significantly reduced, which also places a burden on families and society.
