Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignancy of liver cells. Recent studies have shown that HCC patients often have changes in the activities of transporters and metabolic enzymes, which can considerably affect drug pharmacokinetics and lead to drug toxicity. Doxorubicin (DOX) has been frequently administered in chemotherapy for HCC, but to our knowledge, the effects of HCC on the pharmacokinetics of DOX are unknown.

To evaluate the long-term effect and safety of chrono-chemotherapy combined with intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). 160 patients with locally advanced NPC were randomly divided into a chrono group and conventional group according to random number table. In the first stage, all patients underwent two cycles of induced chemotherapy, consisting of docetaxel, cisplatin and 5-Fu every 21 days.

Ischemic stroke is a common cerebrovascular disease caused by insufficient blood supply to the brain. In recent years, studies have demonstrated that microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in a variety of biological processes in the nervous system. However, the effects of miR-202-5p on cerebral ischemic stroke injury have not been completely elucidated.

Background: This study was aimed to evaluate the involvement of lncRNA MALAT1 in modifying chemo-sensitivity of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) cell lines.

Methods: Totally 108 pairs of tumor tissues and matched para-tumor normal tissues were gathered from patients who were pathologically confirmed as LSCC. Meanwhile, LSCC cell lines, including TU686, TU177, AMC-HN-8, and LSC-1, were purchased to evaluate their tolerance to cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil, paclitaxel, and vincristine.

Background: Glioma is a lethal malignant brain tumor, which affects the brain functions and is life-threatening. LncRNA UCA1 was identified as a pivotal regulator for tumorigenesis of glioma. MiR-206 was discovered to promote tumorigenesis and is critical in the regulation of cell proliferation in glioma.

Aloe-emodin, an anthraquinone present in aloe latex, has been shown to have anti-proliferative properties in cervical cancer disease, all cases of which are almost caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), with the products of E6/E7. It is suggested that aloe-emodin may play an important role in HPV-induced cervical cancer cells. Hela and SiHa cells were treated with various concentrations of aloe-emodin.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer‑associated mortality in the 21st century. microRNA (miR)‑23b has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of many cancers, including breast and prostate cancer. However, the role of miR‑23b in HCC remains unclear.

Objective: Primary liver cancer is a sort of the most common solid tumors occurred in the digestive system. The incidence and mortality rate maintain at a high level, thus leading to heavy economic and psychological burdens for patients. Next-generation biological therapy, such as cellular immune treatment, improves the medicine efficacy.

BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most important cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Pirfenidone is an orally available small molecule with therapeutic potential for fibrotic diseases. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, we analyzed the effects of different pirfenidone concentrations on the proliferation of HepG2 HCC cells using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) and colony formation assays.

Ischemic cerebral stroke is a leading cause of death and long-term disability world-wide. Neuronal injury following cerebral ischemia initiates a complex series of signaling cascades that lead to neuronal cell death. MicroRNA 29b (miR-29b) has reported involvement in the pathogenic process of ischemic brain injury.

Background: Adoptive T cell therapy has been proven to be a promising modality for the treatment of cancer patients in recent years. However, the increased expression of inhibitory receptors could negatively regulate the function and persistence of transferred T cells which mediates T cell anergy, exhaustion, and tumor regression. In this study, we investigated increased cytotoxic activity after the blockade of PD-1 for effective immunotherapy.

Cisplatin resistance is still one of the main reasons for failure of clinical therapy for cervical cancer. But the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in cisplatin resistance of cervical cancer have still remained unclear. Recent studies reported that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are novel nonprotein-coding transcripts, which might play a key role in cancer biogenesis and prognosis.
