Carbon ion beam is radio-biologically more efficient than photons and is beneficial for treating radio-resistant tumors. Several animal experiments with tumor-bearing suggest that carbon ion beam irradiation in combination with immunotherapy yields better results, especially in controlling distant metastases. This implies that carbon ion induces a different anti-tumor immune response than photon beam.

Introduction: In rare occasions, coxsackievirus infections can cause serious illness, such as encephalitis and myocarditis. The immunotherapies of cancer could increase the risk of myocarditis, especially when applying immune checkpoint inhibitors. Herein, we report a rare case of Coxsackie B virus-induced myocarditis in a patient with a history of lymphoma.

Bladder cancer (BC) is a common and malignant tumor of the urinary tract, and its treatment options are limited. Tectoridin (TEC) has antitumor activity against prostate and colon cancer, but its effects on BC are poorly understood. BC cells were treated with increasing concentrations of TEC, and its effects on cell proliferation, migration, invasiveness, and apoptosis were assessed.

Immunotherapy is currently one of the most viable therapies for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), characterized by high immune cell infiltration. The Wnt-signaling inhibitor and immune activation mediator, Dickkopf-1 (DKK1), has a strong correlation with tumor growth, tumor microenvironment, and, consequently, disease prognosis. Nevertheless, it is still unclear how DKK1 expression, HNSCC prognosis, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes are related.

Objective: Pre-treatment enhanced CT image data were used to train and build models to predict the efficacy of non-small cell lung cancer after conventional radiotherapy and chemotherapy using two classification algorithms, Logistic Regression (LR) and Gaussian Naive Baye (GNB).
Methods: In this study, we used pre-treatment enhanced CT image data for region of interest (ROI) sketching and feature extraction. We utilized the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) mutual confidence method for feature screening.

Objective: The application value of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) texture analysis combined with apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in predicting pelvic lymph node metastasis of prostate cancer was explored.
Methods: The clinical and imaging data of 151 patients with prostate cancer admitted to The Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from November 2019 to November 2021 were retrospectively analysed. According to the final pathological diagnosis results, they were divided into two groups: Metastasis group (n = 63, pelvic lymph node metastasis) and non-metastasis group (n = 88, no pelvic lymph node metastasis).

Background Hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) can be divided into proliferative and nonproliferative types, which may have implications for outcomes after conventional transarterial chemoembolization (cTACE). Biopsy to identify proliferative HCC is not routinely performed before cTACE. Purpose To develop and validate a predictive model for identifying proliferative HCCs using CT imaging features and to compare therapeutic outcomes between predicted proliferative and nonproliferative HCCs after cTACE according to this model.

The thymus is the main immune organ in the body. However, the thymus gradually degenerates in early life, leading to a reduction in T-cell production and a decrease in immune function. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a promising alternative for the treatment of thymus senescence due to their homing ability to the site of inflammation and their paracrine, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.

In recent times, RNA modifications have garnered increased attention due to their involvement in the onset and progression of tumors, with N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification being the most prevalent form. YTHDF2 is an m6A reading protein that can modulate RNA stability, transcription, and translation. This study aimed to explore the role of YTHDF2 in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) by collecting 20 SCLC patients from our hospital (cohort 1) and 48 Chinese SCLC patients from the GEO database (cohort 2).

The E3 ligase F-box only protein 28 (FBXO28) belongs to the F-box family of proteins that play a critical role in tumor development. However, the potential function of FBXO28 in pancreatic cancer (PC) and its molecular mechanism remain unclear. In this study, we examined FBXO28 expression in PC and its biological role and explored the mechanism of FBXO28-mediated proliferation, invasion, and metastasis of PC cells.

Exosomes are lipid bilayer-enclosed vesicles, actively secreted by cells, containing proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and other substances with multiple biological functions after entering target cells. Exosomes derived from NK cells have been shown to have certain anti-tumor effects and potential applications as chemotherapy drug carriers. These developments have resulted in high demand for exosomes.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is a common digestive cancer, and its prognosis is poor. Myosin 1E (MYO1E) is a class I myosin family member whose expression and function have not been reported in PAAD. In the present study, bioinformatics analysis was used to explore the expression levels of MYO1E in PAAD and its prognostic value, and the immunological role of MYO1E in PAAD was analyzed.

The pathogenic mechanisms of pancreatic cancer (PC) are still not fully understood. Ubiquitination modifications have a crucial role in tumorigenesis and progression. Yet, the role of MINDY2, a member of the motif interacting with Ub-containing novel DUB family (MINDY), as a newly identified deubiquitinating enzyme, in PC is still unclear.

Background: QL1706 (PSB205) is a single bifunctional MabPair (a novel technical platform) product consisting of two engineered monoclonal antibodies (anti-PD-1 IgG4 and anti-CTLA-4 IgG1), with a shorter elimination half-life (t) for CTLA-4. We report results from a phase I/Ib study of QL1706 in patients with advanced solid tumors who failed standard therapies.
Methods: In the phase I study, QL1706 was administered intravenously once every 3 weeks at one of five doses ranging from 0.

Purpose: To evaluate the correlation between microvascular density (MVD) and intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters and the effect of glycolytic flux after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) in a rabbit VX2 liver tumor.
Materials And Methods: VX2 liver tumor allografts in 15 New Zealand white rabbits were treated with sterile saline (control group, n = 5) or lipiodol-doxorubicin emulsion (experimental group, n = 10). MRI was performed 2 weeks after the procedure to evaluate IVIM parameters, including apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), pure diffusion coefficient (D), pseudodiffusion coefficient (D*), and perfusion fraction (PF).

Exosomes are membranous vesicles actively secreted by almost all cells and they deliver certain intracellular molecules, including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids, to target cells. They are also considered to be good carriers for drug delivery due to their biocompatibility, high permeability, low immunogenicity, and low toxicity. Exosomes from immune cells were also reported to have immunomodulatory activities.

The purpose is to compare the clinical efficacy and toxicity of etoposide plus lobaplatin (EL) or etoposide plus cisplatin (EP) with concurrent thoracic radiotherapy during the treatment of limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC). Forty-two patients with LS-SCLC were randomly divided into EL ( n = 19) or EP ( n = 23) regimens combined with thoracic intensity-modulated radiotherapy. The primary endpoint was 1-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate.
