The aim of the present study is to examine whether patients' racism toward nurses increases as the invasiveness of treatment rises. This study was conducted in Israel, a highly conflictual society where Jews and Arabs live together and meet in the same health facilities.

The Need to Adjust the Informed Consent for Jewish Patients for Treatments Involving Porcine Medical Constituents.

In order to obtain full informed consent for medical treatments, it is imperative to provide patients of diverse ethnic backgrounds with all relevant information. Since the pig is considered an impure animal in Judaism, Jewish patients may wish to be informed of porcine-derived substances used in treating. The present study is the first to explore the level of knowledge of Jewish participants as to whether the medical use of pig is permitted by their religion, and the extent to which they believe it should be permitted.

Sperm donors versus long-term mates: a comparison of preferences of heterosexual and lesbian women.

The present study aimed to explore whether lesbian women's preferences for a sperm donor or a long-term mate show a pattern similar to those of heterosexual women. Three hundred and eighty-three donor insemination patients, of whom 278 were heterosexual and 105 were lesbian, completed a questionnaire comprising a series of 35 traits and rated the importance of each trait in a sperm donor and again in a long term mate. Results showed that traits relating to socioeconomic status, genetic background and general health, physical appearance, and personality were rated by lesbian women as more important in a long-term mate than in a sperm donor.

Undiagnosed and untreated sleep disorders are associated with diminished health for the individual and increased costs for the employer.

The double gender bias in parental kidney donation among Muslim Arab patients.

Previous studies showed that it is usually the mother who agrees to donate her kidney to a child with an end-stage renal disease, while the fathers tend much less to donate. The present study sought to explore decision-making regarding which parent would donate a kidney to their child. Interviews were conducted with twenty-five mothers and six fathers who donated a kidney to their child.

Transplant coordinators play a pivotal role in the process of obtaining consent for live or dead donation of organs. The objective of the project is to unveil emotional experiences and ethical conduct of transplant coordinators using a qualitative research methodology. Ten transplant coordinators who have worked for more than 20 years in this job were recruited by using a purposive sampling technique.

Brief digital sleep questionnaire powered by machine learning prediction models identifies common sleep disorders.

Introduction: We developed and validated an abbreviated Digital Sleep Questionnaire (DSQ) to identify common societal sleep disturbances including insomnia, delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS), insufficient sleep syndrome (ISS), and risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Methods: The DSQ was administered to 3799 community volunteers, of which 2113 were eligible and consented to the study. Of those, 247 were interviewed by expert sleep physicians, who diagnosed ≤2 sleep disorders.

The study aim was to better understand sleep and sleep-related factors affecting everyday executive capacities and academic performance among healthy adolescents. Purpose: This study was aimed at investigating the delivery continuum starting from constant personality variables and their association with Fear of childbirth (FOC) pre-partum, following the association of FOC pre-partum with the delivery process (as measured by birth outcome variables and subjective experience) and the effect of all of these variables over FOC post-partum.

Methods: In this prospective questionnaire study, 101 nulliparous, singleton pregnancy, healthy parturients were randomly recruited during 2011. Questionnaires were administered on admittance to the delivery ward (FOC, anxiety-sensitivity index, demographic information) and 2 days post-partum (FOC, Big five inventory and a question regarding the birth experience).
