Maxillofacial bone defects exhibit intricate anatomy and irregular morphology, presenting challenges for effective treatment. This study aimed to address these challenges by developing an injectable bioactive composite microsphere, termed D-P-Ak (polydopamine-PLGA-akermanite), designed to fit within the defect site while minimizing injury. The D-P-Ak microspheres biodegraded gradually, releasing calcium, magnesium, and silicon ions, which, notably, not only directly stimulated the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) but also activated sensory nerve cells to secrete calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), a key factor in bone repair.

The main objective was to establish a prognostic model utilising long non-coding RNAs associated with disulfidptosis and cuproptosis. The data for RNA-Sequence and clinicopathological information of Colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) were acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas. A prognostic model was constructed using Cox regression and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator method.

Background: Despite some progress having been made regarding the treatment of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), the prognosis of T-ALL, particularly adult T-ALL, is still poor. Identifying novel, effective anti-T-ALL drugs is of great significance. Anlotinib, an oral tyrosine kinase inhibitor currently utilized in the treatment of lung cancer, exhibited a promising anti-T-ALL effect.

Severe inflammation and myogenic differentiation disorder are the major obstacles to skeletal muscle healing after injury. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role as regulatory molecules during the process of muscle healing, but the detailed mechanism of miRNA-mediated intercellular communication between myoblasts and macrophages remains unclear. Here, it is reported that myoblasts secrete miRNAs-enriched exosomes in the inflammatory environment, through which miR-224 is transferred into macrophages to inhibit M2 polarization.

Background: Double-eyelid surgery is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries performed in Asians. The palpebral marginal incision technique (PMIT) conceals the incision scar and creates natural-looking double-eyelids. However, the amount of eyelid skin removed by conventional PMIT is limited, which potentially results in an unnatural crease or inferior skin below the palpebral crease that appears swollen.

Identifying novel drug targets to overcome resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and eradicating leukemia stem/progenitor cells are required for the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). Here, we show that ubiquitin-specific peptidase 47 (USP47) is a potential target to overcome TKI resistance. Functional analysis shows that USP47 knockdown represses proliferation of CML cells sensitive or resistant to imatinib in vitro and in vivo.

Capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformations (CM-AVMs) caused by a RASA-1 or EPHB4 mutation are characterized as hereditary sporadic or multifocal capillary malformations (CMs), associated with potential fast-flow vascular anomalies underlying erythema lesions. Because of the similar phenotype, CM-AVMs should be considered in the differential diagnosis of isolated CMs as well as other disorders with an erythema phenotype, such as hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT).Herein, we report a male patient with facial erythema.

Objective: To introduce our experience in the treatment of arterial priapism by superselective embolization.
Methods: This study included 5 cases of perineal trauma-induced arterial erectile dysfunction treated in our departmentbetween February 2011 and May 2015, all failingpreviously to respond to 3 weeks of conservative treatment. The patients were aged 25-47 (mean 35) years, with the onset of arterial priapism at 2-5 days after trauma, and all subjected to physical examination, blood gas analysis, color Doppler ultrasonography of the corpora cavernosum, and IIEF-5 scoring.

Capillary malformation-arteriovenous malformation (CM-AVM) is a clinical entity newly identified in 2003 that is caused by mutation of the RASA-1 gene, which encodes the protein p120-RasGAP. To date, most of the clinical reports on CM-AVM in the literature involve samples entirely consisting of Caucasians of European and North American descent, while reports from China or East Asia are few. Here, we describe a genetic clinical report of CM-AVM.

In the present study, the expression level of microRNA-146a-5p (miR-146a-5p) in breast cancer tissue and cell lines was investigated and its effects on proliferation of breast cancer cells. miR-146a-5p expression was detected by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction in breast cancer tissues, paraneoplastic tissue (collected by The Department of Oncology of Changhai Hospital from January 2014 to June 2015), breast cancer cell line MCF-7 and normal breast epithelial cell line MCF 10A. Bioinformatics analysis was conducted to forecast target genes of miR-146a-5p, which was further verified by fluorescent reporter gene detection.

Nuclear respiratory factor-1 (Nrf1) and mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) are involved in the regulation of a variety of mitochondrial functional genes, which are associated with decreased sensitivity of tumor cells to chemotherapy. However, the expression status of Nrf1 and TFAM, as well as their clinical significance in breast cancer, is unknown. In the present study, tumor tissues and corresponding adjacent normal tissues were collected from 336 patients with breast cancer, and Nrf1 and TFAM expression was analyzed by immunohistochemistry using a tissue microarray.

The metabolic reprogramming is indispensible for the fast growth of tumor cells. The metabolism of CAFs is reprogrammed to aerobic glycolysis too. However, it is not clear whether this metabolic reprogramming promotes the growth of CAFs themselves.

Background: Recent studies highlight the role of DNA methylation in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). However, there is a paucity of studies exploring the role of blood-based DNA methylation in PD. We aimed to explore identifiable epigenetic biomarkers for PD by analyzing the methylation status of α-synuclein (SNCA) and leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) in leukocytes.

Objectives: To analyze variants of the craniofacial phenotypes in children with velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS) and children with cleft palates with a new protocol of landmarks using a three-dimensional computed tomography (CT)-reconstructed model in a cross-sectional group experimental design.
Materials And Methods: We present a retrospectively reviewed case series of 21 patients with VCFS, verified by short-tandem repeat techniques, and 20 children with cleft palate with age- and sex-matched controls from the Craniofacial Cleft Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the 9th Shanghai People's Hospital. The records during the period between January 2005 and December 2008 were analyzed.
