Discovery of novel serum biomarkers for diagnosing and predicting postmenopausal osteoporosis patients by 4D-label free protein omics.

We aimed to identify protein biomarkers that could rapidly and accurately diagnose osteoporosis patients (OPs) using a highly sensitive proteomic immunoassay. Four-dimensional (4D) label-free proteomics analysis was performed to determine the differentially expressed proteins in serum collected from 10 postmenopausal osteoporosis patients and 6 non-osteoporosis patients. The ELISA method was used to select the predicted proteins for verification.

Age and gender differences in vertebral bone marrow adipose tissue and bone mineral density, based on MRI and quantitative CT.

Purpose: To investigate the age and gender differences in vertebral bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) and volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD).

Method: A total of 427 healthy adults, including 175 males (41 %) and 252 females (59 %) with an age range of 21-82 years, underwent MRI and quantitative CT examinations of the lumbar spine (L2-L4), and the corresponding BMAT and vBMD values were measured. The age-related progressions of BMAT and vBMD in men and women were evaluated and compared.

Background: Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters are commonly used in China to prevent pulmonary embolisms in patients with deep vein thrombosis. However, IVC filter removal is complicated when the filter has penetrated the IVC wall and endovascular techniques usually fail. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of retroperitoneal laparoscopic-assisted retrieval of wall-penetrating IVC filters after endovascular techniques have failed.

Surgical treatment of Bennett's fracture is thus generally recommended for displaced intra-articular fractures to the proximal aspect of the thumb metacarpal. Fluoroscopic examination is used to evaluate the adequacy of closed reduction after pinning of Bennett's fracture.

Methods: The patients with ureteral stones were collected from 24 January to 24 March 2020 during the COVID-19 outbreak in Beijing.

In this study, we further observe the effects of OA on cell invasion of RCC and the potential mechanism by which OA worked was determined.

Removal of a broken acupuncture needle in retroperitoneum by laparoscopy: a case report.

Background: Acupuncture is a famous traditional medicine in China, but the complications caused by broken acupuncture needles have been rarely reported. It seems easy to remove the foreign matters usually, but things become difficulty in special issues. Here, we reported a recently encountered case to provide an important teaching point of treating a chronically retained broken needle in retroperitoneum.

In this case report, we presented a 28-year-old unmarried male who was admitted to the emergency room with magnetic balls in his bladder. An abdominal plain X ray showed metallic dense shadow in the pelvic region.

Objective: To investigate the correlation between non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and visceral adipose tissue in non-obese Chinese adults using computed tomography (CT).

Materials And Methods: The study included 454 subjects undergoing abdominal CT scan. Degree of CT attenuation in liver and spleen, and the degree of fat infiltration in liver were evaluated according to three indices: the attenuation value of liver parenchyma (CT), the attenuation ratio of liver and spleen (LS) and the attenuation difference between liver and spleen (LS).

In this study, to investigate the role of HIF‑1α and β‑catenin in the radioresistance of PCa, two PCa cell lines, LNCaP and C4‑2B, were grouped as follows: Negative control (no treatment), HIF‑1α overexpression group (transfected with HIF‑1α overexpression plasmid) and β‑catenin silenced group (transfected with HIF‑1α plasmids and β‑catenin-shRNA).

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to assess the functional connectivity of the motor cortical network in patients with brachial plexus avulsion injury (BPAI) after contralateral C7 nerve transfer, using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (RS-fMRI).

Methods: Twelve patients with total brachial plexus root avulsion underwent RS-fMRI after contralateral C7 nerve transfer. Seventeen healthy volunteers were also included in this fMRI study as controls.
