Previous investigations have reported that microRNA-126 (miR-126) and its host gene, epidermal growth factor-like domain-containing protein 7 (EGFL7) are involved in lung cancer progression, suggesting EGFL7 and miR-126 play a joint role in lung cancer development. In this study, we analyzed the methylation-associated regulation of EGFL7 and miR-126 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and further investigated the association between EGFL7/miR-126 polymorphisms and NSCLC susceptibility in the Han Chinese population. Based on our data, relative to those in adjacent normal tissue, both EGFL7 expression and miR-126 expression were decreased significantly in lung cancer tissue ( = 3x10 and < 1x10), and the expression of EGFL7 mRNA and miR-126 was significantly correlated in both NSCLC tissue n = 46, r = 0.

Developing guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of common cancers in China based on the evidence-based practice, the availability of diagnosis and treatment products, and the up-to-date advances in precision medicine is one of the basic tasks of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO). In recent years, the availability of medical resources has become a major concern in clinical guidelines, which is particularly important for developing countries or socioeconomically diverse countries and territories. China is the world's largest developing country, with a large territory and uneven economic and academic developments.

Background: DICER is a key RNase III enzyme that cleaves processes miRNAs into their mature form. It is remarkably down-regulated in most epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and the down-regulation is associated with high grade malignancy as well as poor clinical outcomes. In this study, we aimed to discover a lncRNA interacting with DICER to participate in the process of microRNAs maturation and as a result promoting development of EOC.

Diversity scaling (changes) of human gut microbiome is important because it measures the inter-individual heterogeneity of diversity and other important parameters of population-level diversity. Understanding the heterogeneity of microbial diversity can be used as a reference for the personalized medicine of microbiome-associated diseases. Similar to diversity , diversity scaling may also be influenced by host factors, especially lifestyles and ethnicities.

The host immune system plays a crucial role in multiple types of cancer, including non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP) protein heterodimer complexes might promote intracellular antigen peptide binding with class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC-I) molecules, and in recent years, TAP1 and TAP2 have been reported to be associated with multiple cancer risks. In the current study, we investigated the association of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TAP1 and TAP2 with NSCLC in a Han Chinese population.

Elevated Wnt/β-catenin signaling has been commonly associated with tumorigenesis especially colorectal cancer (CRC). Here, an MST4-pβ-catenin signaling axis essential for intestinal stem cell (ISC) homeostasis and CRC development is uncovered. In response to Wnt3a stimulation, the kinase MST4 directly phosphorylates β-catenin at Thr40 to block its Ser33 phosphorylation by GSK3β.

The host immune system plays an important role in infectious diseases and cancers. The heterodimer formed by transporter associated with antigen presenting (TAP)1 and TAP2 is responsible for intracellular peptide loading onto MHC-I molecules. Studies have shown that single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TAP genes might affect the expression and function of TAP and be associated with cancer risk.

Although chemotherapy, targeted therapy and endocrine therapy decrease rate of disease recurrence in most breast cancer patients, many patients exhibit acquired resistance. Hyperactivation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway is associated with drug resistance and cancer progression. Currently, a number of drugs targeting PI3K/AKT/mTOR are being investigated in clinical trials by combining them with standard therapies to overcome acquired resistance in breast cancer.

Pathology arising from the intrathoracic portion of the trachea (distal trachea), the carina and the main bronchi is usually neoplastic and is mainly treated with surgery. Resection of the intrathoracic portion of the trachea, the carina and the main bronchi for neoplastic lesions does not necessitate lung resection and is traditionally being conducted via open surgery. Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) is witnessing an exponential growth and is the treatment of choice for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Objective: Identify the prognostic value and investigate the association between programmed cell death 1 (PDCD1) gene expression and immune infiltration in pan-cancer.
Methods: We used a series of bioinformatics methods to comprehensively analyze the relationship between PDCD1 gene and prognosis, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), immune cell infiltration of various cancers from the existing public database, and try to find the potential prognostic value of PDCD1 for in pan-cancer.
Results: High expression of PDCD1 was closely related to better overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) in breast invasive carcinoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, skin cutaneous melanoma, and uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma; have a better disease-free interval (DFI) and progression-free interval (PFI) in several cancer types.

Proteasome subunit beta types 8 and 9 (PSMB8, PSMB9) play critical roles in the human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA I)-presenting system. Studies have suggested that polymorphisms in the PSMB8 and PSMB9 genes may influence the immune functions of PSMB8 and PSMB9, and thus be associated with various human cancers. We investigated associations involving single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs2071543 in PSMB8, rs1351383, rs17587 and rs2127675 in PSMB9 and risk of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer in a Chinese Han population.

Background: Antigen-processing machinery molecules play crucial roles in infectious diseases and cancers. Studies have shown that polymorphisms in endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase (ERAP) genes can influence the enzymatic activity of ERAP proteins and are associated with the risk of diseases. In the current study, we evaluated the influence of ERAP gene (ERAP1 and ERAP2) polymorphisms on susceptibility to cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical cancer.

Although microRNAs (miRNAs)-based cancer therapy strategies have been proved to be efficient and superior to chemotherapeutic agents in certain extent, the unstable properties of miRNAs significantly impaired the wide application. Therefore, how to safely deliver the miRNAs to the targeted site of action is the most pivotal step to achieve the ideal treatment effect. In the present work, the miR-128-3p, which is able of inducing chromosomal instability, was loaded into the nanocomplexes developed by the PEG-PDMAEMA (PDMAEMA-NP).

Activation of the phosphoinositide 3 kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway is frequently implicated in resistance to anticancer therapies. PI3K inhibitors can restore sensitivity to standard breast cancer therapies, including endocrine therapy, HER2-targeted agents, and chemotherapy. Our previous research showed that econazole, a novel PI3Ka inhibitor, inhibits the PI3K/AKT pathway and induces apoptosis in lung cancer cells.

: The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT signaling pathway is hyperactivated in lung cancer and regulates a broad range of cellular processes, including proliferation, survival, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Thus PI3K is considered a promising target for therapy. To date, PI3K inhibitors have not been approved for lung cancer.
