To evaluate the effects of endothelial cell-targeted soluble Notch ligand hD1R protein on the proliferation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells. The expression levels of Notch1, Notch2, Notch3, Notch4, Hes1 in bone marrow CD34(+) cells from 24 cases of untreated AML (AML group) and 9 healthy controls (control group) were determined by real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) . Recombinant hD1R protein was first induced and purified.

Background: HIV-associated encephalitis (HIVE) is one of the common complications of HIV infection, and the pathogenesis of HIVE remains unclear, while lncRNA might be involved it. In this study, we made re-annotation on the expression profiling from the HIVE study in the public database, identified the lncRNA that might be involved in HIVE, and explored the possible mechanism.

Methods: In the GEO public database, the microarray expression profile (GSE35864) of three regions of brain tissues (white matter, frontal cortex and basal ganglia brain tissues) was chosen, updated annotation was performed to construct the non-cording-RNA (ncRNA) microarray data.

This study observed the effects of early intravenous low-doses of metoprolol on cardiac sympathetic activities and electrophysiological properties in myocardial infarction (MI) dogs. Thirty two mongrel dogs with the first diagonal branch of the left anterior descending coronary artery ligated were randomly divided into three groups: The low-dose group was given metoprolol 0.6 mg/kg immediately by intravenous injection (n=12); the target-dose group was given metoprolol 1.

ACE-2/ANG1-7 ameliorates ER stress-induced apoptosis in seawater aspiration-induced acute lung injury.

Am J Physiol Lung Cell Mol Physiol

December 2018

Department of Respiration, Tangdu Hospital, Fourth Military Medical University, Xi'an , People's Republic of China.

Previous studies have shown that apoptosis of alveolar cells can be regulated by autocrine of angiotensin (ANG)II and its counter regulatory ACE-2/ANG1-7 axis. Our earlier study has shown that endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in response to seawater aspiration eventually led to apoptosis in lung tissue. In this study, we examined the hypothesis that ER stress-induced apoptosis in seawater aspiration-induced acute lung injury (ALI) might also be regulated by the ANGII/ANG1-7 system.

Background: Over-expression of spinal protein kinase Cγ(PKCγ) contributes to the induction of persistent bilateral hyperalgesia following inflammatory injury, yet the role of spinal PKCγ in short- and long-lasting pain behavior is poorly understood.

Objective: This study aimed to characterize the contribution of spinal PKCγ to spontaneous pain and long-lasting bilateral hyperalgesia in formalin-induced inflamed mice using pharmacological inhibition.

Study Design: Laboratory animal study.

Objective: The objective of this paper was to reveal hub pathways in primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBL) based on multiple pathway crosstalk networks (PCNs) and give insight for its pathological mechanism.

Materials And Methods: Based on gene expression data, pathway data and protein-protein interaction data, background PCN (BPCN) and tumor PCN (TPCN) of PMBL were constructed. The rank product algorithm was implemented to identify hub pathways of BPCN and TPCN.

  • Celastrol is a compound with multiple therapeutic functions, including anti-inflammation, and has been used to treat various conditions like rheumatism and skin diseases.
  • A study on Celastrol's effects on glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) in rats showed it reduced several markers of bone degradation and stimulated bone formation.
  • The research indicates that Celastrol's protective effects against GIOP may involve the PI3K/AKT and Wnt signaling pathways, highlighting its potential as a treatment for osteoporosis.

Nuclear factor κ-light-chain-enhancer of B cells (NF-κB) is one of the most important tumorigenic factors. Although it has been established that NF-κB is overly activated in human glioma cells, the molecular mechanisms that lead to the signal transduction to NF-κB and thereby the induction of resistance to apoptosis remain poorly understood. The present study demonstrated that mRNA and protein levels of E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase 2 (MIB2) were markedly upregulated in glioma cell lines and clinical samples.

c Department of Cardiovascular and Geriatric Medicine, Kyushu University Beppu Hospital, Beppu, Oita, Japan.

Systemic peroxidation status has been reported as a pathogenic factor for multiple sclerosis (MS). Systemically elevated oxidation levels are associated with serum lipid peroxidation and somatic telomere length (TL) shortening. We investigated whether vitamin E (VE) administration suppresses peroxidation and improves clinical symptoms in 34 MS patients.

Phosphodiesterases (PDEs) was found to be involved in a variety of cancer pathologies by modulating the degradation of levels of cAMP/cGMP. However, the prognostic significance and biological effect of PDE4a in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have not been understood completely. In the present study, PDE4a expression was detected in a cohort of HCC and matched adjacent liver tissues (n = 210) by immunohistochemistry staining and Western immunoblotting assay, And experiments were conducted to determine the effect of PDE4a on metastatic capacity of HCC cells.
