Accurate diagnosis of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency is crucial for relapse malaria treatment using 8-aminoquinolines (primaquine and tafenoquine), which can trigger haemolytic anaemia in G6PD-deficient individuals. This is particularly important in regions where the prevalence of G6PD deficiency exceeds 3%-5%, including Southeast Asia and Thailand. While quantitative phenotypic tests can identify women with intermediate activity who may be at risk, they cannot unambiguously identify heterozygous females who require appropriate counselling.

Graphene has emerged as a promising support material for Cu-Zn catalysts in CO2 hydrogenation to methanol due to its high surface area and potential for functionalization with heteroatoms like nitrogen and oxygen, with nitrogen believed to contribute to the reaction. In this study, we combined machine learning and data analysis with experimental work to investigate this effect. Machine learning (using a decision tree model) identified copper particle size, average pore diameter, reduction time, surface area, and metal loading content as the most impactful features for catalyst design, while nitrogen doping showed negligible influence on methanol space-time yield.

This research recovered bioactive compounds from black gram husk (BGH, a by-product of sprout processing) using different ethanol concentrations and maceration times. Based on the results, the highest phenolic and saponin contents were recovered using an 80% ethanolic solution for 3 h, with the extract having both antioxidant and starch digestive enzyme inhibition effects. The major bioactive compounds present in the extract were gallic acid, gentisic acid, ferulic acid, and vitexin.
