Introduction: A novel antifungal formulation combining zinc oxide nanoparticles and Whitfield's spirit solution (ZnO-WFs) was developed to enhance the treatment of superficial fungal foot infections.
Methods: This 8-week, randomized, double-blinded controlled trial compared the efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness of ZnO-WFs with those of Whitfield's spirit solution (WFs) alone and a zinc oxide nanoparticle solution (ZnOs). Seventy of the 84 enrolled patients completed the trial.

This study aimed to explore the effect of anthocyanin-rich black sugarcane on milk production, plasma antioxidant capacity, and the storage period DPPH scavenging capacity of milk in lactating dairy cows. Sixteen lactating dairy cows were stratified and randomly assigned into two balanced dietary groups, namely Anthocyanin-rich black sugarcane (AS), and Napier grass (NG). The AS group demonstrated a significant decrease (p < 0.

The Ph3P-I2-mediated reactions between isatins and amines were extensively investigated leading to the discovery of highly selective and divergent routes toward the synthesis of two distinct classes of indole-based frameworks. Through a strategic design of the reaction paths, we overcome potential side reactions to achieve convenient and straightforward one-pot methods to access either indoloquinazolines with C-12 carboxamide or 2-aminosubstituted indol-3-ones using the same reagent system. Mechanistic studies reveal the role of Ph3P-I2 in governing product selectivity, providing an efficient route to novel fused-indolone derivatives with promising applications in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.

This study focuses on the development of an efficient membrane-based clarification process to enhance the performance of subsequent ultrafiltration and produce high-quality sweet lime juice. A range of casting solutions were prepared using a blend of pore-forming polymers, including polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and cellulose acetate (CA), dissolved in dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent through the phase inversion technique. To further enhance the membrane's performance, four biopolymers poly (lactic acid) (PLA), xanthan gum, chitosan, and gelatin were incorporated, with and without clay, to refine its structure, porosity, and surface properties.

Phytophthora palmivora, an oomycete pathogen, induces leaf fall disease in rubber trees (Hevea brasiliensis), causing significant economic losses. Effective disease management requires an understanding metabolic dynamics during infection. This study employed untargeted metabolomic and proteomic analyses to investigate the response of rubber seedling leaves to P.

This study examined the effects of treadmill running (TR) regimens on craniofacial pain- and anxiety-like behaviors, as well as their effects on neural changes in specific brain regions of male mice subjected to repeated social defeat stress (SDS) for 10 days. Behavioral and immunohistochemical experiments were conducted to evaluate the impact of TR regimens on SDS-related those behaviors, as well as epigenetic and neural activity markers in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), insular cortex (IC), rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM), and cervical spinal dorsal horn (C2). Behavioral responses were quantified using multiple tests, while immunohistochemistry measured histone H3 acetylation, histone deacetylases (HDAC1, HDAC2), and neural activity markers (FosB and phosphorylated cAMP response element-binding protein (pCREB).

The chemical investigation of the fruits of Garcinia schomburgkiana growing in Vietnam led to the isolation of a new anofinic acid derivative, 5-hydroxy-8-methoxyanofinic acid (1), a new xanthone, xanthoschome C (2), and a known synthetic phenolic analogue, 4-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-2-(4-hydroxybenzyl) phenol (3), along with seven known xanthones (4-10). The structures of all isolated compounds were determined using spectroscopic techniques (NMR and MS), in conjunction with comparison to existing literature data. All isolated compounds were assessed for their α-glucosidase inhibitory activity and showed significant inhibition, with IC50 values ranging from 12.

The accumulation pattern of some inorganic pollutants in quarry sites around Ogun State was modeled using a Fuzzy comprehensive assessment (FCA). Potentially toxic elements (PTEs) and naturally occurring radionuclides materials (NORMs) were assessed from soil samples collected from ten quarry sites in three districts (Odeda, Ajebo, and Ijebu Ode) in Ogun State. Three (3) NORMs ( K, U, Th) were assessed using gamma spectrometer with a NaI detector while ten (10) PTEs (As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) were determined by digestion method using Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrophotometer.

A terpene synthase gene (mtas) from Menisporopsis theobromae BCC 4162 was heterologously expressed in Aspergillus oryzae NSAR1, resulting in the production of (+)-aristolochene. Mutations were introduced in MtAS at aromatic residues (Y83, F103, F169, and W323) surrounding the active site, which are critical for precursor cyclisation and intermediate stabilisation during aristolochene biosynthesis. Transformants harbouring mutated mtas, specifically F103W, F169A and F169W, produced (2R,4S,5R,7S)-2-hydroxyaristolochene as the major product, along with aristolochene and other tentative metabolites, including germacrene A and sesquiterpenoids.

Antibiotic Self-Medication (ASM) is a major contributing factor to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) that can lead to both mortality and long-term hospitalizations. High provincial ASM proportions associated with mortality due to AMR have been observed in Thailand but there is a lack of studies on geographic factors contributing to ASM. The present study aimed to quantify the distribution of ASM in Thailand and its correlated factors.

Visible light has been considered to have minimal impact on the skin. However, the increasing use of electronic devices has led to a significant increase in exposure to visible light, especially blue light. We measured the irradiance (mW/cm) and estimated dose (J/cm) of visible light and blue light emitted from various electronic devices including smartphones, tablets and computers.
