Excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) molecules are promising fluorophores for various applications. Particularly, their self-absorption-free fluorescence properties would make them a perfect choice as emissive materials for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Nevertheless, to become effective emitters some of their properties need to be altered by structural modifications.

Diabetes is a medical condition, which belongs to the group of chronic diseases that affects how body processes glucose, the primary source of energy for cells. Glucose comes indirectly from the consumed food  and is carried by bloodstream to various cells in body. Insulin, a hormone synthesized by pancreas play a vital role in conversion of glucose to energy.

Environmental contamination of eggs and its impact on transmission control in rural northeast Thailand.

Infect Dis (Lond)

December 2024

Department of Biology, The Parasitology, Geoinformatics, Environment and Health Science research group, Faculty of Science, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, Udon Thani, Thailand.

Background: Environmental contamination with eggs significantly impacts on opisthorchiasis transmission and disease control. This study assessed egg contamination in underwater sediments from canals and aimed to reduce transmission in egg-positive and downstream communities by controlling human opisthorchiasis in endemic area of Northeast Thailand.

Methods: Sediment samples from 14 sites in UdonThani municipality were determined for eggs.

Background: A proportion of patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) have inadequate symptom control with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) treatment. Vonoprazan demonstrates higher efficacy in acid reduction than PPI; however, the existing efficacy data for vonoprazan in treating PPI-refractory FD is limited.

Methods: This double-blinded, randomized controlled trial study was conducted at Rajavithi Hospital, Bangkok between December 2022 and 2023.

Spurred by the latest developments and growing utilization of zero-dimensional (0D) drug delivery and drug sensors, this investigation examines the possibilities of the 0D C fullerene for drug delivery and the detection of the anticancer drug chlormethine (CHL), the overabundance of which poses a significant threat to living organisms. This study employs density functional theory and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations (AIMD) to evaluate and gain insights into the interaction mechanisms between pristine C fullerene, metal-metalloid (MM)-modified C fullerene (with Al, Fe, and B), and the anticancer drug CHL. It is observed that in the gas phase, the CHL drug molecule adsorbs onto the fullerenes in the following order: B-C > Fe-C > Al-C > C.

To examine the water-induced photoluminescence turn-on and its potential application in trace water sensing, a new series of [Ln(dmba)(HO)]·2HO, where Ln = La (), Pr (), Nd (), Sm (), Eu (), Gd (), Tb (), Dy (), Ho (), and Er (), were synthesized using dimethoxybenzoic acid (Hdmba). Their single-crystal structures and thermal and chemical robustness were investigated, and the effects of lanthanide contraction and noncovalent interactions were discussed. The photoluminescence and colorimetric properties of - were investigated.

Background And Purpose: Glyphosate-based herbicides, extensively utilized worldwide, raise concerns regarding potential human risks due to the detection of glyphosate (GLY) in human body fluids. This study aims to address critical knowledge gaps regarding whether GLY undergoes metabolism in humans, particularly considering the limited information available on human metabolism.

Experimental Approach: The study investigated GLY and its metabolites in eight amenity horticultural workers using proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR) data analysis.

In this study, we investigate the impact of first and second-order coupling strengths on the stability of a synchronization manifold in a Discrete FitzHugh-Nagumo (DFHN) neuron model with memristor coupling. Master Stability Function (MSF) is used to estimate the stability of the synchronized manifold. The MSF of the DFHN model exhibits two zero crossings as we vary the coupling strengths, which is categorized as class .

Chronic Osgood-Schlatter disease can cause significant knee pain and can result in severe functional deficits. For large, painful Osgood-Schlatter disease ossicles refractory to conservative management, surgical ossicle excision can provide resolution of symptoms. After diagnostic arthroscopy and intra-articular debridement, our preferred excision technique uses an open incision for direct visualization and removal of intratendinous ossicles, followed by distal patellar tendon repair and subsequent fixation with FiberTape sutures and knotless anchors to the tibial tubercle.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital health interventions compared to standard care in promoting exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) among postpartum women in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Methods: The PRISMA guidelines of reporting were followed for the searching of four databases and screening following eligibility criteria: articles presenting digital health interventions, conducted as randomized control trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental, or mixed-method studies, reporting on EBF duration and early initiation of breastfeeding, and published in the English language were included.

Results: Of 1595 articles screened, only 10 published between 2013 and 2023 met the criteria.

Dengue virus (DENV) is an increasingly important human pathogen, with already half of the globe's population living in environments with transmission potential. Since only a minority of cases are captured by direct detection methods (RT-PCR or antigen tests), serological assays play an important role in the diagnostic process. However, individual assays can suffer from low sensitivity and specificity and interpreting results from multiple assays remains challenging, particularly because interpretations from multiple assays may differ, creating uncertainty over how to generate finalized interpretations.

Bacteria biofilm infection seriously challenges clinical drug therapy. Nitric oxide (NO) was reported to disperse biofilm, eliminate bacteria resistance and kill bacteria. In this study, on the basis of membrane targeting of α-mangostin (α-MG) and the dispersion effect of NO on bacteria biofilms, we designed and synthesized 30 NO donors that α-MG was conjugated with a nitrobenzene or a nitrate and other four representative reference derivatives.

Absorption study of fat-soluble vitamins into dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) bilayer by MD simulations.

J Mol Graph Model

December 2024

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Muban ChomBueng Rajabhat University, Chom Bueng, Ratchaburi, 70150, Thailand. Electronic address:

Retinol, α-tocopherol and phylloquinone (vitamins A, E, and K) are presented in high concentrations within the chloroplast and leaves of most plants. They are fat-soluble vitamins and absorb similarly to other dietary lipids. Because the molecular mechanism of retinol, α-tocopherol, and phylloquinone absorption is still unknown, this work aims to investigate the distribution of these vitamins at the water/membrane interface using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Plasma nitriding is one of the surface modifications that show more effectiveness than other methods. In this study, the plasma-based ion implantation (PBII) technique was performed on the surface of titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V, Ti64) using a mixture of nitrogen (N) and argon (Ar), resulting in a plasma-nitrided surface (TiN-Ti64). The surface composition of the TiN-Ti64 was verified through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
