Ablative fractional laser-assisted drug delivery has gained attention as a promising method for enhancing dermal drug absorption and improving therapeutic outcomes in dermatological conditions, particularly for hypertrophic and keloid scars. However, despite the growing number of clinical trials and case reports supporting its efficacy, there remains a scarcity of robust evidence on the topical bioavailability and dermato-pharmacokinetics of drugs in human subjects. This study aimed to examine the enhancement of triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) bioavailability following treatment with a fractional Erbium-Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet (Er: YAG) laser.

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging global opportunistic pathogen that causes nosocomial infections. We demonstrated that the superoxide stress-sensing transcriptional regulator SoxR directly modulated the expression of an operon encompassing sodA1 (encoding manganese-containing superoxide dismutase) and fre (encoding putative flavin reductase) by directly binding to the operator site, which was located between the - 35 and -10 motifs of the sodA1 promoter. It is known that upon exposure to the superoxide generators/redox-cycling drugs, the SoxR, which is bound to the operator site, became oxidized.

Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) is a severe X-linked disorder caused by loss-of-function mutations in the WAS gene, responsible for encoding WASP, a key regulator of actin cytoskeleton in all hematopoietic cells except red blood cells. The mechanism underlying microthrombocytopenia, a distinctive feature of WAS and a major contributor to mortality, remains not fully elucidated. In this study, using different gene editing strategies, we corrected mutations in patient-derived WAS-induced pluripotent stem cell lines, generating isogeneic WAS iPSC lines.

Dengue infection poses a significant public health challenge in tropical countries. In Thailand, children ages 5-14 years are among the groups with the highest incidence of dengue. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal (GI) manifestations in children with dengue infection and assess prognostic factors for severe dengue.

An enteroinvasive Escherichia coli (EIEC) outbreak affecting 154 individuals was identified among attendees at a wedding in Loei Province, Thailand. The median time to symptom onset was 18 h (range: 7-72 h). The epidemiological evidence suggested that larb-neua-dib (spicy minced raw beef salad) was the probable source of the outbreak.

Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS), also known as 22q11.2 deletion syndrome or DiGeorge syndrome, is a complex genetic disorder associated with a spectrum of phenotypic features, including craniofacial anomalies, congenital heart defects, and neurodevelopmental challenges. Among the more concerning, though under-recognized, presentation in VCFS is carotid artery medialization-a finding that places patients at substantial risk for vascular injury during pharyngeal surgeries.

Background: In many sub-Saharan African countries, it is recommended that children with sickle cell anaemia receive malaria chemoprevention with monthly sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine or daily proguanil as the standard of care. However, the efficacy of these interventions is compromised by high-grade antifolate resistance of Plasmodium falciparum and poor adherence. We aimed to compare the efficacy of weekly dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine and monthly sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine for the prevention of clinical malaria in children with sickle cell anaemia in areas with high-grade sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine resistance of P falciparum in Uganda and Malawi.

Paediatric critical care units are designed for children at a vulnerable stage of development, yet the evidence base for practice and policy in paediatric critical care remains scarce. In this Health Policy, we present a roadmap providing strategic guidance for international paediatric critical care trials. We convened a multidisciplinary group of 32 paediatric critical care experts from six continents representing paediatric critical care research networks and groups.

Candida albicans has the potential to turn pathogenic and cause mild to severe infections, particularly in people with weakened immune systems. Novel therapeutics are required due to its morphological alterations, biofilm development, and resistance to antifungal drugs. Polycephalomyces nipponicus, a traditional East Asian medicinal fungus, has shown potential as an antifungal agent.

Objectives: To investigate the characteristics of the vascular pedicle of the nasoseptal flap (NSF) and its perfusion patterns using intraoperative indocyanine green (ICG) angiography during endoscopic skull base surgery (ESBS), and examine the correlation between ICG perfusion patterns and clinical outcomes, including postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak and flap necrosis.
Methods: This study enrolled patients undergoing ESBS between January 2017 and December 2021. Intraoperative ICG angiography was performed to visualize the arterial supply of the nasal septum and evaluate NSF perfusion.

Introduction: Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) is a rare, rapidly progressive, fatal, neurodegenerative disease classified as prion diseases. There are many subtypes of this disease, but information about clinical presentation and investigation findings in Thailand is scarce.
Objective: To describe the clinical presentation, radiological and electroencephalographic characteristics of CJD encountered at Siriraj hospital in the past 10 years (between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2015).

The synthesis of polymer/oligomer-stabilized metal nanostructures (MNS) opens up a wide range of possibilities, from fundamental materials science to practical applications in domains such as medicine, catalysis, sensing, and energy. Because of the versatility of this synthetic approach, it is a dynamic and ever-changing field of study. These polymers/oligomers have precise control over the nucleation and growth kinetics, allowing the production of mono-disperse MNS with well-defined properties.

We successfully enhanced bacterial cellulose (BC) production in low-cost coconut water (CW) at 37 °C by low-nutrient adaptation of Komagataeibacter xylinus MSKU 12. In this study, the BC yield was significantly increased by simultaneous coculture fermentation of MSKU 12 with Saccharomyces bayanus in Hestrin-Schramm (HS) and CW media. Coculture fermentation at 30 °C produced BC yields of 13.

Introduction: Nonbacterial thrombotic endocarditis (NBTE) is a rare cardiac manifestation in patients with advanced malignancies of the lungs, pancreas, gynecological system, and gastrointestinal tract. It is often confirmed postmortem by histopathological evidence of sterile platelet-fibrin deposits attached to the endocardium, most often on heart valves. To the best of our knowledge, our case is the first to report multiple heart lesions caused by the systemic effect of cholangiocarcinoma.

Background: Prolonged cold storage (CS) of kidneys results in poor long-term outcomes after transplantation (Tx). We reported previously that CS of rat kidneys for 18 h before transplant impaired proteasome function, disrupted protein homeostasis, and reduced graft function. The goal of the present study was to identify the renal proteins, including phosphoproteins, that are dysregulated by this CS injury.
