Objectives: To estimate the concentration of nitrous oxide (NO) required for effective sedation to render dental treatment for an anxious child and to assess the child's behavior, patient acceptance, parental satisfaction, postoperative complications, and ease of manipulation of Porter Silhouette mask by the dentist during NO-O sedation.
Study Design: A total of 40 children, 6-10-year-old requiring dental treatment, were treated using NO sedation. The level of NO required for optimal sedation, patient behavior, level of acceptance of NO by the patient, clinical recovery score, and postoperative complications were observed throughout the study.

Objective: This study was performed to assess smear layer formation and erosion after final irrigation protocols with metal and non-metal tips in the apical third of root canals.
Methods: Forty mandibular premolars were instrumented with ProTaper Gold files up to F3 and embedded in a closed silicone flask system. The teeth were subsequently cleaved and 4 sequential indentations (1 to 4 mm from the apical foramen) were prepared on the buccal root canal walls to standardize sites for environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) imaging.

Aim: The study's aim was to assess and compare the clinical parameters, plasma reactive oxygen metabolites (ROM) levels, gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) resistin, serum resistin values, and red complex bacteria in obese or overweight subjects with and without periodontitis and also to determine the effect of non-surgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) on plasma ROM, serum, and GCF resistin values in obese or overweight subjects with chronic periodontitis.
Material And Methods: A total of 160 subjects were recruited and designated into four groups with 40 subjects each as group I - obese with chronic periodontitis; group II - normal weight subjects with chronic periodontitis; group III - obese subjects with healthy periodontium; and group IV - normal weight subjects with healthy periodontium. The periodontal parameters, plasma ROM, GCF resistin and serum resistin, and red complex bacteria levels were estimated at baseline.

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common malignancy of the oral cavity, with multifactorial etiopathogenesis. Data from the past literature suggest that myofibroblasts (MFs) can also contribute significantly to the pathogenesis of the disease. Hence, the present study was undertaken for assessing the expression of MF in well-differentiated OSCC (WDOSCC), moderately differentiated OSCC (MDOSCC), poorly differentiated OSCC (PDOSCC) and healthy controls by immunohistochemistry using alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) antibody.

Aim: To formulate, design, and chemically characterize a novel denture base resin (DBR) copolymer containing triazine-based antimicrobial comonomer and also to evaluate the double bond conversion (DC) in the copolymer with various concentrations of the comonomer by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
Materials And Methods: The study groups comprise a control group G0 in which the specimens ( = 10) were polymerized without the triazine comonomer and trial groups G10 and G20 where the polymerized specimens ( = 10 each) contained 10 and 20% triazine comonomer, respectively. FTIR was employed to ascertain and evaluate copolymerization (CP) and DC.

Dental cariology is a discipline with history as long as that of human civilization. It has seen numerous growth and decline phases from the epidemiological perspective. Nevertheless, despite huge amounts of funds being allotted by various international agencies to estimate the prevalence and assess the treatment needs, there always exists a gap between collected data and actual scenarios due to the in-availability of feasible approaches to include all people as samples and assess the statistics, especially the rural population of developing countries.
