The article presents research on the evaluation of the use of two four-layer textile composites with ZrO/Al coatings of different thicknesses (deposited by magnetron sputtering PVD) with potential use in thermally insulating protective gloves designed for steelworkers, welders, or miners. The structure of the composites was analyzed using high-resolution X-ray micro-CT. The assessment of the safety of the glove user was conducted using methods in which the composites were exposed to contact heat, radiant heat, and flame heat.

Background: Ticks (Acari: Ixodida) pose a serious medical and veterinary threat as vectors of tick-borne pathogens. The wide variety of tick repellents available on the market primarily consist of synthetic preparations that may disrupt the ecological balance and accumulate in the environment, leading to harmful effects on humans and animals. The aim of the study was to develop an ecological preparation based on natural raw materials (biopolymers) with the addition of a mixture of essential oils that act as tick repellents.

The use of sunlight to convert CO into multi-carbon fuels, particularly propylene, is considered a sustainable carbon cycle pathway, but propylene requires a multi-electron-coupled proton reaction process that has not been reported. Herein, two covalent organic frameworks (DA-COF and DP-COF) are prepared by varying the bridging positions of anthraquinone conjugated units. The experimental results show that the neighbouring bridge in DA-COF forms a unique cleavage structure like an enzyme catalyst, which can provide an efficient microenvironment for the reduction reaction to trap protons.

This study presents a new approach to developing protective material structures for personal protective equipment (PPE), and in particular for protective gloves, with the use of ultrasonic and contact welding processes. The goal was to assess the quality of joints (welds) obtained between a synthetic polyamide knitted fabric (PA) and selected polymers (PLA, ABS, PET-G) in the developed materials using X-Ray microtomography (micro-CT). Quantitative and qualitative analyses were performed to determine the joint area produced by the selected welding methods for the examined materials.

This study evaluated the bone-to-implant contact (BIC) of various surface-treated dental implants using high-resolution micro-CT in rabbit bone, focusing on the effects of different treatments on osseointegration and implant stability before and after bone demineralization. Six male New Zealand White rabbits were used. Four implant types were tested: machined surface with anodizing, only etching, sandblasting with AlO + etching, and sandblasting with TiO + etching.

This paper focuses on the development of a methodology for the directional structural modification of warp-knitted fabrics by sewing on carbon fiber tapes. Four-, five-, and six-axial geometric systems were designed to optimize the qualitative distribution of stresses on the surface of the tested product. Through a numerical experiment in the ANSYS environment, the impact of the change in the axiality of a textile structure on the mechanical properties of the modeled geometric configuration was assessed.

This paper summarizes the possibility of employing knitted textile barriers as a shield against electromagnetic fields to protect the human body from their negative impact. Ten variants of knitted fabrics made of electrically conductive yarns, steel, and copper wire that differed in stitch pattern, structural parameters, and raw material, were designed, manufactured, and tested. The knitted fabrics produced differed in structural parameters, including course and wale density, surface density, thickness, thread length in the loop, wale and course take-up, volume cover factor, and surface porosity.

This study examined the possibility of using various types of waste paper-used newsprint (NP), used lightweight coated paper (LWC), used office paper (OP), and used corrugated cardboard (CC)-for the removal of anionic dyes, Acid Red 18 (AR18) and Acid Yellow 23 (AY23), and cationic dyes, Basic Violet 10 (BV10) and Basic Red 46 (BR46), from aqueous solutions. The scope of this research included the characterization of sorbents (FTIR, SEM, BET surface area, porosity, pH, effectiveness of water coloration), determination of pH effect on the effectiveness of dye sorption, sorption kinetics (pseudo-first-order model, second-order model, intraparticular diffusion model), and the maximum sorption capacity (Langmuir models and Freundlich model) of the tested sorbents. The use of waste paper materials as sorbents was found to not pose any severe risk of aquatic environment contamination.

In this study, we synthesized new series of 5-oxo-2-phenyl-4-(arylsulfamoyl)sulphenyl) hydrazono)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylate hybrids 4a-f with the goal of overcoming sulfonamide resistance and identifying novel therapeutic candidates by chemical changes. The chemical structures of the synthesized hybrids were established over the spectroscopic tools. The frontier molecular orbitals configuration and energetic possessions of the synthesized compounds were discovered utilizing DFT/B3LYP/6-311++ G** procedure.

This study aimed to evaluate internal tooth-filling interfaces of composite fillings made using universal adhesives using micro-computed tomography (µCT). Sixty class V cavities were randomly assigned into six groups: Peak Universal etch and rinse (PER), Peak Universal self-etch (PSE), Adhese Universal etch and rinse (AER), and Adhese Universal self-etch (ASE). Two further adhesives considered gold standards were used as control groups: OptiBond FL (OER) for the etch and rinse technique and Clearfil SE for the self-etch technique (CSE).

This article presents studies on the evaluation of the impact of surface modification of cotton, viscose, and polyester fabrics using three techniques (flocking, layer by layer, and screen printing) with materials with electrically conductive properties on their structural, biophysical, and conductive properties. Each tested fabric is characterized by specific biophysical properties. which can be disturbed by various modification methods, therefore, the following tests were carried out in the article: optical microscopy, micro-computed tomography, guarded perspiration heating plate, air permeability, sorption and electrical conductivity tester.

The application of biobased and biodegradable polymers, such as polylactide (PLA), in fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D-printing technology creates a new prospect for rapid prototyping and other applications in the context of ecology. The popularity of the FDM method and its significance in material engineering not only creates new prospects for the development of technical sciences on an industrial scale, but also introduces new technologies into households. In this study, the kinetics of the hydrolytic degradation of samples obtained by the FDM method from commercially available PLA filaments under a thermally accelerated regime were analyzed.
