There is a growing body of the literature on new cement formulations that address the shortcomings of PMMA bone cements approved for use in vertebroplasty (VP) and balloon kyphoplasty (BKP). The present study is a contribution to these efforts by further characterization of two pre-mixed CaP filler-reinforced PMMA bone cements intended for VP; namely, PMMA-HA and PMMA-brushite cements. Each of these cements showed acceptable levels of various properties determined in porcine vertebral bodies.

Introduction: Worldwide, a nonoperative approach in the treatment of idiopathic clubfoot has been taken in an attempt to reduce the incidence of surgical outcomes. Although both the Ponseti casting (Ponseti) and the French physiotherapy (PT) methods have shown gait and pedobarograph differences at age 2 years, improved gait results have been reported by age 5 years. Despite the potential of whole-genome sequencing (WGS) to improve patient diagnosis and care, the empirical value of WGS in the cancer genetics clinic is unknown. We performed WGS on members of two cohorts of cancer genetics patients: those with mutations (n = 176) and those without (n = 82). Initial analysis of potentially pathogenic variants (PPVs, defined as nonsynonymous variants with allele frequency < 1% in ESP6500) in 163 clinically-relevant genes suggested that WGS will provide useful clinical results.

Congenital orofacial abnormalities are clinically seen in human syndromes with SHP2 germline mutations such as LEOPARD and Noonan syndrome. Recent studies demonstrate that SHP2-deficiency leads to skeletal abnormalities including scoliosis and cartilaginous benign tumor metachondromatosis, suggesting that growth plate cartilage is a key tissue regulated by SHP2. The role and cellular mechanism of SHP2 in the orofacial cartilage, however, remains unknown.

Background: The absence of a reliable classification system for Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease has contributed to difficulty in establishing consistent management strategies and in interpreting outcome studies. Children born with the Amyoplasia form of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) who lack elbow flexor muscles and have elbow extension contractures usually require assistance in performing ADL's that require reaching their hand to their face, head, and upper body.
