Purpose: Patients with stage II and III cutaneous primary melanoma vary considerably in their risk of melanoma-related death. We explore the ability of methylation profiling to distinguish primary melanoma methylation classes and their associations with clinicopathologic characteristics and survival.
Materials And Methods: InterMEL is a retrospective case-control study that assembled primary cutaneous melanomas from American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th edition stage II and III patients diagnosed between 1998 and 2015 in the United States and Australia.

Importance: High emergency department (ED) pediatric readiness is associated with improved survival among children receiving emergency care, but state and national costs to reach high ED readiness and the resulting number of lives that may be saved are unknown.
Objective: To estimate the state and national annual costs of raising all EDs to high pediatric readiness and the resulting number of pediatric lives that may be saved each year.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study used data from EDs in 50 US states and the District of Columbia from 2012 through 2022.

A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

Introduction Diabetes mellitus (DM) encompasses metabolic disorders characterized by elevated blood sugar. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and associated metrics of DM in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV), a low-income and medically underserved region in the United States, and compare these metrics to the national averages from 2012 to 2022. Methods A retrospective cross-sectional analysis was conducted using publicly accessible data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Background: Male sex has been identified as a risk factor for worse COVID-19 outcomes. This sex difference has been mostly attributed to the complex role of sex hormones. Cell surface entry of SARS-CoV-2 is mediated by the transmembrane protease serine 2 (TMPRSS2) which is under transcriptional regulation by androgens.

In three phase 3, randomized, double-blind, vehicle, and comparator-controlled studies (Be Vivid, Be Ready, and Be Sure), bimekizumab was investigated for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. The primary efficacy end point was psoriatic area and severity index (PASI) 90 (patients with 90% improvement in PASI from baseline) and investigator's global assessment (IGA) score of 0 (clear skin)-1 (almost clear skin) as well as ≥2-point improvement from baseline at week 16.

T cell is an indispensable component of the immune system and its multifaceted functions are shaped by the distinct T cell types and their various states. Although multiple computational models exist for predicting the abundance of diverse T cell types, tools for assessing their states to characterize their degree of resting, activation, and suppression are lacking. To address this gap, a robust and nuanced scoring tool called T cell state identifier (TCellSI) leveraging Mann-Whitney statistics is established.

Background: Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS®) is a standardized perioperative approach that utilizes a multidisciplinary team to reduce physiologic stress and improve postoperative recovery. The purpose of our study is to evaluate outcomes in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult (AYA) patients undergoing major oncologic operations before and after the implementation of an enhanced recovery program (ERP).
Methods: All patients ≤23 years old who underwent major oncologic surgery between 1/2017-2/2022 were identified.

Background: Pediatric melanoma is the most common skin cancer in children. Achieving surgical margins recommended by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for wide local excision (WLE) is challenging in children with less body domain. This study investigated whether surgical margin impacted postoperative clinical outcomes following WLE for melanoma in children and adolescents.

Importance: In 2022, the US House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution (House of Representatives Resolution 1118 at the 117th Congress [2021-2022]) calling for meaningful nutrition education for medical trainees. This was prompted by increasing health care spending attributed to the growing prevalence of nutrition-related diseases and the substantial federal funding via Medicare that supports graduate medical education. In March 2023, medical education professional organizations agreed to identify nutrition competencies for medical education.

Methods: Among 183 participants in a clinical trial of conventional vs. hypofractionated treatment with RNI, 125 (68 %) completed a pilot survey of FT measured using the validated Economic Strain and Resilience in Cancer (ENRICh) instrument, scored from 0 (minimal) to 10 (severe) FT.

Background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols have been shown to decrease inpatient length of stay (LOS) and improve surgical outcomes in elective abdominal colorectal procedures. Discharging a patient home after a minimally invasive colectomy on the same calendar day is a multifactorial decision that takes into account the patient's decision and baseline condition, social factors, intraoperative findings, and postoperative recovery status. The aim of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of same-day discharge (SDD) following minimally invasive colectomy within an ERAS protocol in a community hospital setting in Houston, Texas.
