Background: Hot flashes can be a prevalent issue for postmenopausal women, but traditional treatments such as hormone therapy can have adverse side effects. Recommended psychotherapies for managing hot flashes include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and clinical hypnosis, but an in-depth review comparing the efficacy of both treatments is warranted.

Objectives: The aim of the present scoping review was to assess the clinical significance and efficacy of symptom reduction of CBT and clinical hypnosis as treatments of hot flashes.

A comprehensive mechanistic investigation of sustainable carbene N-H insertion catalyzed by engineered His-ligated heme proteins.

Engineered heme proteins possess excellent biocatalytic carbene N-H insertion abilities for sustainable synthesis, and most of them have His as the Fe axial ligand. However, information on the basic reaction mechanisms is limited, and ground states of heme carbenes involved in the prior computational mechanistic studies are under debate. A comprehensive quantum chemical reaction pathway study was performed for the heme model with a His analogue as the axial ligand and carbene from the widely used precursor ethyl diazoacetate with aniline as the substrate.

Hydroxytyrosol, a Component of Olive Oil for Breast Cancer Prevention in Women at High Risk of Cancer.

This study evaluates the effects of hydroxytyrosol (HT), a component of olive oil, on mammographic breast density reduction. We explored effects of HT on Wnt -catenin and other pathways involved in cancer stem cell renewal, DNA repair, cell proliferation, and differentiation. Twenty-five milligrams per day oral dose of HT was given for 12 months in pre- and postmenopausal women at increased risk of breast cancer.

Harnessing Terbium Radioisotopes for Clinical Advancements: A Systematic Review.

Background this systematic review was conducted to assess the practical application of terbium radioisotopes, utilizing systematic search methodologies to identify relevant studies. Methods the databases of PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were systematically scoured, targeting the research on four terbium isotopes:  Tb,  Tb,  Tb, and  Tb. Various combinations of keywords related to terbium and its four radioisotopes were used in the search process.

Improving sensory integration in Chinese children with moderate sensory integration challenges through engaging basketball training.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of combining basketball training with a traditional sensory integration therapy (SIT) vs. a SIT alone in enhancing sensory integration capability among Chinese children diagnosed with mild challenges in sensory integration and sensory processing (CSISP).

Methods: This study comprised a Control group and an Experimental group, both undergoing a 10-week intervention (4 sessions/week, 45 min/session).

Assessing sex as a biological variable is critical to determining the influence of environmental and lifestyle risks and protective factors mediating behavior and neuroplasticity across the lifespan. We investigated sex differences in affective behavior, memory, and hippocampal neurogenesis following short- or long-term exposure to exercise or chronic mild stress in young and aged mice. Male and female mice were assigned control, running, or chronic stress rearing conditions for 1 month (young) or for 15 months (aged), then underwent a behavioral test battery to assess activity, affective behavior, and memory.

Cognitive Outcomes After Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for the Treatment of Late-Life Depression: Résultats cognitifs après la stimulation magnétique transcrânienne pour le traitement de la dépression chez les personnes âgées.

Background: Late-life depression (LLD) is often accompanied by cognitive impairment, which may persist despite antidepressant treatment. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an efficacious treatment for depression, with potential benefits on cognitive functioning. However, research on cognitive effects is inconclusive, relatively sparse in LLD, and predominantly focused on group-level cognitive changes.

APT imaging of hepatocellular carcinoma signals an effective therapeutic response in advance of tumor shrinkage.

The aim of this study was to assess the utility of weighted amide proton transfer (APT) MRI in three different rodent models of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). APT MRI was evaluated in models of diethylnitrosamine (DEN) induced HCC, N1S1 syngeneic orthotopic xenograft and human HepG2 ectopic xenograft. All models of HCC showed a higher APT signal over the surrounding normal tissues.

Prevalence of Asymptomatic Acetabular Labrum Abnormalities in the Active Pediatric Population.

Background: The prevalence of labral tears in asymptomatic active adults has been reported, but the prevalence of labral tears and other incidental hip lesions in the asymptomatic active pediatric population remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of hip abnormalities detected on 3T MRI in an active pediatric population with no hip symptoms and to compare with hip abnormalities found in children and adolescents who underwent an MRI for a hip-related condition.

Methods: After IRB approval, pediatric patients self-reporting as athletes and presenting with isolated, acute-onset knee pain requiring knee MRI were prospectively recruited to undergo 3T MRI of their asymptomatic contralateral hip (ASx).

Enhancing immunotherapy efficacy with synergistic low-dose radiation in metastatic melanoma: current insights and prospects.

Recent advances in oncology research have highlighted the promising synergy between low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) and immunotherapies, with growing evidence highlighting the unique benefits of the combination. LDRT has emerged as a potent tool for stimulating the immune system, triggering systemic antitumor effects by remodeling the tumor microenvironment. Existing datasets in this domain have predominantly concentrated on textual data, overlooking the importance of visual elements. Bridging Gaps: Enhancing Sleep and Health Disparities in Latino Families with Young Adults with Autism Using a Culturally Adapted Intervention.

The present study examined the effects of a culturally adapted intervention, ¡Iniciando! la Adultez, on sleep and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in Latino young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their Spanish-speaking parents. The intervention targeted the transition to adulthood, a period associated with increased challenges in sleep and HRQoL, particularly for underserved Latino populations. Participants included 26 young adults and 38 parents who completed assessments at baseline and post-treatment.

γ-Glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX) is the sole identified enzyme that uses vitamin K (VK) as a cofactor in humans. Variable stressor exposure shapes fitness within and across generations.

Environmental variation has long been considered a key driver of evolutionary change, predicted to shape different strategies, such as genetic specialization, plasticity, or bet-hedging to maintain fitness. Large exciton binding energy in a bulk van der Waals magnet from quasi-1D electronic localization.

Excitons, bound electron-hole pairs, influence the optical properties in strongly interacting solid-state systems and are typically most stable and pronounced in monolayer materials. Bulk systems with large exciton binding energies, on the other hand, are rare and the mechanisms driving their stability are still relatively unexplored. Here, we report an exceptionally large exciton binding energy in single crystals of the bulk van der Waals antiferromagnet CrSBr.

Systemic therapy for patients with metastatic pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma.

Pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors derived from the paraganglia. These tumors frequently secrete excessive amounts of catecholamines leading to cardiovascular and gastrointestinal complications. While all pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas possess the potential for metastasis, actual metastatic occurrences are observed in approximately one third of cases.

Timing and Outcomes of PCI in Conjunction With TAVR With Balloon-Expandable Valves.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare outcomes based on the timing of PCI in stable coronary artery disease patients undergoing TAVR.

Methods: Leveraging the STS/ACC TVT Registry and Medicare Linkage, we analyzed patients with stable coronary artery disease undergoing PCI and TAVR between 2015 and 2023 using the SAPIEN 3 balloon-expandable valve platform.
