High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

Filsuvez (birch triterpenes) topical gel received approval in 2023 for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) in pediatric patients (aged ≥6 months) and adults. It promotes wound healing by modulating inflammation, encouraging new tissue formation, and maintaining the skin barrier. In a randomized, double-blind, controlled, parallel-group, phase III trial (EASE, NCT03068780), 223 patients were randomly assigned to two groups: the first group received treatment with birch triterpenes topical gel (study gel, n = 109), and the second group received treatment with vehicle gel (n = 114).

Prenatal repair of myelomeningocele (MMC) is associated with lower rates of hydrocephalus requiring ventriculoperitoneal shunt and improved motor function when compared with postnatal repair. Efforts aiming to develop less invasive surgical techniques to decrease the risk for the pregnant patient while achieving similar benefits for the fetus have led to the implementation of fetoscopic surgical techniques. While no ideal anesthetic technique for fetoscopic MMC repair has been demonstrated, we present our anesthetic approach for these repairs, including considerations for both the pregnant patient and the fetus.

Objectives: Antiarrhythmic administration is an important treatment for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) with a shockable rhythm, but a minimal amount is known about disparities in such antiarrhythmic practices. We sought to investigate the association between community race/ethnicity and prehospital antiarrhythmic administration for OHCA.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of a national prehospital database, National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS), linked to Census data.
This Letter reports a search for charge-parity (CP) symmetry violating nonstandard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos with matter using the NOvA Experiment, and examines their effects on the determination of the standard oscillation parameters. Data from ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{e}(ν[over ¯]_{e}) oscillation channels are used to measure the effect of the NSI parameters ϵ_{eμ} and ϵ_{eτ}. With 90% CL the magnitudes of the NSI couplings are constrained to be |ϵ_{eμ}|≲0.

Background And Purpose: Neoadjuvant BRAF-directed therapy and immunotherapy followed by surgery improves survival in patients with BRAF-mutant anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC), more so in those who have complete ATC pathologic response. This study assesses the ability of FDG-PET to non-invasively detect residual high-risk pathologies including ATC and poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC) in the preoperative setting.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective, single-center study included consecutive BRAF-mutant ATC patients treated with at least 30 days of neoadjuvant BRAF-directed therapy and who underwent FDG-PET/CT within 30 days prior to surgery.

Astronomers have found more than a dozen planets transiting stars that are 10-40 million years old, but younger transiting planets have remained elusive. The lack of such discoveries may be because planets have not fully formed at this age or because our view is blocked by the protoplanetary disk. However, we now know that many outer disks are warped or broken; provided the inner disk is depleted, transiting planets may thus be visible.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are associated with tumor burden and treatment response and, as hallmarks of the initiation of tumor dissemination, can predict the likelihood of metastatic progression before widespread tumors can be detected by standard anatomic imaging. However, early diagnosis of recurrence through the detection of CTCs is limited by their low prevalence in blood and the limited sensitivity of existing technologies. To address these challenges, we investigated the use of ultrasound and targeted microbubbles (MBs) for early CTC detection.
