Administering the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to men offers substantial health benefits for both themselves and their female partners. In mainland China, the HPV vaccine has not been approved for men, and little is known about their acceptance of it. This study aims to assess the acceptability of HPV vaccine among young Chinese adult men and examine the association between personal health beliefs, altruistic beliefs, and HPV vaccination intentions and behavioral attempts.

Telecardiology, the remote diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions, is experiencing a significant increase in developing nations. This article explores the driving forces behind this trend and its implications. Limited access to healthcare facilities, especially in rural, isolated, and underdeveloped regions, has propelled the adoption of telecardiology as a cost-effective solution to bridge the gap in cardiac care provision.

D-bifunctional protein deficiency (D-BPD) is a rare, autosomal recessive peroxisomal disorder that affects the breakdown of long-chain fatty acids. Patients with D-BPD typically present during the neonatal period with hypotonia, seizures, and facial dysmorphism, followed by severe developmental delay and early mortality. While some patients have survived past two years of age, the detectable enzyme activity in these rare cases was likely a contributing factor.

The intersecting pathways involved in linear growth, glucose, and lipid metabolism may play a key part in the imbalances leading to the dysmetabolic changes observed in obese children, and later adults. The growth-hormone/insulin growth factor 1 (GH/IGF-1) axis is a prime example in this regard and IGF-1 levels have been shown to correlate with insulin resistance. The aim of this study is to examine whether there is a relationship between circulating IGF levels and weight status in children as an independent relationship, regardless of insulin sensitivity.

Background: The widespread adoption of telehealth services necessitates accurate online department selection based on patient medical records, a task requiring significant medical knowledge. Incorrect triage results in considerable time wastage for both patients and medical professionals. To address this, we propose an intelligent triage model based on a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) neural network with character embedding to enhance the efficiency and capacity of telehealth services.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a heterogeneous clinical syndrome with multiple underlying mechanisms and comorbidities that leads to a variety of clinical phenotypes. The identification and characterization of these phenotypes are essential for better understanding the precise pathophysiology of HFpEF, identifying appropriate treatment strategies, and improving patient outcomes. Despite accumulating data showing the potentiality of artificial intelligence (AI)-based phenotyping using clinical, biomarker, and imaging information from multiple dimensions in HFpEF management, contemporary guidelines and consensus do not incorporate these in daily practice.

Emerging evidence has revealed the significant roles of nicotinamide n-methyltransferase (NNMT) in cancer initiation, development, and progression; however, a pan-cancer analysis of NNMT has not been conducted. In this study, we first thoroughly investigated the expression and prognostic significance of NNMT and the relationship between NNMT and the tumor microenvironment using bioinformatic analysis. NNMT was significantly increased and associated with poor prognosis in many common cancers.
