Background: Small bowel video capsule endoscopy (SB-VCE) assesses mucosal inflammation in Crohn's disease (CD), while intestinal ultrasound (IUS) examines transmural involvement. We aimed to correlate SB-VCE with IUS in evaluating active CD and monitoring treatment response over time.
Methods: Patients with active SB-CD who initiated biologics were prospectively followed with fecal calprotectin (FC), SB-VCE, and IUS at baseline and after 14 and 52 weeks.

Background: Preterm and low birth weight infants are at an early stage of development, and do not receive adequate maternal circadian signals. They are often cared for over prolonged periods of hospitalisation in neonatal intensive care units (NICU), where environmental circadian stimuli are lacking. Exposure to artificial light-dark cycles may stimulate the development of the circadian system and improve clinical outcomes.

This study focuses on two groups: evacuees from Israel's southern and northern frontline communities following the October 7th Hamas attack, and individuals from regions not directly threatened. Using network analysis, we identified key associations and central nodes related to stress indicators (i.e.

Central-place foragers face high predation risk when repeatedly using routes near their nest, as predators can learn to ambush them there. We investigated the factors influencing the likelihood of desert ant foragers falling into pitfall traps, simulating common predators such as antlions or spiders. We varied the spatial configuration of the pitfall traps, the presence of trapped nestmates and the availability of visual landmarks to study the workers' susceptibility to falling into pits and their foraging success.

The order currently comprises five viral families with positive-sense RNA [(+)RNA] genomes that infect plants, fungi, and insects. Virion morphologies within the order differ between families, with icosahedral virions in the and filamentous virions in the other families. Despite their different morphologies, these viruses are placed in the same order based on phylogenetic analyses of replicase-associated polyproteins.

Redox-active polymer gels are promising materials for various applications, such as energy conversion and storage systems, organic electronics, soft-robotics, sensors and others. This is in part due to the remarkable structural tunability of these materials. The gel may adopt different conformations depending on the crosslinking density, solvent temperature and other conditions.

Collections of insertional mutants have been instrumental for characterizing the functional relevance of genes in different model organisms, including Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). However, mutations may often result in subtle phenotypes, rendering it difficult to pinpoint the function of a knocked-out gene. Here, we present a data-integrative modeling approach that enables predicting the effects of mutations on metabolic traits and plant growth.

Background: A direct comparison between glycemic-based and lipid-based insulin sensitivity indices (ISIs) for ECG findings and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality is lacking.
Methods: 963 community-dwelling older adults, examined as part of the third phase of the Glucose intolerance, Obesity, and Hypertension study between 1999 and 2008, were followed until December 2016 and December 2019 for cardiovascular and all-cause mortality, respectively. Eleven different ISIs were calculated and evaluated against ECG findings, all-cause, and cardiovascular mortality with multivariable regression models.

Background: In the complex landscape of modern warfare, understanding combat-related injuries leading to hospitalization is crucial for optimizing injury treatment. This study aims to compare combat casualty characteristics and outcomes during the major conflicts between Israel and Hamas in 2023 and 2014 as a basis for understanding the effectiveness of trauma care practices for wounded soldiers.
Methods: A cohort study of soldiers hospitalized due to combat injuries during two major wars between Israel and Hamas in 2023 and 2014, using data from the Israeli National Trauma Registry.

Background And Objectives: Public healthcare systems face constraints in financial and professional resources. The Mandatory Tenders Law 5752 - 1992 stipulates that before entering into a contract for the supply of a service or product, public authorities and government corporations must undergo a public tender process. The authors sought to identify and contextualize the trends observed in tenders for healthcare services over the past decade amid increasingly stringent resource constraints.

Interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) such as spikes and sharp waves represent pathological electrophysiological activities occurring in epilepsy patients between seizures. IEDs occur preferentially during non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and are associated with impaired memory and cognition. Despite growing interest, most studies involving IED detections rely on visual annotations or employ simple amplitude threshold approaches.

Surgical and neuropathologists continuously search for new and disease-specific features, such as independent predictors of tumor prognosis or determinants of tumor entities and sub-entities. This is a task where artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) systems could significantly contribute to help with tumor outcome prediction and the search for new diagnostic or treatment stratification biomarkers. AI systems are increasingly integrated into routine pathology workflows to improve accuracy, reproducibility, productivity and to reveal difficult-to-see features in complicated histological slides, including the quantification of important markers for tumor grading and staging.

Negative pressure wound therapy is used often in the management of surgical incisions, chronic wounds and subacute lesions, and there are numerous publications discussing its clinical application and outcomes. However, whilst clinical use and associated literature have expanded since these systems became commercially available in the 90s, important research and discussion around the mode of action have waned, leading to a deficit in the understanding of how this important therapy influences healing. Further, much research and many publications are predominantly reflective, discussing early theorem, some of which have been proven incorrect, or at least not fully resolved leading to misunderstandings as to how the therapy works, thus potentially denying the clinician the opportunity to optimise use towards improved clinical and economic outcomes.

After over 20 years of progressively increasing clinical utilization of PGT-A (and its precursors), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and its daughter society, the Society for Assisted Reproduction (SART), for the first time published a committee opinion clearly acknowledging that "the value of PGT-A as a routine screening test for patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) has not been demonstrated." This statement is timely and welcome but requires some additions and raises some new questions, among those why, if PGT-A in a general population does not improve IVF cycle outcomes, the routine clinical utilization of PGT-A should continue.

The utilization of excited charge carriers in semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) for optoelectronic technologies has been a long-standing goal in the field of nanoscience. Experimental efforts to extend the lifetime of excited carriers have therefore been a principal focus. To understand the limits of these lifetimes, in this work, we theoretically study the time scales of pure electron relaxation in negatively charged NCs composed of two prototypical materials: CdSe and CdS.
