Background: Prosthesis-patient mismatch after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) can be measured echocardiographically (measured prosthesis-patient mismatch [PPMm]) or predicted (predicted prosthesis-patient mismatch [PPMp]) using published effective orifice area (EOA) reference values. However, the clinical implications of PPM post-TAVR remain unclear.
Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the prevalence of PPMm and PPMp post-TAVR and their impact on mortality in a large international cohort.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a prevalent neurodegenerative condition for which there are symptomatic treatments but no disease-modifying therapies (DMTs). Extensive research over the years has highlighted the need for a multi-target DMT approach in PD that recognizes the various risk factors and their intricate interplay in contributing to PD-related neurodegeneration. Widespread risk factors, such as emotional stress and metabolic factors, have increasingly become focal points of exploration.

Here we conduct a study involving 12 individuals with retinal dystrophy, neurological impairment, and skeletal abnormalities, with special focus on GPATCH11, a lesser-known G-patch domain-containing protein, regulator of RNA metabolism. To elucidate its role, we study fibroblasts from unaffected individuals and patients carrying the recurring c.328+1 G > T mutation, which specifically removes the main part of the G-patch domain while preserving the other domains.

Parkinson's Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder afflicting almost 12 million people. Increased understanding of its complex and heterogenous disease pathology, etiology and symptom manifestations has resulted in the need to design, capture and interrogate substantial clinical datasets. Herein we advocate how advances in the deployment of artificial intelligence models for Federated Data Analysis and Federated Learning can help spearhead coordinated and sustainable approaches to address this grand challenge.

Background: Dexterity impairments are common among people with Parkinson's disease (PWP), yet little is understood about the effect of upper-limb (UL) dysfunction on daily activity performance.
Objectives: The aims were to (1) map the dexterity activities most affected and meaningful to PWP; (2) explore the associations between perceived dexterity function and disease severity, cognitive and motor UL impairments, dexterity ability, self-reported activities of daily living (ADL) function, and quality of life (QOL); (3) investigate variables explaining perceived dexterity function; and (4) examine the differences in perceived dexterity function based on dominance affectedness.
Methods: A total of 43 PWP (mean age = 70.

Objective: The efficacy of secondary cytoreductive surgery (SCS) in recurrent ovarian cancer remains controversial, necessitating meticulous preoperative planning. While three-dimensional (3D) imaging has transformed surgical approaches in various disciplines, its application in gynaecologic oncology is nascent. This study introduces a novel investigation employing preoperative 3D modelling in SCS preparation.

Background: Patients with refractory angina are often ineligible for revascularization and have poor quality of life despite optimal medical therapy. The coronary sinus (CS) Reducer (Shockwave Medical Inc) was safe and effective in the treatment of refractory angina in the COSIRA (Coronary Sinus Reducer for Treatment of Refractory Angina) randomized sham-controlled trial.
Objectives: This study sought to perform the primary endpoint analysis of the complete REDUCER-I (An Observational Study of the Neovasc Reducer System) study cohort.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. However, there is limited prospective evidence regarding the association between combined lifestyle factors and MASLD. This study aims to test the association of a combination of lifestyle components, expressed as a healthy lifestyle index (HLI), and unhealthful eating behavior habits with MASLD, insulin resistance (IR), liver fibrosis, and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.

Background & Aims: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is strongly related to nutrition. However, only a few human and animal studies have tested the association between MASLD and dairy consumption and the effect of milk fat on liver damage. Therefore, we aimed at testing the association between consumption of dairy product and the incidence of MASLD and fibrosis markers in humans, and the effect of milk fat other fats on MASLD in animal studies.

Introduction: The reasons for performing a circumcision among males after the neonatal period are usually cultural or medical. We aimed to evaluate parental regret for providing consent and to identify factors associated with such regret.
Methods: Included were the parents of males aged 6 months to 18 years who underwent circumcision under general anesthesia at a single center between 2/2017 and 01/2023.

Chronic pain causes a major burden on patient's lives, in part due to its profound socioeconomic impact. Despite the development of various pharmacological approaches and (minor) invasive treatments, a subset of patients remain refractory, hence why alternative targeted neurosurgical interventions like cingulotomy and deep brain stimulation of the anterior cingulate cortex should be considered in the last resort. Despite clinical evidence supporting the potential of these treatments in the management of chronic intractable pain, physicians remain reluctant on its clinical implementation.

Aims: To examine the usability of darvadstrocel therapy in managing perianal CD.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), encompassing Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gut affecting both adults and children. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are structures released by activated neutrophils, potentially contributing to tissue damage in various diseases. This study aimed to explore the presence and role of NETs in pediatric IBD.

The gold standard to estimate muscle mass and quality is computed tomography (CT) scan. Lower mass and density (intramuscular fat infiltration) of skeletal muscles are markers of sarcopenia, associated with increased mortality risk, impaired physical function, and poorer prognosis across various populations and medical conditions. We aimed to describe standard reference values in healthy population, prospective kidney donors, and correlate clinical parameters to muscle mass and density.
