MRI features have a role in pre-surgical planning of colloid cyst removal.

Acta Neurochir (Wien)

April 2016

Department of Neurosurgery, Sheba Tel-Hashomer Hospital, Affiliated to Tel Aviv University Sackler Medical School, Sheba Rd. 2, Ramat Gan, Israel.

Background: Endoscopic resection is becoming a well-established treatment option for patients with colloid cysts of the third ventricle. A disadvantage of this approach is the decreased ability to resect cysts in their entirety. Correlations between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and cyst content could potentially help surgeons decide on the extent of resection and approach.

Case Description: In this paper, we present a case of a 4-year-old male diagnosed with a desmoplastic, SHH-type medulloblastoma. Retrospectively, we discovered that the patient underwent an MRI scan at 21 months for reasons unrelated, revealing a T1-enhanced lesion at the vermis, later recognized as the source of the tumor. This unique case provides us with a glimpse into the natural history of this tumor.

[Attention deficit disorder in the preschool years: its characteristics and course from infancy to toddlerhood].

Harefuah

November 2001

Community Infant Mental Health Unit and Attention Deficit Disorder Unit, Geha Mental Health Center, Tel-Aviv University Sackler Medical School.

Diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder with/without hyperactivity in school-age children is based on the presence of the three main symptoms: lack of attention, impulsivity and hyperactivity. In infants and toddlers, these symptoms may very well be contingent to their development stage, but may also signify early signs of attention deficit disorder. Diagnosis in the age group of 2-5 years is very challenging, because reliable criteria are still lacking.

Normal and abnormal development of relationship is influenced by a myriad of genetic, psychological, cultural, and environmental factors in both the caregiver and the young child. In the past, professionals from different fields, like pediatrics, neurology, development, and social welfare, would understand the child and his or her environment with their own tools.

Ann Vasc Surg

November 1992

Lubinski Vascular Institute, Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Aviv University Sackler Medical School, Tel-Hashomer, Israel.

The present study was undertaken in order to develop numerical criteria for the parameters of laser Doppler flowmetry-skin blood flow velocity and pulse wave amplitude in the evaluation of lower extremity ischemia. Fifty limbs of young healthy volunteers were examined in order to obtain baseline normal values. Patient population was divided into moderately ischemic (52 limbs) and severely ischemic (22 limbs), based on patients' complaints, physical examination, ankle-brachial indices, pulse volume recordings and arteriographies.
