Objective: To reduce the damage of uterine endometrium caused during hysteroscopic myomectomy (HM) for reproductive aged patients, a new uterine endometrium preservation hysteroscopic myomectomy (UEP-HM) has been developed. In this study, we introduced this technique with comparing to the conventional hysteroscopic myomectomy (C-HM).
Study Design: The data from 94 patients aged 42 or younger who underwent HM (38 cases with UEP-HM and 56 cases with C-HM) for treating single Type 1 or Type 2 submucosal leiomyoma (SL) were analysed retrospectively for comparing the characteristics of both patient and target SL.

Background: Anticholinergic burden, reflecting the cumulative impact of medications with anticholinergic properties, significantly predicts adverse drug reactions and geriatric syndromes in older adults. Although anticholinergic risk scales (ARS) have been developed and validated in various countries, none have been tailored specifically for Japan. The Japanese Anticholinergic Risk Scale (JARS) was developed to adapt the existing ARS frameworks to the Japanese context, considering unique medication profiles and cultural factors.

Many older adults who are certified for long-term care services live or stay in long-term care facilities (LTCFs), where they receive medical and nursing care. These individuals often encounter medication-related problems, such as polypharmacy and complex medication regimens, including frequent administration schedules. Although considerable attention has been paid to polypharmacy in the context of optimizing medication use in older adults, little emphasis has been placed on simplifying these regimens.

Background: Research on the impact of angiographically detected residual trabeculation after left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is limited.
Objectives: To investigate the incidence, characteristics, and clinical implications of angiographically detected residual trabeculation after LAAC using the WATCHMAN device.
Methods: We analyzed 1350 consecutive patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing LAAC using the WATCHMAN device from the OCEAN-LAAC registry, which is a prospective ongoing, multicenter Japanese registry.

Background: Biologics are integral in the management of severe asthma. As the effectiveness of the anti-IL-5 receptor antibody benralizumab in Japan remains elusive, this study aimed to assess its real-world effectiveness in Japanese patients with severe asthma.
Methods: This prospective, interventional, single-arm clinical trial was conducted across ten facilities in Japan between September 2020 and July 2022.

The efficacy and safety of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery disease has been established, and approximately 250,000 PCI procedures are performed annually in Japan. However, various complications including life-threatening complications can occur during PCI. Although several bailout procedures have been proposed to address complications during PCI, it is critically important for operators to manage each complication in real catheter rooms with confidence even in emergent situations.

Background: Prosthesis-patient mismatch (PPM) after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is of greater concern in Asians, considering their relatively smaller annular sizes compared with Westerners. However, the prognostic significance of PPM in Asian populations has not been demonstrated.
Objectives: This study aimed to elucidate the prognostic value of PPM after TAVR in Asian patients.
Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is a benign salivary gland tumor with diverse cytomorphological and architectural features, typically presenting biphasic ductal structures within a chondromyxoid matrix. We report a unique case of PA where dense lymphoid infiltration disrupted these structures, resulting in duct-like slit structures lined with a single layer of spindle cells, lacking the biphasic pattern. These spindle cells demonstrated myoepithelial nature, confirmed by positive immunostaining for pan-cytokeratin, S100 protein, and calponin.

Nanaomycin K is a natural compound found in the culture broth of "Streptomyces rosa subsp. notoensis" OS-3966. Studies have shown that it inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), a recognized mechanism of cancer cell migration.

Background: Strabismus surgery, which is commonly performed in children, poses a high risk of postoperative vomiting. The current anesthesia guidelines for the prevention of postoperative vomiting in children are based on heterogeneous populations involving different types of surgery, and risk factors for postoperative vomiting in, specifically, the pediatric strabismus surgery population are unclear. Moreover, the effects of manipulating the deeply attached extraocular muscles and the oculocardiac reflex on this risk remain inconclusive.

Background: Cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis (CBTp) is not sufficiently widespread in clinical practice, although evidence has been presented.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore whether one-on-one videoconference-based CBTp (vCBTp) is more effective than usual care (UC) alone for improving psychiatric symptoms in patients with schizophrenia attending outpatient clinics.
Methods: In this exploratory randomized controlled trial, patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders who were still taking medication in an outpatient clinic were randomly assigned to either the vCBTp plus UC group (n=12) or the UC group (n=12).

Hypertension increases the risk of cerebrovascular disease and death. In addition to aerobic exercise, which is currently recommended for its antihypertensive effects, recent studies have suggested that dynamic and isometric resistance exercises also have antihypertensive effects. However, the magnitude of the antihypertensive effect of such resistance exercises is not well known.

Metabolomics and lipidomics are pivotal in understanding phenotypic variations beyond genomics. However, quantification and comparability of mass spectrometry (MS)-derived data are challenging. Standardised assays can enhance data comparability, enabling applications in multi-center epidemiological and clinical studies.

The treatment of the underlying cause of liver disease may potentially reverse hepatic fibrosis. However, it remains uncertain whether improvement in fibrosis can be observed in decompensated liver cirrhosis (LC). Here, we present a case of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)-related LC in which histological improvement of fibrosis was achieved despite the presence of decompensated LC.

Aim: Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD) is a complication after Fontan surgery, and a common cause of liver tumors and cirrhosis. However, no diagnostic criteria for FALD have been established, leading to an underestimation of its prevalence.
Methods: We conducted a national survey to elucidate the characteristics of FALD by collecting data from high-volume centers managing patients who had undergone the Fontan surgery in Japan.
