Background: Cardiac myxoma rarely occurs in the right ventricle, and as is a benign disease, it rarely shows high positivity on 18F fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).
Case Presentation: We present herein the case of a 77-year-old woman who was found to have a heart murmur during a routine health checkup. Further examination revealed a 27-mm tumor in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) and moderate aortic valve stenosis.

Here, we describe two cases of retained products of conception (RPOC) that were successfully managed with hysteroscopic resection after laparoscopic temporary uterine artery ligation. Both patients were diagnosed with RPOC after early miscarriages. Case 1 was urgently admitted due to massive bleeding and underwent surgery following a blood transfusion.

The efficacy and safety of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for coronary artery disease has been established, and approximately 250,000 PCI procedures are performed annually in Japan. However, various complications including life-threatening complications can occur during PCI. Although several bailout procedures have been proposed to address complications during PCI, it is critically important for operators to manage each complication in real catheter rooms with confidence even in emergent situations.

The Joint Committee for Nationwide Survey on colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) was established to improve treatment outcomes in patients with CRLM. The aim of this study was to evaluate the transition in the characteristics and treatment strategies of patients with CRLM and to analyze the prognostic factors. The data of 5085 patients newly diagnosed between 2013 and 2017 were compared with those of 3820 patients from 2005 and 2007.

Background: To improve the outcome in newly diagnosed glioblastoma patients with maximal resection, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of implantation of carmustine wafers (CWs), radiation concomitant with temozolomide and bevacizumab, and maintenance chemotherapy with six cycles of temozolomide and bevacizumab.
Method: This prospective phase II study enrolled glioblastoma patients considered candidates for complete resection (> 90%) of a contrast-enhanced lesion. The CWs were intraoperatively implanted into the resection cavity after achieving maximal resection.

Background/aim: Peritoneal dissemination (PD) is a frequent cause of death in gastric cancer (GC), and there is evidence of an association between protease-activated receptor-1 (PAR1) and the development of PD. This study hypothesized that PD in GC might be influenced by PAR1.
Materials And Methods: The cytotoxic effect of paclitaxel (PTX) on PAR1-transfected MKN45 (MKN45/PAR1) cells was analyzed using the MTT assay, and IC values were determined.

Rapid and accurate identification of bacterial species is essential for the effective treatment of infectious diseases and suppression of antibiotic-resistant strains. The unique autofluorescence properties of bacterial cells are exploited for rapid and cost-effective identification that is suitable for point-of-care applications. Fluorescence spectroscopy is combined with machine learning to improve the diagnostic accuracy.

In patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF) is one of the most common complications that is associated with a significant burden of mortality and healthcare resources. The clinical benefits of key HF drugs, the so-called "4 pillars" or "fantastic 4", namely β-blockers, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor, and sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors, have been established in patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction, whereas the effects of these drugs are not comprehensively appreciated in patients with acute MI. This review summarizes current evidence on pharmacological and device-based interventions for preventing HF after acute MI.

Objectives: Recombinant human soluble thrombomodulin (rTM) has recently been used as a promising therapeutic natural anti-coagulant drug for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Here we investigated the safety and efficacy of rTM after aortic surgery in patients with acute aortic dissection (AAD).
Methods: A total of 316 patients diagnosed with AAD underwent emergent ascending aortic replacement or total arch replacement between 2010 and 2019.
