Objectives: The study aimed to evaluate the relationship between maxillary sinus volume and various sinonasal anatomical variants, as detected by multi-detector computed tomography, and their associations with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS).
Material And Methods: A case-control study was conducted with 103 patients presenting with chronic sinonasal symptoms (cases) and 50 asymptomatic individuals (controls). A 128-slice computed tomography scanner was used to measure maxillary sinus volume and assess anatomical variants, such as a deviated nasal septum (DNS), concha bullosa (CB), and agger nasi cells.

Peripheral nerve blocks provide a safe and reliable alternative in the anesthetic management of femur fractures in elderly subpopulations associated with significant comorbidities. Single-Insertion Multiple Nerve Block Anesthesia (SIMBA) is a technique where a single needle insertion is used to block all four nerves that supply the femur shaft: the femoral nerve, obturator nerve, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, and sciatic nerve. The authors performed this technique in 11 cardiac compromised geriatric patients with midshaft/distal femur fractures, and the surgery was conducted successfully without any significant hemodynamic change and good postoperative analgesia.

The aim of this study is to assess the ability of serum MMP-3 and serum CTX-II levels to differentiate between normal and early knee osteoarthritis case (eKOA). Subjects with clinical features of primary knee osteoarthritis of K-L Grade I and K-L Grade II with ages more than 45 years were included in the case group (98), and healthy adults with ages less than 40 years were included in the control group (80). Those having knee pain for the last 3 months but having no radiological features were labeled as K-L grade I and those having minimal osteophytes on radiographs were labeled as K-L Grade II.

Introduction: Severe preeclampsia can lead to various complications including increased intracranial pressure (ICP) which can be catastrophic but difficult to detect because of variable nonspecific symptoms. Ultrasonography has been used as noninvasive measure to monitor optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) as a marker of raised ICP. Effect of MgSO on ICP can modify the management approach, need for additional monitoring, targeting hemodynamic goals, timing of delivery, and choice of anesthesia.

Background Prognostication plays a pivotal role in critical care medicine. Its importance is indisputable in the management of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), as the presentation of this disease may vary from docile, self-limiting symptoms to lethal conditions. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, much emphasis was initially placed on molecular and serological testing.

Background And Aims: The pain following total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH), a very commonly performed gynaecological surgery, is usually taken care of by various opioids, non-opioids, regional and peripheral nerve blocks. Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) under ultrasound guidance is a relatively new approach for postoperative analgesia in thoracic and abdominal surgeries. Ultrasound availability and expertise to use it is a limitation at times.

Background: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) a minimally invasive method for the removal of renal calculi and is associated with significant pain in postoperative period. Conventionally, intravenous opioids, local anesthetic infiltration, and regional blocks (intercostal/paravertebral blocks) have been tried with less efficacy to control postoperative pain. The present study is conducted to assess the effectiveness of erector spinae plane block (ESPB) performed under fluoroscopy guidance for postoperative analgesia during PCNL.

Unsafe abortion has a global incidence of about 20 million cases annually, out of which 97% cases are reported from developing nations. There are many reports showing the occurrence of bowel or uterine perforation in such instances, but most of them have concentrated upon surgical or obstetric complications. We report a case of unsafe abortion with ruptured uterus, intra-abdominal foetus, and bowel infarction that developed intraoperative cardiac arrest during the emergency laparotomy.

Background: Although fluid bolus is considered as a conventional prophylactic measure to prevent spinal-induced hypotension; vasopressors are nevertheless required. Low dose spinal anesthetics could markedly reduce such episodes of hypotension, by minimizing sympathetic blockade.
Aims: We chose to compare the relative efficacy of colloid preload versus coload under low dose spinal anesthesia, for elective cesarean delivery.

Cardiac arrest, irrespective of its etiology, has a high mortality. This event is often associated with brain anoxia which frequently causes severe neurological damage and persistent vegetative state. Only one out of every six patients survives to discharge following in-hospital cardiac arrest, whereas only 2-9% of patients who experience out of hospital cardiac arrest survive to go home.
