Nickel oxide-graphene oxide (NiO-GO), zinc oxide-graphene oxide (ZnO-GO) and bismuth oxide-graphene oxide (BiO-GO) metal oxide-graphene oxide nanocomposite (MO-GO NC) sensors, operable at room temperature, were synthesized via a simple and cost-effective microwave-assisted combustion method for chemiresistive gas sensor applications. From the measured structural, morphological, and elemental detection properties, the sensors are found capable of detecting various gases. The BiO-GO NC sensor exhibited excellent response over NiO-GO (~20 at 50 ppm) and ZnO-GO NC (~60 at 50 ppm) sensors for detecting NH.

A simple, room-temperature operable, glycerol-supported single beaker-inspired, and binder-free soft-chemical protocol has been developed to synthesize 3-D dandelion flower-type nickel chloride (NiCl) supercapattery (supercapacitor + battery) nanostructured electrode material from solid 3-D nickel-foam (NiF). The dandelion flower-type NiCl@NiF labeled as B electrode, demonstrates a battery-type electrochemical performance as obtained 1551 F·g specific capacitance (SC) and 95% cyclability over 50,000 cycles is higher than that of a setaria viridis-type NiCl@NiF electrode, prepared without glycerol labeled as A electrode. As a commercial market product, assembled NiCl@NiF@ (cathode)// BiMoO (anode) pouch-type asymmetric supercapacitor energy storage device demonstrates moderate energy density and power density (28 Wh·kg and 845 W·kg).

Moprhologies of the BiO nanosensors are tuned through polyethylene glycol, ethylene glycol, and ammonium fluoride surfactants. The crystal structure, type of crystallinity, and surface appearance are determined from the X-ray diffraction patterns, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy images.

The crystal architecture of TiO was successfully tailored a low-temperature (≤200 °C) hydrothermal process in the presence of d-mannitol for feasible applications in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and heterogeneous catalysis. In the development of anatase-TiO (A-TiO), d-mannitol does not merely acts as a complexing agent to manage the zigzag chains of octahedral TiO with dominant edge sharing but also performs as a capping agent by influencing the hydrolysis process during nucleation, as confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering studies. After physical measurements, the as-synthesized nanocrystallites (NCs) of A-TiO were used in DSSCs, where a fascinating power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.

H-Bonding abilities of ionic liquids (ILs) along with hydrophobicity and cooperativity effects increases their hydration numbers making them capable for dissolving sparingly soluble organic molecules in aqueous or polar nonaqueous media, and hence ILs are potential candidates in pharmaceutical and medicinal sciences besides the different technological and academic interests. In this work, dielectric spectra were measured and analyzed for diethylammonium-based protic ionic liquids (PILs), imidazolium-based aprotic ionic liquids (APILs), and their aqueous solutions (∼0.02 to ∼0.

Dielectric relaxation studies of rat tail tendon collagen with anionic sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS), cationic cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) and nonionic Tween 80 in aqueous buffer solutions at four different temperatures have been carried out in the frequency range 1 GHz to 25 GHz using time domain dielectric spectroscopy. The frequency dependent normalized dielectric modulus function P of the collagen and surfactant solutions show up as peaks around 1-2 GHz which is due to the bound water around collagen macromolecule and surfactant micelles. For the collagen - surfactant complexes, the peak in normalized dielectric modulus function P is shifted towards high frequency side near 2-3 GHz upon addition of surfactants to collagen in buffer solution.

donor⁻acceptorDonor⁻acceptor⁻π⁻acceptor⁻donor (D1-A1-π-A2/A3-D2)-type small molecules, such TPA-MC-2 and TPA-MC-3, were designed and synthesized starting from donor-substituted alkynes (TPA-MC-1) via [2 + 2] cycloaddition-retroelectrocyclization reaction with tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) units, respectively. TPA-MC-2 and TPA-MC-3 chromophores differ on the A2/A3 acceptor subunit, which is 1,1,4,4-tetracyanobutadiene (TCBD) and a dicyanoquinodicyanomethane (DCQDCM), respectively. Both the derivative bearing same donors D1 (triphenylamine) and D2 (trimethylindolinm) and also same A1 (monocyano) as an acceptor, tetracyano with an aryl rings as the π-bridging moiety.

The capability of the multiconfigurational restricted active space approach to identify electronic structure from spectral fingerprints is explored by applying it to iron L-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) of three heme systems that represent the limiting descriptions of iron in the Fe-O bond, ferrous and ferric [Fe(P)(ImH)] (P = porphine, ImH = imidazole), and Fe(P). The level of agreement between experimental and simulated spectral shapes is calculated using the cosine similarity, which gives a quantitative and unbiased assignment. Further dimensions in fingerprinting are obtained from the L-edge branching ratio, the integrated absorption intensity, and the edge position.
