The simple modification of the Schiff-base ligands often brings significant changes in the coordination properties of the metal-complexes, providing newer prospects for their unexplored applications. In this context, the present work utilized the "self-adaptable" acyclic diiminodipyrromethane Schiff's bases (2a and 2b) for the synthesis of their Zn-based complexes and explored their potential in the ring-opening polymerization of benzoxazines. The two zinc complexes of composition [Zn{(Ph)(CH)C(2,6-PrCH-N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH-CHN)(2,6-PrCH-N[double bond, length as m-dash]CH-CHNH)}] (3) and [ZnCl{(Ph)(CH)C(PhC-NH[double bond, length as m-dash]CH-CHN)}] (4) were synthesized in good yields, and the structures were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD).

Techniques to Control Microbial Contaminants in Nonsterile Microalgae Cultivation.

Appl Biochem Biotechnol

December 2020

Center of Excellence, Department of Biotechnology, Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed to be University), Vadlamu, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, di-522316, India.

The aim of this mini-review with own results was an identification of techniques to suppress the growth of microbial contaminants under photo- and mixotrophic conditions. Techniques identified are the modification of environmental conditions, such as pH, oxygen, and nutrient concentrations, as well as the application of pulsed electric field, ultrasonication, and surfactants. In phototrophic cultivations, the mentioned techniques result in a decrease of number of predatory cells, but not in a complete removal.

Four binuclear Ni(II) complexes [[Ni(H-DEAsal-tsc)(μ-dppm)]·2Cl (1), [Ni(DEAsal-mtsc)(μ-dppm)] (2), [Ni(DEAsal-etsc)(μ-dppm)] (3) and [Ni(DEAsal-ptsc)(μ-dppm)] (4)] were synthesized from the ligands namely 4(N,N)-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde-4(N)-thiosemicarbazone [H-DEAsal-tsc] HL/4(N,N)-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde-4(N)-methyl thiosemicarbazone [H-DEAsal-mtsc] HL/4(N,N)-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde-4(N)-ethyl thiosemicarbazone [H-DEAsal-etsc] HL/4(N,N)diethylaminosalicylaldehyde-4(N)-phenyl thiosemicarbazone [H-DEAsal-ptsc] HL and 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane (dppm) and characterized by a number of spectro analytical techniques. The molecular structure of complexes [Ni(H-DEAsal-tsc)(μ-dppm)]·2Cl (1) and [Ni(DEAsal-ptsc)(μ-dppm)] (4) have been confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The analysis indicated that in complex 1, the ligand [H-DEAsal-tsc] coordinated as monobasic tridentate donor through phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and thione sulfur atoms.

Functional characterization of a broad and potent neutralizing monoclonal antibody directed against outer membrane protein (OMP) of Salmonella typhimurium.

Appl Microbiol Biotechnol

March 2020

Department of Microbiology, Defence Research & Development Establishment (DRDE - DRDO), Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, 474 002, India.

In the present study, we have generated a murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) named Sal-06 by using the crude outer membrane protein preparation of Salmonella enteric subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium ATCC 14028 strain as antigen. Sal-06mAb belonging to IgG1 isotype demonstrated broad cross-reactivity to standard and isolated strains of genus Salmonella and others such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, and Proteus mirabilis.

Sci Prog

June 2019

Department of Sciences and Humanities, Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed to be University), Guntur, India.

Green pest management is an environmental-friendly pest management that helps to control pests and reduces harmful use of pesticides. Pests like woodworms, longhorn beetles, fruit flies, spiders, termites and paper mites in the buildings degrade the carpets, leather, wood, cloth, food, utensils and so on. They can spread diseases, damage properties and contaminate food in our home.

In an endeavor to find the novel natural radioprotector to secure normal cells surrounding cancerous cell during radiation exposure, () aqueous stem bark extract was evaluated for radioprotective activity using , and models. extract exhibited concentration dependent protective effect on electron beam radiation (EBR) induced damage to pBR322 DNA; the highest protection was achieved at 150 μg concentrations. Similarly, extract (400 mg/kg) administrated to mice prior to irradiation protected DNA from the radiation damage, which was confirmed by inhibiting comet parameters.

Background: Capsaicin is an active alkaloid /principal component of red pepper responsible for the pungency of chili pepper. Capsaicin by changing the intracellular redox homeostasis regulate a variety of signaling pathways ultimately producing a divergent cellular outcome. Several reports showed the potential of capsaicin against cancer metastasis, however unexplored molecular mechanism is still an active part of the research.

Antibody cross-reactivity is a problem often associated with closely related antigens. This study was aimed to develop a method enabling differentiation of closely related toxins based on antigen designing strategy. The method involves identification of disparate amino acids (AA) confined to target antigen in comparison with two or more closely related antigens, their assembly into a DNA oligomer and further cloning as six tandem repeats (TR) using restriction and ligation strategy into a desired vector and finally generation of antigen specific antibodies.
