Mn(II)-based halides have recently garnered significant interest as emerging luminescence materials for diverse photonic applications. Generally, Mn(II) hybrids with tetrahedral coordination show green emission, however, ones with octahedral coordination give red emission. Herein, we design the synthesis of tetrahedral Mn(II) pseudohalide hybrids, (RPhP)MnBrNCS (R=phenyl, pentyl or methyl; PhP=triphenylphosphine; x=1-3), achieved by gradually substituting bromides with pseudohalides (NCS).

Ultrabright broadband near-infrared (NIR) phosphor-converted laser diode (pc-LD) as a light source is increasingly essential for improving the sensitivity and spatial resolution of intelligent NIR spectroscopy technologies. However, the performance of NIR pc-LD is greatly hindered by the low external quantum efficiency (EQE) and poor thermal resistance of phosphor materials. Herein, a highly stable phosphor-in-ceramic (PiC) film deposited on high thermal conductivity substrate, in which the NIR-emitting CaMgHfGeO:Cr phosphor is incorporated into a glass-crystallized CaGaGeO ceramic matrix, along with the formation of a new type PiC composite material with high efficiency, absorbance, and thermal conductivity, is designed and prepared.

Luminescent metal halides are attracting growing attention as scintillators for X-ray imaging in safety inspection, medical diagnosis, etc. Here we present brand-new hybrid Eu(II)-bromide scintillators, 1D type [EtN]EuBr·MeOH and 0D type [MeN]EuBr·MeOH, with spin-allowed 5d-4f bandgap transition emission toward simplified carrier transport during scintillation process. The 1D/0D structures with edge/face -sharing [EuBr] octahedra further contribute to lowing bandgaps and enhancing quantum confinement effect, enabling efficient scintillation performance (light yield ~73100 ± 800 Ph MeV, detect limit ~18.

Deep learning has been studied in recent years to identify periapical lesions- a significant indicator of periapical periodontitis in radiographs. An accurate dataset is essential for constructing an efficient learning model for detecting periapical lesions. In order to achieve this goal, we gathered and created a database of panoramic radiographs containing periapical lesions from the High-quality Dental Treatment Centre, School of Dentistry, Hanoi Medical University, between January 2016 and March 2021.

Low-dimensional metal halide perovskites are an emerging class of light-emitting materials for LED-based displays; however, their B-site cations are confined to ns, d and d metals. Here, the design of divalent rare earth ions at B-site is presented and a novel Eu(II)-based iodide hybrid is reported with efficient (PLQY ≈98%) narrow-band (FWHM ≈43 nm) green emission and high thermal stability (97%@150 °C). Owing to reduced lattice vibrations and shrunken average distance of Eu(II)-iodide bonds in the face-sharing 1D-structure, photoluminescence from Eu(II) 4f-5d transition appears along with elevated crystal-field splitting of 5d energy level.

Phosphor-glass composites (PGC) are excellent candidates for highly efficient and stable photonic converters; however, their synthesis generally requires harsh procedures and long time, resulting in additional performance loss and energy consumption. Here we develop a rapid synthetic route to PGC within about 10 seconds, which enables uniform dispersion of YAlO:Ce (YAG:Ce) phosphor particles through a particle self-stabilization model in molten tellurite glass. Thanks for good wettability between YAG:Ce micro-particles and tellurite glass melt, it creates an energy barrier of 6.

Laser-driven phosphor-converted white light sources are highly desirable for their unprecedented energy efficiency and lighting quality. However, important challenges remain due to a lack of efficient and stable red-emitting materials. Here Eu -activated oxide-based double perovskites are explored as red emitters with thermally stable photoluminescence.

X-ray imaging has received sustained attention for healthcare diagnostics and nondestructive inspection. To develop photonic materials with tunable photophysical properties in principle accelerates radiation detection technologies. Here the rational design and synthesis of doped halide perovskite CsCdCl :Mn , R (R = Ti, Zr, Hf, and Sn) are reported as next generation X-ray storage phosphors, and the capability is greatly improved by trap management via Mn site occupation manipulation and heterovalent substitution.

Treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is a challenge because it still leads to unsatisfactory clinical prognosis. This is due to the toxicity and poor targeting of chemotherapeutic agents, as well as metastasis of the tumor. In this study, we designed a targeted liposome with nanostructures to overcome these problems.

Migraine is a periodic disorder in which a patient experiences changes in the morphological and functional brain, leading to the abnormal processing of repeated external stimuli in the inter-ictal phase, known as the habituation deficit. This is a significant feature clinically of migraine in both two types with aura or without aura and plays an essential role in studying pathophysiological differences between these two groups. Several studies indicated that the reason for migraine aura is cortical spreading depression (CSD) but did not clarify its impact on migraine without aura and lack of habituation.

Zero-dimensional (0D) hybrid metal halides with unique compositional and structural tunability appear as an emerging class of luminescent materials, but near-infrared (NIR) emitters therein are largely unexplored to date. This study presents three novel 0D hybrid antimony chlorines with edge-sharing [Sb Cl ] dimers, showing unusual room-temperature broadband NIR emission with the maximum emission wavelength up to 1070 nm. Photoluminescence studies and density functional theory calculation demonstrate that the emissions originate from the highly localized excitons, and that the confined [Sb Cl ] dimers in these structures show low symmetry and a large degree of structural freedom.

Broadband near-infrared (NIR) light sources based on phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (pc-LEDs) are desirable for various photonics applications, while developing thermally stable NIR phosphors remains a great challenge. Increasing the temperature accelerates the severe nonradiative relaxation process gorverned by the intrinsic energy gap law, which further suspends the efficient low-energy emission of Cr emitters in the inorganic lattice. To address this rule, several state-of-the-art strategies have been put forward in this perspective to modulate the critical law from the viewpoints of (1) crystal structure design, (2) defect engineering, (3) strengthened rigidity, and (4) energy transfer.

Stroke is the second foremost cause of death worldwide and is one of the most common causes of disability. Several approaches have been proposed to manage stroke patient rehabilitation such as robotic devices and virtual reality systems, and researchers have found that the brain-computer interfaces (BCI) approaches can provide better results. Therefore, the most challenging tasks with BCI applications involve identifying the best technique(s) that can reveal the neuron stimulus information from the patients' brains and extracting the most effective features from these signals as well.
