The application of disposable tableware has increased substantially in recent times due to the rapidly growing food delivery business in China. Synthetic phenolic antioxidants (SPAs) are widely used in food contact materials (FCMs) to delay the process of oxidation; however, their compositions, concentrations, and potential health hazards remain unclear. Therefore, FCMs comprised of five materials obtained from 19 categories (n = 118) in China were analyzed for SPAs concentrations.

Saliva, an oral secretion primarily originating from salivary glands (SGs), exert critical roles in the ongoing evolutionary interaction between insects and plants. However, identifying insect salivary components poses challenges due to the tiny size of insects, low secretion amounts, and the propensity for degradation after secretion. In this study, we developed a transcriptome-based approach to comprehensively analyze the salivary proteins of the short-headed planthopper, Epeurysa nawaii, a species with unique feeding habits on bamboo.

To evade host antiviral response, viruses have evolved to take advantage of their noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). Snakehead vesiculovirus (SHVV), a newly isolated fish rhabdovirus from diseased hybrid snakehead, has caused high mortality to the cultured snakehead fish during the past years in China. However, little is known about the mechanisms of its pathogenicity.

Apolipoprotein D (ApoD), a member of the lipocalin superfamily of proteins, is involved in lipid transport and stress resistance. Whereas only a single copy of the ApoD gene is found in humans and some other vertebrates, there are typically several ApoD-like genes in insects. To date, there have been relatively few studies that have examined the evolution and functional differentiation of ApoD-like genes in insects, particularly hemi-metabolous insects.

Background: The brown planthopper (BPH) is one of the most destructive agricultural pests in Asia. RNA interference (RNAi)-mediated pest management has been under development for years, and the selection of appropriate target genes is important for pest-targeted RNAi. C-type lectins (CTLs) are a class of genes that perform a variety of functions, such as the regulation of growth and development.

Infectious hematopoietic necrosis (IHN) and infectious pancreatic necrosis (IPN) are the most common viral diseases of salmon in aquaculture worldwide. The co-infection of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) with IHN virus (IHNV) and IPN virus (IPNV) is known to occur. To determine the influence of IPNV on IHNV in co-infection, rainbow trout were intraperitoneally (i.

The effects of crude lentinan (CLNT) on the intestinal microbiota and the immune barrier were evaluated in rainbow trout () infected by infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHNV). The results showed that supplementary CLNT declined the rainbow trout mortality caused by IHNV, which suggested that CLNT has preventive effects on IHNV infection. IHNV destroyed intestinal integrity, as well as caused the intestinal oxidative and damage in rainbow trout.

The inhibition of hydrogen peroxide (HO) on the cysteine-mediated aggregation of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) has great potential to rapidly visualize HO and disease-associated biomarkers. However, associated applications have been rigid due to the low cysteine-oxidation efficiency or the insufficient interference-resistance of previous catalysts. Here, we proposed a novel AuNPs colorimetric method termed Fe-catalyzed HO-preventing aggregation of AuNPs by oxidizing Cysteine (FeHOAuC) for the visible and rapid detection of HO with high specificity.

A rapid, selective, and sensitive method was developed for the detection of carbendazim and thiabendazole in edible vegetable oil. Two benzimidazole analytes were pre-concentrated by magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) using flowerlike Ni-NiO composite as sorbents and followed by LC-MS/MS analysis. The flowerlike Ni-NiO composite sorbent displayed a high affinity towards benzimidazole analytes due to the reversible coordination interaction between the Ni(Ⅱ) ion and the electron-donating imidazole group.

A dsRNA segment was identified in the fungus isolated from tea plants. The complete dsRNA sequence, determined by random cloning together with RACE protocol, is 2,461 bp in length with an AU-rich content (62.37%) and comprises a single ORF of 2,265-nucleotides encoding an RNA-dependent RNA-polymerase (RdRp, 754 amino acids in size).

A recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) assay was established for the rapid detection of Decapod iridescent virus 1 using primers targeted to the virus's ATPase gene (ORF114R). Optimization experiments showed that the optimal amplification temperature of the RPA assay was 37 °C and that the reaction could be completed within only 15 min. The target band of 15 min.

This paper reports a simple, sensitive and reliable method for the simultaneous detection of aflatoxin B1, B2, G1 and G2 in vegetable oils. Aflatoxins were extracted by magnetic solid phase extraction followed by high-performance liquid chromatography, then postcolumn photochemical derivatization and finally detected by fluorescence detector. Vegetable oil samples were first diluted with hexane and then commercial bare Fe3O4 nanoparticles were directly employed as sorbents to extract aflatoxins from complex vegetable oil samples, which significantly simplified the procedure of sample preparation and largely improved the sample analysis throughput.

Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) is a common pathogen that causes huge economic losses for the salmonid aquaculture industry. Autophagy plays an important regulatory role in the invasion of pathogenic microorganisms. In this study, we explored the relationship between IPNV infection and autophagy in Chinook salmon embryo (CHSE-214) cells using standard methods.
