The average resistive index (RI) as a function of the average vessel diameter (D) was studied in the human carotid arterial tree. Data were used from previously published research measurements taken from 505 different vessels of 371 healthy humans. When the RI from the carotid arteries was included in the data set the standard trend lines did not give efficient fits.
