Diclofenac sodium tablets were successfully prepared via hot-melt extrusion (HME) and fused deposition modeling (FDM), using different molecular-weight (Mw) grades of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) as the main excipient. Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) was added to facilitate HME and to produce drug-loaded, uniform filaments. The effect of the HEC grades (90-1000 kDa) on the processability of HME and FDM was assessed.

Biofabrication methods such as extrusion-based bioprinting allow the manufacture of cell-laden structures for cell therapy, but it is important to provide a sufficient number of embedded cells for the replacement of lost functional tissues. To address this issue, we investigated mass transfer rates across a bioink hydrogel for the essential nutrients glucose and glutamine, their metabolites lactate and ammonia, the electron acceptor oxygen, and the model protein bovine serum albumin. Diffusion coefficients were calculated for these substances at two temperatures.

The goal of this work is to set up an electric propulsion (EP) sputtering test section as a feasibility study for ground-based sputter testing of spacecraft materials with a radio-frequency ion thruster. Such experiments deliver valuable data, which are scarce but highly desired to model EP-based space missions, for example, with the Spacecraft Plasma Interaction System in order to predict the performance and lifetime of spacecraft components. This study assessed if sufficient testing conditions can be met to produce reliable experimental material data in the future.

The native extracellular matrix (ECM), which forms the scaffold for cells, consists of several components including collagen as a gelling agent to confer mechanical stiffness and provide a substrate for cell attachment. Background: Schizotypy is a putative risk phenotype for psychosis liability, but the overlap of its genetic architecture with schizophrenia is poorly understood.

Methods: We tested the hypothesis that dimensions of schizotypy (assessed with the SPQ-B) are associated with a polygenic risk score (PRS) for schizophrenia in a sample of 623 psychiatrically healthy, non-clinical subjects from the FOR2107 multi-centre study and a second sample of 1133 blood donors.

Results: We did not find correlations of schizophrenia PRS with either overall SPQ or specific dimension scores, nor with adjusted schizotypy scores derived from the SPQ (addressing inter-scale variance).

It has been suggested that some non-schizophrenic individuals may exhibit PLEs frequently, but in a fashion that is not distressing but life-enhancing ("benign schizotypy"). In schizophrenia and at-risk individuals, however, psychotic symptoms are not only distressing, but also triggered stress.

Psychotic disorders and schizophrenia-spectrum personality disorders (PD) with psychotic/psychotic-like symptoms are considerably linked both historically and phenomenologically. In particular with regard to schizotypal and schizotypal personality disorder (SPD), this is evidenced by their placement in a joint diagnostic category of non-affective psychoses in the InternationaI Classification of Diseases 10th Revision, (CD-10) and, half-heartedly, the fifth edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, (DSM-5).
