Background: Volatilomics is a powerful tool capable of providing novel biomarkers for medical diagnosis and therapy monitoring. The objective of this study is to identify potential volatile biomarkers of gastric cancer.
Methods: The volatilomic signatures of gastric tissues obtained from two distinct populations were investigated using gas chromatography with mass spectrometric detection.

In vitro studies can help reveal the biochemical pathways underlying the origin of volatile indicators of numerous diseases. The key objective of this study is to identify the potential biomarkers of gastric cancer. For this purpose, the volatilomic signatures of two human gastric cancer cell lines, AGS (human gastric adenocarcinoma) and SNU-1 (human gastric carcinoma), and one normal gastric mucosa cell line (GES-1) were investigated.

Purpose: Low-grade intermediate-risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (LG IR NMIBC) is a recurrent disease, thus requiring repeated transurethral resection of bladder tumor under general anesthesia. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of UGN-102, a mitomycin-containing reverse thermal gel, as a primary chemoablative therapeutic alternative to transurethral resection of bladder tumor for patients with LG IR NMIBC.
Materials And Methods: This prospective, phase 2b, open-label, single-arm trial recruited patients with biopsy-proven LG IR NMIBC to receive 6 once-weekly instillations of UGN-102.

Background: The objective of this Markov model lifetime cost-effectiveness analysis was to evaluate a new medical device technology which minimizes redo colonoscopies on the outcomes of cost, quality of life, and aversion of colorectal cancers (CRC).
Methods: A new technology (PureVu® System) which cleans inadequately prepped colons was evaluated using TreeAge 2019 software in patients who presented with inadequate prep in outpatient settings in the US. PureVu was compared to the standard of care (SOC).

Children with dyslexia exhibit slow and inaccurate reading, as well as problems in executive functions. Decreased signal activation in brain regions related to visual processing and executive functions has been observed with functional magnetic resonance imaging with reports of sex differences in brain patterns for visual processing regions. However, the underlying neurochemistry associated with deficits in executive functions for children with dyslexia has not been thoroughly evaluated.

Pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas are uncommon abnormalities of capillary development which cause right to left shunting and, if not treated, may lead to severe neurological complications, including meningitis and brain abscess. Pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas are commonly a result of hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (Rendu-Osler-Weber disease) and both conditions may be readily diagnosed by careful history taking and physical examination. Two cases of brain abscess associated with hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia, which remained unrecognized for many years, are reported.

Background And Purpose: Recently, supraventricular tachycardia has been reported following right hemisphere stroke, suggesting a reduction in parasympathetic cardiac innervation after stroke of the right hemisphere. We performed power spectrum analysis of fluctuations in RR interval duration in the electrocardiogram in an attempt to determine how ischemic stroke influences autonomic cardiac innervation.
Methods: Power spectrum analysis of the variation in 256 consecutive electrocardiographic RR intervals was performed using the fast-Fourier transformation.

The incidence of second primary cancer (SPC) was determined in 64 irradiated stage I testicular seminoma patients, treated and followed at the Northern Israel Oncology Center from 1968 to 1988. Seven (11%) patients developed a total of eight second cancers. The cumulative risk for developing second primary cancer at ten, 15 and 20 years following the diagnosis of seminoma was 2.

This study provides newer information concerning the extracellular matrix of neonatal condylar cartilage--a genuine representative of a secondary type of cartilage. In addition, the data presented hereby indicate that the condylar cartilage contains a population of progenitor cells that synthesise Type I collagen rather than Type II. Under normal conditions in vivo local biomechanical factors influence the progenitor cells to differentiate into cartilage cells and thereby to shift their synthetic pathway from Type I collagen to Type II collagen--the typical collagen of cartilage extracellular matrix.

Chloroplasts were treated with 2 m sodium bromide. The resulting particles lost their ATPase activity and chloroplast coupling factor 1 subunits were detected in the supernatant by means of gel electrophoresis and specific antibodies. The chloroplast coupling factor 1 depleted particles show high rates of Hill reaction with pH optimum shifted toward lower pH.
