This paper explores the influence of various camera settings on the quality of 3D reconstructions, particularly in indoor crime scene investigations. Utilizing Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) and Gaussian Splatting for 3D reconstruction, we analyzed the impact of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture settings on the quality of the resulting 3D reconstructions. By conducting controlled experiments in a meeting room setup, we identified optimal settings that minimize noise and artifacts while maximizing detail and brightness.

Graphene oxide-mediated photothermal therapy using femtosecond lasers has recently shown promise in treating hepatocellular carcinoma. However, significant work remains to optimize irradiation parameters for specific nanoparticle types and cancer cells to improve nanomaterial-mediated photothermal anticancer therapy. This study investigated the photothermal potential of nGO and nGO-PEG nanoparticles (NPs) combined with femtosecond laser irradiation at 515 nm and 1030 nm wavelengths, with varying power (0.

This study developed a novel 3D-printable poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)-based nanocomposite incorporating 6 wt% graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) with programmable characteristics for resistive heating applications. The results highlighted the significant effect of a controlled printing direction (longitudinal, diagonal, and transverse) on the electrical, thermal, Joule heating, and thermo-resistive properties of the printed structures. The 6 wt% GNP/PVDF nanocomposite exhibited a high electrical conductivity of 112 S·m when printed in a longitudinal direction, which decreased significantly in other directions.

Background: This retrospective clinical study aims to compare the functional and radiological outcomes after open reduction and internal fixation versus minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis of unstable proximal humerus fractures treated with both locking plate and intramedullary graft.
Methods: Forty-seven patients with proximal humerus fractures were treated with either open reduction and internal fixation (25 cases) or minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (22 cases) and evaluated retrospectively with a minimum follow-up of 12 months. Thirty-one fresh-frozen fibulae and 16 lyophilized tibia allografts were used for augmentation.

Piezoresistive microcantilever sensors for the detection of viruses, pathogens, and trace chemical gasses, with appropriate measurement and signal processing methods, can be a powerful instrument with high speed and sensitivity, with in situ and real-time capabilities. This paper discusses a novel method for mass sensing on the order of a few femtograms, using a dual-microcantilever piezoresistive sensor with a vibrating common base. The two microcantilevers have controllably shifted natural frequencies with only one of them being active.

One of the key parameters in radio link planning is the propagation path loss. Most of the existing methods for its prediction are not characterized by a good balance between accuracy, generality, and low computational complexity. To address this problem, a machine learning approach for path loss prediction is presented in this study.

This paper presents a new method for correction of dynamic errors occurring when measuring flat surfaces in the presence of mechanical effects. Mechanical effects cause inertial forces and moments that affect the moving components of measuring instruments, thereby causing dynamic errors. The study proposes a mathematical model, on the basis of which algorithms for correction of dynamic errors can be developed.

Tribocatalysis is an emerging advanced oxidation process that utilizes the triboelectric effect, based on friction between dissimilar materials to produce charges that can initiate various catalytic reactions. In this study, pure and rare-earth-modified ZnO powders (LaO, EuO, 2 mol %) were demonstrated as efficient tribocatalysts for the removal of the tetracycline antibiotic doxycycline (DC). While the pure ZnO samples achieved 49% DC removal within 24 h at a stirring rate of 100 rpm, the addition of EuO increased the removal efficiency to 67%, and LaO-modified ZnO powder exhibited the highest removal efficiency, reaching 80% at the same stirring rate.

This work presents the development and testing of an experimental web-based SDR (software-defined radio) monitoring system for indirect solar activity detection, which has the ability to estimate and potentially predict various events in space and on earth, including solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and geomagnetic storms. The proposed system can be used to investigate the effect of solar activity on the propagation of very-low-frequency (VLF) signals. The advantages and benefits of the given approach are as follows: increasing measurement accuracy and eventual solar activity identification by combining measurements from multiple spatially distributed SDRs.

Herein, we investigate the potential application of a composite consisting of PEDOT:PSS/Graphene, deposited via spray coating on a flexible substrate, as an autonomous conducting film for applications in wearable biosensor devices. The stability of PEDOT:PSS/Graphene is assessed through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear polarization (LP) during exposure to an artificial sweat electrolyte, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed to investigate the morphological changes in the layer following these. The results indicate that the layers exhibit predominant capacitive behavior in the potential range of -0.

The typical spectrally limited laser pulse in the near-infrared region is narrow-band up to 40-50 fs. Its spectral width Δ is much smaller than the carrying wavenumber (Δ ≪ ) . For such kinds of pulses, on distances of a few diffraction lengths, the diffraction is of a Fresnel's type and their evolution can be described correctly in the frame of the well-known paraxial evolution equation.

This work presents the results of research conducted with an aim to improve the surface quality, hardness and wear resistance of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V, obtained via the laser powder bed fusion of metals (PBF-LB/M) process of additive manufacturing (AM) known as the 3D printing of metals. The 3D surfaces were coated via reactive electrospark deposition (RESD) with low-pulse energy and electrode materials of low-melting metals and multi-component hard alloys. The relationship between the electrical parameters of the RESD process and the quality, composition, structure, microhardness and wear resistance of the treated surfaces were investigated and analysed.
