Purpose: To explore diagnostic deep learning for optimizing the prostate MRI protocol by assessing the diagnostic efficacy of MRI sequences.
Method: This retrospective study included 840 patients with a biparametric prostate MRI scan. The MRI protocol included a T2-weighted image, three DWI sequences (b50, b400, and b800 s/mm), a calculated ADC map, and a calculated b1400 sequence.

In the last decades, laparoscopic surgery has become the gold standard in patients with colorectal cancer. To overcome the drawback of reduced tactile feedback, real-time tissue classification could be of great benefit. In this ex vivo study, hyperspectral imaging (HSI) was used to distinguish tumor tissue from healthy surrounding tissue.

Colorectal surgery is the standard treatment for patients with colorectal cancer. To overcome two of the main challenges, the circumferential resection margin and postoperative complications, real-time tissue assessment could be of great benefit during surgery. In this ex vivo study, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) was used to differentiate tumor tissue from healthy surrounding tissues in patients with colorectal neoplasia.

Introduction: Anatomic imaging alone is often inadequate for tuning systemic treatment for individual tumor response. Optically based techniques could potentially contribute to fast and objective response monitoring in personalized cancer therapy. In the present study, we evaluated the feasibility of dual-modality diffuse reflectance spectroscopy-autofluorescence spectroscopy (DRS-AFS) to monitor the effects of systemic treatment in a mouse model for hereditary breast cancer.

Manual volume measurement of intracranial aneurysms from 3D rotational angiography varies on different threshold settings and, therefore, is operator-dependent. We developed and validated a method based on automatic gradient edge detection that is independent on threshold settings and provides an accurate and reproducible volume measurement. This method was compared with manual volume calculation in 13 aneurysm phantoms, and the results were significantly more accurate.

A solution of urea, sulphur dioxide and sodium salicylate in methanol is proposed as the solvent in the Karl Fischer titration, with a separate iodine solution as titrant. Comparison of the performance of this solvent with that of some commercial reagents shows that it is has distinct advantages for use with amine samples.
