Male breast cancer (MBC) is rare and usually presents as a locally advanced disease. Stromal tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (sTILs) are associated with a better response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and improved prognosis in all molecular subtypes of female breast cancer, but their role in MBC is less clear. We studied sTILs and the expression of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) and pan-TRK in MBC.

Background: Spinal cord injury (SCI) leads to various degrees of lifelong functional deficits. Most individuals with incomplete SCI experience a certain degree of functional recovery, especially within the first-year postinjury. However, this is difficult to predict, and surrogate biomarkers are urgently needed.

Background: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury can lead to reduced function, meniscal lesions, and early joint degeneration. Preservation of a torn ACL using the Internal Brace technique might re-establish normal knee kinematics, avoid donor-site morbidity due to tendon harvesting, and potentially maintain proprioception of the knee.
Methods: Fifty subjects were recruited for this study between December 2015 and October 2016.

Background: A fracture of the calcaneus can be a painful and disabling injury. Treatment modalities may be conservative or operative. Surgical treatment strategies include open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) techniques, as well as a variety of minimally invasive methods.

Primary and metastatic cardiac sarcomas represent rare neoplasms with a variable clinical course. We present a rare case of an 84-year-old man with a cardiac pacemaker and heart osteosarcoma, hepatocellular and prostatic carcinoma, who was admitted with suspected symptoms of infective endocarditis. Findings of cardiac osteosarcoma in a patient with a pacemaker and three malignancies have not been reported before in the literature.

Background: Degloving injuries of the fingers and especially the thumb are highly demanding problems in hand surgery and replantation often is not successful because of severe soft tissue contusion. Only few cases of successfull replantation for hand degloving injuries in thumbs are reported in literature.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a young right hand dominant worker experiencing an occupational accident with a circumferential avulsion of his right thumbs' soft tissue at the level of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint with complete skeletization of his thumb and a deep laceration of the nail bed as he got trapped in a machine.

Objectives: Objective return to sport (RTS) criteria after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are lacking. Study purposes were (1) to report Limb Symmetry Index (LSI) values achieved in a test battery, (2) to detect how many subjects meet RTS criteria 12-18 months post-operative and (3) to identify whether patient-administered scores predict RTS criteria.
Design: Observer-blinded, cross-sectional observational study.

Background: Mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 are associated with better survival in ovarian cancer (OC) patients due to a better response to platinum-based chemotherapy. However, the impact of the BRCA1/2 mRNA-expression is not well characterized in OC.
Patients And Methods: We investigated BRCA1/2 mRNA-expression in 12 non-neoplastic fallopian tubes and 201 epithelial OCs in relation to their clinical characteristics.

Checkpoint molecules such as programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) and its ligand PD-L1 are critically required for tumor immune escape. The objective of this study was to investigate tumoral and mRNA-expression in a cohort of ovarian cancer (OC) patients in relation to tumor mutations. We analyzed mRNA expression of , and by quantitative real-time PCR in tissue of 170 patients with low grade-serous (LGSOC), high-grade serous (HGSOC), endometrioid and clear cell OC compared to 28 non-diseased tissues (ovaries and fallopian tubes) in relation to tumor protein 53 () and breast cancer gene 1/2 () mutation status.

On a clinicopathological and molecular level, two distinctive types of endometrial carcinoma, type I and type II, can be distinguished. Endometrioid carcinoma, the typical type I carcinoma, seems to develop through an estrogen-driven "adenoma carcinoma" pathway from atypical endometrial hyperplasia/endometrioid intraepithelial neoplasia (AEH/EIN). It is associated with elevated serum estrogen and high body mass index and expresses estrogen and progesterone receptors.
