Background: Rabies remains a significant public health concern in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas with limited awareness and resources. Gombe State is recognized as a rabies hotspot, facing challenges in controlling the spread of the disease. This study aimed to assess and compare the knowledge and prevention practices related to rabies among community members in hotspot and non-hotspot areas of Gombe State.

Study Design: From the TRUFFLE 2 feasibility study (856 women with singleton pregnancy at 32 to 36 weeks of gestation and at risk of fetal growth restriction), we selected 564 women with available mid-pregnancy biometry.

Instructing Ultrasound-guided Examination Techniques Using a Social Media Smartphone App.

Social media applications on smartphones allow for new avenues of instruction in sports medicine and exercise sciences. This study tested the feasibility of instructing health care personnel through videos of ultrasound vascular measurements distributed by a social media messenger application. After two training sessions with an ultrasound device, voluntary physicians (n=10) and nurses (n=10) received a video for the performance of an ultrasound-guided determination of intima-media-thickness and diameter of the femoral arteries via a social media messenger application.

Intrapartum ultrasound during rotational forceps delivery: a novel tool for safety, quality control, and teaching.

Background: Operative vaginal delivery and, in particular, rotational forceps delivery require extensive training, specific skills, and dexterity. Performed correctly, it can reduce the need for difficult late second-stage cesarean delivery and its associated complications. NF1 optic pathway glioma: analyzing risk factors for visual outcome and indications to treat.

Background: The aim of the project was to identify risk factors associated with visual progression and treatment indications in pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 associated optic pathway glioma (NF1-OPG).

Methods: A multidisciplinary expert group consisting of ophthalmologists, pediatric neuro-oncologists, neurofibromatosis specialists, and neuro-radiologists involved in therapy trials assembled a cohort of children with NF1-OPG from 6 European countries with complete clinical, imaging, and visual outcome datasets. Using methods developed during a consensus workshop, visual and imaging data were reviewed by the expert team and analyzed to identify associations between factors at diagnosis with visual and imaging outcomes.

Objectives: To explore the association between fetal umbilical and middle cerebral artery (MCA) Doppler abnormalities and outcome in late preterm pregnancies at risk of fetal growth restriction.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study of singleton pregnancies at risk of fetal growth restriction at 32 + 0 to 36 + 6 weeks of gestation, enrolled in 33 European centers between 2017 and 2018, in which umbilical and fetal MCA Doppler velocimetry was performed. Pregnancies were considered at risk of fetal growth restriction if they had estimated fetal weight and/or abdominal circumference (AC) < 10 percentile, abnormal arterial Doppler and/or a fall in AC growth velocity of more than 40 percentile points from the 20-week scan.
