Purpose: Quality assessment of the treatment plans in the Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) HYPO trial was carried out based on prospectively reported dosimetric parameters and evidence-based dose constraints for whole breast radiation therapy were derived.

Materials And Methods: From 2009 to 2014, 1882 patients (pts) were randomised between 50 Gy/25fractions (fr) versus 40 Gy/15fr. Doses to CTVp_breast (V, V-V, D, and in addition for 40 Gy plans V-V), ipsilateral lung (V/V), heart (V/V V/V), and left anterior descending coronary artery (LADCA) (D) and use of respiratory gated technique were prospectively reported to the DBCG database.

Purpose: Given the poor results using hypofractionated radiotherapy for early breast cancer, a dose of 50 Gy in 25 fractions (fr) has been the standard regimen used by the Danish Breast Cancer Group (DBCG) since 1982. Results from more recent trials have stimulated a renewed interest in hypofractionation, and the noninferiority DBCG HYPO trial (ClincalTrials.gov identifier: NCT00909818) was designed to determine whether a dose of 40 Gy in 15 fr does not increase the occurrence of breast induration at 3 years compared with a dose of 50 Gy in 25 fr.

We present a 32-year-old man with successful treatment and remission of mycosis fungoides of both axillae in 2016 after PUVA therapy and systemic and local administration of corticosteroids. Subsequently, in 2017, the patient also achieved remission of a T-cell CD 30 positive, ALK-1 negative large-cell lymphoma of a retroperitoneal and inguinal lymph node after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. One year later, in 2018, the patient presented to our clinic with progression of skin lesions in both axillary areas and the appearance of а tumor in the right gluteal region.

Computerized 4-choice reaction time test for the measurement of psychomotor recovery after general anesthesia.

J Clin Monit Comput

August 2020

Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Pain Management, Teaching Hospital Dresden-Friedrichstadt, Friedrichstrasse 41, 01067, Dresden, Germany.

The recovery of patients after general anesthesia is usually estimated by using clinical scores. Since there is a lack of objective methods for assessing psychomotor recovery, the aim of this study was to evaluate three psychological tests for this purpose. Patients, scheduled for ambulatory gynecological surgery, underwent 3 standard psychological tests before (T1), 15 min after the surgery (T2) and on discharge from the recovery room (T3).

Age-dependent modification of the facial subcutaneous white adipose tissue (sWAT) connected with reduction of its volume, modification of collagen content and adhesion between dermal and adipose layers can significantly influence mechanical stability of the skin and cause the development of aging symptoms such as wrinkles. Typical aging appearance in facial skin is at least partly connected with special phenotypical features of facial preadipocytes and mature adipocytes. In this paper, we have discussed the possible roles of local inflammation, compartmental structure of facial sWAT and trans-differentiation processes such as beiging of white adipocytes and adipocyte-myofibroblast transition in facial skin aging.

Atopic dermatitis and the metabolic syndrome.

Clin Dermatol

August 2018

Department of Dermatology and Allergology, Academic Teaching Hospital Dresden-Friedrichstadt, Dresden, Germany. Electronic address:

Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting about 10% to 20% of the general population. Disturbances in lipid metabolism contribute to defective lipid lamellae of the stratum corneum. The relationship of the metabolic syndrome and atopic dermatitis, on the contrary, remains unclear, because there are contradictory results from various trials.

Objectives: The skin is a dynamic, visible organ, showing the most obvious signs of aging. The mechanisms of extrinsic aging, most of them presented in this paper, are currently well known and also the only ones that can be counteracted. Therefore, the transition of this knowledge in the general population is of the most importance, in order to introduce healthy aging strategies, to prevent the development of chronic or malignant diseases and psychological burden related to old age.

A comparative study of machine learning methods for time-to-event survival data for radiomics risk modelling.

Sci Rep

October 2017

OncoRay - National Center for Radiation Research in Oncology, Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Technische Universität Dresden, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden - Rossendorf, Dresden, Germany.

Unlabelled: Radiomics applies machine learning algorithms to quantitative imaging data to characterise the tumour phenotype and predict clinical outcome. For the development of radiomics risk models, a variety of different algorithms is available and it is not clear which one gives optimal results. Therefore, we assessed the performance of 11 machine learning algorithms combined with 12 feature selection methods by the concordance index (C-Index), to predict loco-regional tumour control (LRC) and overall survival for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
