Anomalous transport in low dimensional spin chains is an intriguing topic that can offer key insights into the interplay of integrability and symmetry in many-body dynamics. Recent studies have shown that spin-spin correlations in spin chains, where integrability is either perfectly preserved or broken by symmetry-preserving interactions, fall in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class. Similarly, energy transport can show ballistic or diffusive-like behavior.

X-ray structural elucidation, supramolecular self-assembly, and energetics of existential noncovalent interactions for a triad comprising α-diketone, α-ketoimine, and an imidorhenium complex are highlighted in this report. Molecular packing reveals a self-assembled 2D network stabilized by the C-H···O H-bonds for the α-diketone (benzil), and the first structural report of Brown and Sadanaga stressing on the prevalence of seems to be an oversimplified conjecture. In the α-ketoimine, the imine nitrogen atom undergoes intramolecular N···H interaction to render itself inert toward intermolecular C-H···N interaction and exhibits two types of C-H···O H-bonds in consequence to generate a self-assembled 2D molecular architecture.

The structures of protein complexes allow us to understand and modulate the biological functions of the proteins. Integrative docking is a computational method to obtain the structures of a protein complex, given the atomic structures of the constituent proteins along with other experimental data on the complex, such as chemical crosslinks or SAXS profiles. Here, we develop a new discrete geometry-based method, wall-EASAL, for integrative rigid docking of protein pairs given the structures of the constituent proteins and chemical crosslinks.

India's healthcare landscape is characterized by a multitude of public and private healthcare providers, yet its health systems remain weak in many areas. Informal healthcare providers (IHPs) bridge this gap, particularly in rural India, and are deeply embedded within local communities. While their importance is widely recognized, there is a knowledge gap regarding the specifics of their social networks with actors in health systems.

Insecticide resistance (IR) poses a significant global challenge to public health and welfare. Here, we develop a locally-acting unitary self-eliminating allelic-drive system, inserted into the Drosophila melanogaster yellow (y) locus. The drive cassette encodes both Cas9 and a single gRNA to bias inheritance of the favored wild-type (1014 L) allele over the IR (1014 F) variant of the voltage-gated sodium ion channel (vgsc) target locus.

The substantial build-up of non-biodegradable plastic waste from packaging sector not only poses severe environmental threats but also hastens the depletion of natural petroleum-based resources. Presently, poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxy valerate) (PHBV), received enormous attention as ideal alternatives for such traditional petroleum-derived plastics based on their biocompatibility and superior mechanical properties. However, high cost of such copolymer, due to expensive nature of feedstock, inefficient microbial processes and unfavorable downstream processing strategies restricts its large-scale commercial feasibility in the packaging sector.

Alternative transcription initiation (ATI) appears to be a ubiquitous regulatory mechanism of gene expression in eukaryotes. However, the extent to which it affects the products of gene expression and how it evolves and is regulated remain unknown. Here, we report genome-wide identification and analysis of transcription start sites (TSSs) in various soybean (Glycine max) tissues using a survey of transcription initiation at promoter elements with high-throughput sequencing (STRIPE-seq).

The conventional idea that a well-defined protein structure governs its functions is being challenged by the evolving significance of conformational flexibility and disorder in influencing protein activity. Here, we focus on the Small Ubiquitin-like MOdifier 1 (SUMO1) protein, a post-translational modifier, which binds various target proteins during the process of SUMOylation. We present evidence supporting the presence of both folded and "ordered" molten globule (MG) states in SUMO1 under physiological conditions.

Mental illnesses have a significant impact on the lives of people not only because of their morbidity but also because of their noticeable impact on economic wellbeing. Out-of-pocket expenditure for mental healthcare services is significant in India and may even lead to impoverishment of the families. The present paper states that Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is necessary for mental healthcare primarily because of its rising cost and competing interests in government decisions and prioritization.

Unlabelled: Far removed from the agricultural fire "hotspots" of Northwestern India, rice residue burning is on the rise in Eastern India with implications for regional air quality and agricultural sustainability. The underlying drivers contributing to the increase in burning have been linked to the adoption of mechanized (combine) harvesting but, in general, are inadequately understood. We hypothesize that the adoption of burning as a management practice results from a set of socio-technical interactions rather than emerging from a single factor.

In photo-induced charge separation, organic thin films with donor and acceptor chromophores are vital for uses such as artificial photosynthesis and photodetection. The main challenges include optimizing charge separation efficiency and identifying the ideal acceptor/donor ratio. Achieving this is difficult due to the variability in molecular configurations within these typically amorphous organic aggregates.

Notch1 and Notch2, transmembrane receptors belonging to the Notch family, are pivotal mediators of intercellular communication and have profound implications including cell fate determination, embryonic development, and tissue homeostasis in various cellular processes. Despite their structural homology, Notch1 and Notch2 exhibit discrete phenotypic characteristics and functional nuances that necessitate their individualized targeting in specific medical scenarios. Aberrant Notch signaling, often driven by the dysregulated activity of one receptor over the other, is implicated under various pathological conditions.

The vasculature of the skeletal system is crucial for bone formation, homoeostasis and fracture repair, yet the diversity and specialization of bone-associated vessels remain poorly understood. Here we identify a specialized type of post-arterial capillary, termed type R, involved in bone remodelling. Type R capillaries emerge during adolescence around trabecular bone, possess a distinct morphology and molecular profile, and are associated with osteoprogenitors and bone-resorbing osteoclasts.
