Purpose: Limb salvage procedures for musculoskeletal tumors have inherent complications. Though most complications can be managed with retention of the reconstructions, occasionally salvaging these reconstructions is not possible. We evaluated the outcomes of patients undergoing rotationplasty after multiple failed revisions of limb salvage surgery and document the success rate of this "salvage" technique and the subsequent functional outcome of these patients.

Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is an enigmatic tumor. Despite its benign histological appearance and clinical behavior in most cases, it is associated with recurrences, uncommonly metastasis, and rarely with a malignant transformation. During the last few years, there has been a significant evolution in the diagnosis and management of GCTB, including discoveries related to the underlying pathogenesis (RANK/RANK/OPG pathway), with treatment-related implications in the form of denosumab (approved inhibitor for targeting RANKL), leading to improved surgical resections, especially in cases of recurrent, large and borderline resectable tumors.

Extended and beyond total mesorectal excisions (TME) for advanced and recurrent rectal cancers are increasingly performed with acceptable oncological and functional outcomes. These are undoubtedly due to better understanding of tumor biology and improved patient selection rather than surgical valor and technical refinements alone. In the present review, we attempt to present the current surgical standards for advanced and recurrent cancers requiring surgery outside the TME planes based on involved pelvic compartments.

Background: Unaddressed high distress leads to noncompliance with treatment, negatively affects quality of life, and may also have a negative impact on the prognosis of cancer patients. Patients with brain tumors have higher levels of distress than the general population and hence we hypothesize that even routine visits during adjuvant treatment or follow-up are likely to be stressful. This analysis was performed to identify the incidence of distress and factors affecting it.
