Rahul Krishnatry The aim of this study was to translate and validate the European Organization for Research and Treatment for Cancer (EORTC) "Radiation Proctitis" (PRT-20) module in Hindi, Marathi, and Bangla languages. The EORTC PRT-20 was translated into Hindi, Marathi, and Bangla using EORTC guidelines. Two separate translators first translated the original questionnaire into the three regional languages, following which a reconciled forward translation was compiled.

A Prospective Study to Evaluate the Effect of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring-Based Posaconazole Prophylaxis on Invasive Fungal Infection Rate During Acute Myeloid Leukemia Induction Therapy.

Unlabelled: Invasive fungal infections (IFIs) are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in de-novo acute myeloid leukemia patients receiving induction chemotherapy. Despite using posaconazole, a broad-spectrum antifungal, for IFI prophylaxis, the breakthrough IFI rate is high in the real-world setting. One of the reasons could be frequent suboptimal plasma posaconazole levels.

N0 neck trial: Does intensification of follow-up (Ultrasound + Physical Examination) influence outcomes in early-stage oral cancer?

Aim Of The Study: We previously reported a survival benefit of elective neck dissection (END) over therapeutic neck dissection (TND) in patients with clinically node-negative early-stage oral cancer. We now report the results of the second question in the same study addressing the impact of adding neck ultrasound to physical examination during follow-up on outcomes.

Methods: Patients with lateralized T1/T2 oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) were randomized to END or TND and to follow-up with physical-examination plus neck ultrasound (PE+US) versus physical-examination (PE).

Key players of immunosuppression in epithelial malignancies: Tumor-infiltrating myeloid cells and γδ T cells.

Background: The tumor microenvironment of solid tumors governs the differentiation of otherwise non-immunosuppressive macrophages and gamma delta (γδ) T cells into strong immunosuppressors while promoting suppressive abilities of known immunosuppressors such as myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) upon infiltration into the tumor beds.

Recent Findings: In epithelial malignancies, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), precursor monocytic MDSCs (M-MDSCs), and gamma delta (γδ) T cells often acquire strong immunosuppressive abilities that dampen spontaneous immune responses by tumor-infiltrating T cells and B lymphocytes against cancer. Both M-MDSCs and γδ T cells have been associated with worse prognosis for multiple epithelial cancers.

Dab2 (Disabled-2), an adaptor protein, regulates self-renewal of hair follicle stem cells.

Disabled 2 (Dab2), an adaptor protein, is up regulated in the hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs); however, its role in any tissue stem cells has not been studied. In the present study, we have reported that Dab2 conditional knockout (Dab2-cKO) mice exhibited a delay in the HF cycle due to perturbed activation of HFSCs. Further, Dab2-cKO mice showed a reduction in the number of HFSCs and reduced colony forming ability of HFSCs.

Aim: To evaluate relationship between metabolic PET metabolic parameters and size of the primary tumor, various histopathological subtypes of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and Fuhrman grade of the tumors.

Material And Methods: Retrospective analysis of 93 biopsy-proven RCC patients who underwent pretreatment flourine 18 flourodeoxyglucose PET/computed tomography ( 18 F FDG PET/CT) was performed. Quantitative PET parameters, size of the primary tumor, histopathological subtypes and Fuhrman grades of the tumor were extracted.

Does the use of intraoperative frozen section of bone marrow from the cut end of the mandible help assess the adequacy of bone margins following mandibulectomy for oral cancer?

Background: The adequacy of the cut end of the mandible following a segmental mandibulectomy done for oral cancer intraoperatively is at times assessed using a frozen section (FS) of the bone marrow (BM) at the cut ends. The study aimed to assess its utility to guide the intraoperative decision on the adequacy of bony margins.

Materials And Methods: All patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) who underwent segmental mandibulectomy from January 2012 to December 2021 at our institute and for whom intraoperative FS of BM was utilized were included.

REDISCOVER guidelines for borderline-resectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer: management algorithm, unanswered questions, and future perspectives.

The REDISCOVER guidelines present 34 recommendations for the selection and perioperative care of borderline-resectable (BR-PDAC) and locally advanced ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas (LA-PDAC). These guidelines represent a significant shift from previous approaches, prioritizing tumor biology over anatomical features as the primary indication for resection. Condensed herein, they provide a practical management algorithm for clinical practice.

A prospective study to assess cervical scar satisfaction following conventional open thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer.

Background: Conventional open thyroidectomy (COT) remains a common method of thyroidectomy in many parts of the world for various reasons.

Methods: In this prospective (cross-sectional) study, we evaluated the scar satisfaction among patients and surgeons following COT using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS) and the Patient Scar Assessment Questionnaire (PSAQ).

Results: A total of 116 patients were included.

Background: The EORTC QLQ-STO22 (QLQ-STO22) is a firmly established and validated measure of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for people with gastric cancer (GC), developed over two decades ago. Since then there have been dramatic changes in treatment options for GC. Also, East Asian patients were not involved in the development of QLQ-STO22, where GC is most prevalent and the QLQ-STO22 is widely used.

Growing the global cancer care system: success stories from around the world and lessons for the future.

Despite major biomedical advancements in various realms of oncology, the benefits of these developments are not equitably distributed, particularly in underresourced settings. Although much work has described the challenges and systemic barriers in global cancer control, in this article we focus on success stories. This article describes clinical care delivered at Rwanda's Butaro Cancer Center of Excellence, the cancer research collaborations under India's National Cancer Grid, and the efforts of Latin America's Institute of Cancer of São Paulo in advancing cancer care and training.

Discovery of Novel Diesters Incorporating Kojic Acid With NSAIDs and Palmitic Acid as Dual Inhibitor of Melanogenesis and Inflammation.

Our study focuses on creating hybrid compounds and assessing their suitability for use in skincare products. The synergistic combination of Kojic acid, NSAIDs, and Palmitic acid proved to be an effective approach in inhibiting melanin production, making it a promising solution for individuals with hyperpigmentation concerns with Kojic acid (KA) Ibuprofen monoester (IBUM) and Ibuprofen-Kojic acid-Palmitic acid diester (IBUD) exhibiting a potential tyrosinase (38 % and 49 % inhibition at 200 µM) and anti-melanogenesis activity (77 % and 79 % inhibition at 100 µM). Furthermore, these compounds exhibited potent anti-inflammatory effects, Kojic acid-Diclofenac monoester (DICM) and Diclofenac-Kojic acid-Palmitic acid diester (DICD) offering potential benefits for inflammation by lowering the paw volume.

Outcome of early detection approach in control of breast, cervical, and oral cancer: Experience from a rural cancer center in India.

In low- and middle-income countries most of the cancer patients attend the hospital at a late stage and treatment completion of these cases is challenging. The early detection program (EDP), in rural areas of Punjab state, India was initiated to identify breast, cervical, and oral cancer at an early stage by raising awareness and providing easy access to diagnosis and treatment. A total of 361 health education programs and 99 early detection clinics were organized.

Clinical outcomes of adaptive intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy technique in locally advanced cervical cancer: A real-world data.

Purpose: To evaluate clinical outcomes of CT-based adaptive intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy (IC followed by IC-ISBT) in locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) in resource-constrained settings.

Methods And Materials: LACC patients treated with adaptive brachytherapy techniques were analyzed to evaluate treatment characteristics and clinical outcomes. The Kaplan-Meier method was used for survival analysis, and the log-rank test for univariate analysis.

An Open-Label, Single-Arm, Multicenter, Observational Study Evaluating the Safety and Effectiveness of Akynzeo® in the Management of Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting in India.

Background Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting is a common and unpleasant treatment-related side effect reported by cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Akynzeo® or NEPA (NEtupitant + PAlonosetron) is the first fixed combination of netupitant and palonosetron that targets both critical pathways involved in emesis while providing a convenient, single oral dose therapy. The current study aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of NEPA in a real-world setting in India.

Elevated cobalt levels in metal-on-polyethylene knee megaprostheses: a prospective 1-year cohort study of 56 patients with hip and knee megaprostheses.

Background And Purpose: Concerns have emerged regarding elevated levels of cobalt and chromium in patients with metal-on-metal megaprostheses. This prospective study aims to identify systemic cobalt and chromium levels in metal-on-polyethylene knee and hip megaprostheses and their associations with other factors.

Methods: 56 patients underwent knee or hip megaprosthesis surgery at 2 sarcoma centers.

Patterns of quality assurance and treatment planning for stereotactic body radiation therapy in India - A survey.

Aim: The use of stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) is an increasing trend in the country. The aim of this study is to gain knowledge on patterns of quality assurance (QA) and treatment planning (TP) aspects with respect to SBRT.

Materials And Methods: A questionnaire with multiple choice was designed to determine practices of SBRT covering areas such as years of experience, type of linear accelerator, tumor-motion strategies, calculation algorithm used in the TP system (TPS), the protocol used for small field dosimetry, the detector used for small field dosimetry and QA, respiratory management during delivery.

A prospective health economic evaluation to determine the productivity loss due to premature mortality from oral cancer in India.

Introduction: India contributes two-thirds of the global mortality due to oral cancer and has a younger population at risk. The societal costs of this premature mortality are barely discussed.

Methods: Using the human capital approach, we aimed to estimate the productivity lost due to premature mortality, valued using individual socioeconomic data, related to oral cancer in India.
