Background: After improvement in the treatment of oral cancers over the years we now see more patients with recurrent oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and second primary. Recommendations for addressing the neck (ipsilateral and/or contralateral) in these patients are still unclear and debatable.
Methods: In this retrospective study we included patients with recurrent and second primary OSCC who underwent surgery between January 2016 and December 2021.

Background: The adequacy of the cut end of the mandible following a segmental mandibulectomy done for oral cancer intraoperatively is at times assessed using a frozen section (FS) of the bone marrow (BM) at the cut ends. The study aimed to assess its utility to guide the intraoperative decision on the adequacy of bony margins.
Materials And Methods: All patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) who underwent segmental mandibulectomy from January 2012 to December 2021 at our institute and for whom intraoperative FS of BM was utilized were included.

Pediatric brain tumors are the primary cause of death in children with cancer. Diffuse midline glioma (DMG) and diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) are frequently unresectable due to their difficult access location, and 5-year survival remains less than 20%. Despite significant advances in tumor biology and genetics, treatment options remain limited and ineffective.

The incidence of breast cancer is increasing rapidly in urban India due to the changing lifestyle and exposure to risk factors. Diagnosis at an advanced stage and in younger women are the most concerning issues of breast cancer in India. Lack of awareness and social taboos related to cancer diagnosis make women feel hesitant to seek timely medical advice.

Background: Multiple factors contribute to recurrences in differentiated thyroid cancers (DTC). Though the nodal size and number of positive nodes along with the presence of extranodal extension (ENE) have been mentioned in the present ATA risk stratification, the weightage given for ENE seems inadequate compared to the former two.
Methodology: Factors predicting recurrences were analysed in this retrospective study of patients with DTC operated in a tertiary care centre.

Background: Treatment of lymph node basins is prognostic and therapeutic for axillary lymph nodes (ALN) as well as internal mammary lymph nodes (IMLNs) in breast cancer. IMLNs can be the first echelon node for the inner/central quadrants of the breast. We evaluated the yield of IMLN dissection (IMLND) mainly in patients with inner and central tumors.

Aim: Although complete mesocolic excision (CME) for colon cancer is oncologically sound, to date, there has been no consensus on the extent of lymphadenectomy in radical right colectomy. This study essentially compared the perioperative and survival outcomes of CME with two templates of lymphadenectomy for right colon cancer.
Method: This was a propensity matched, retrospective analysis of a single centre, prospectively maintained database of all patients undergoing elective right colectomy for nonmetastatic, biopsy-proven adenocarcinoma from November 2013 to October 2018.

Importance: Patients with early breast cancer must choose between undergoing breast conservation surgery or mastectomy. This decision is often difficult as there are trade-offs between breast conservation and adverse effects, and women with higher decisional conflict have a harder time choosing the therapy that suits their preferences.
Objective: To study the impact of a decision aid with a patient preference assessment tool for surgical decision-making on patients' decisional conflict scale (DCS) score.

Tumors of the Central nervous System (CNS) are a spectrum of neoplasms that range from benign lesions to highly malignant and aggressive lesions. Despite aggressive multimodal treatment approaches, the morbidity and mortality are high with dismal survival outcomes in these malignant tumors. Moreover, the non-specificity of conventional treatments substantiates the rationale for precise therapeutic strategies that selectively target infiltrating tumor cells within the brain, and minimize systemic and collateral damage.

Background: The role of post-mastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) for breast cancer is controversial when 3-or-less lymph nodes are metastatic. Apart from local control, survival and toxicity, cost also plays an important role in decision-making.
Methods: A Markov model was designed to assess cost, health outcomes and cost-effectiveness of different radiotherapy techniques for management of PMRT patients.

The most recent version of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Clinical Practice Guidelines for the diagnosis, staging and treatment of patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) was published in 2021. A special, hybrid guidelines meeting was convened by ESMO and the Korean Society of Medical Oncology (KSMO) in collaboration with nine other Asian national oncology societies in May 2022 in order to adapt the ESMO 2021 guidelines to take into account the differences associated with the treatment of MBC in Asia. These guidelines represent the consensus opinions reached by a panel of Asian experts in the treatment of patients with MBC representing the oncological societies of China (CSCO), India (ISMPO), Indonesia (ISHMO), Japan (JSMO), Korea (KSMO), Malaysia (MOS), the Philippines (PSMO), Singapore (SSO), Taiwan (TOS) and Thailand (TSCO).

Introduction: Gender discrimination (GD) though rarely blatant, may present indirectly within a surgical department in the form of subtle inequities, differing standards, and bias. GD encompasses a wide spectrum including academic development, surgical opportunities and sexual harassment.
Methods: We conducted an online survey to analyse the perceived incidence of GD in the surgical oncology department at a tertiary care cancer centre in India.
