Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis (EDKA) though rare is a life-threatening complication of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. With their increasing use in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) due to long-term beneficial effects, the incidence of this complication is on the rise. We report a case of a 58-year-old lady with a history of T2DM on multiple anti-diabetes medications including dapagliflozin for one year, who during intercurrent illness developed EDKA.

Central venous catheter insertion in the internal jugular vein (IJV) is frequently performed in acute care settings, facilitated by its easy availability and increased use of ultrasound in healthcare settings. Despite the increased safety profile and insertion convenience, it has complications. Herein, we aim to inform readers about the existing literature on the plethora of complications with potentially disastrous consequences for patients undergoing IJV cannulation.

Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative disorder of the knee, which leads to joint pain, stiffness, and inactivity and significantly affects the quality of life. With an increased prevalence of obesity and greater life expectancies, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is now one of the major arthroplasty surgeries performed for knee osteoarthritis. When enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) was introduced in TKA, clinical outcomes were enhanced and the economic burden on the healthcare system was reduced.

Introduction: Considering the inherent vulnerability of immunoassays for heterophilic interference and the potential of Rheumatoid Factor (RF) to act as a heterophile-like antibody, we conducted this study to investigate if RF leads to any such heterophilic interference in seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. The study was done on the TSH assay as it is a noncompetitive, double antibody sandwich assay, which is known to be vulnerable to heterophilic interference.
Methods: In this cross-sectional observational study, eighty-four consecutive newly diagnosed RF-positive RA patients underwent TSH, Free T4, and anti-TPO estimation using the chemiluminescence technique (CLIA) on Siemens Immulite 1000 platform.

This technical report focuses on developing a do-it-yourself (DIY) model of a water phantom for training in ultrasound-guided needle insertion techniques. Ultrasound technology is becoming more widely used in perioperative and intensive care settings. However, accurate needle placement using ultrasound guidance necessitates strong spatial reasoning and hand-eye coordination.

The umbilical cord, as a connecting bridge between two lives, plays an important role in fetal development. Though studies on the umbilical cord date back many years, extensive studies on certain umbilical cord characteristics, such as umbilical cord coiling, are rare. Cord coiling, measured by the umbilical coiling index, is a physiological phenomenon that offers resistance to external pressures.

Reference genes are used as internal reaction controls for gene expression analysis, and for this reason, they are considered reliable and must meet several important criteria. In view of the absence of studies regarding the best reference gene for the analysis of acute leukemia patients, a panel of genes commonly used as endogenous controls was selected from the literature for stability analysis: Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (), Abelson murine leukemia viral oncogene human homolog 1 (), Hypoxanthine phosphoribosyl-transferase 1 (), Ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P0 (), β-actin () and TATA box binding protein (). The stability of candidate reference genes was analyzed according to three statistical methods of assessment, namely, NormFinder, GeNorm and R software (version 4.

A transient vision loss is not commonly encountered during the postoperative period following a caesarean section. Although numerous causes have been suggested for transient vision loss, when loss of vision is associated with seizures and headaches, the differential diagnoses include hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, low platelet syndrome, reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), dural venous thrombosis, and central retinal arteriolar occlusion. We report a case of a 35-year-old patient who underwent an elective caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia and developed a headache followed by loss of vision and seizures during the postoperative period.

Introduction: Airway ultrasound has recently promised to be a valuable addition to preoperative airway assessment tools. This study was undertaken to determine the efficacy of ultrasound-guided measurement of soft tissue thickness (STT) at various levels of the anterior neck in predicting difficult airways in an eastern Indian population.
Objective: The primary objective was to find out the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of anterior neck soft tissue thickness at the level of the hyoid (STT-Hyoid) and vocal cords (STT-VC), distance from the skin to the epiglottis midway (DSEM), and the ratio of the depth of the pre-epiglottic space (Pre-E) to the distance from the epiglottis to the mid-point of the vocal cords (E-VC).
