Biomarkers have the potential to play a crucial role in managing gallbladder cancer post-surgery. They can identify patients more likely to experience a recurrence, allowing oncologists to tailor a more intensive surveillance plan and consider additional therapies. Some biomarkers can even predict how well a patient will respond to specific chemotherapy or targeted treatments.

Background and objective Beta-blockers are a cornerstone in the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), effectively reducing myocardial oxygen demand, preventing recurrent ischemia, and lowering the risk of arrhythmias and reinfarction. Despite several established guidelines, such as those by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA), advocating their use within 24 hours for eligible patients, beta-blockers remain underutilized in clinical practice. This study aimed to analyze beta-blocker utilization patterns in ACS management and evaluate the impact of targeted improvement initiatives on their appropriate use in eligible ACS patients.

Perioperative management of antiplatelet therapy involves a delicate balancing of the risk of periprocedural blood loss with the cardiovascular and thrombotic risk to the patient. Due to the unique nature of neurosurgery, perioperative bleeding may have devastating consequences and cause major morbidity and mortality. The recommendation to discontinue aspirin prior to major neurosurgical procedures rests upon conventional practice, expert consensus with priority given to avoidance of any major bleed.

Prostate cancer involving visceral organs are occurrences in the later disease course, usually following regional nodal and skeletal involvement, and are refractory to conventional treatment. A 61-year-old male patient presented with locally advanced disease at presentation, which progressed on androgen deprivation therapy and systemic therapy with involvement of the visceral organs (lungs and liver). Portal venous tumor thrombosis involving the right and main branch was also observed on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which showed intense uptake on Ga-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography ( Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT) and F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT ( F-FDG-PET/CT).

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common disorder in females, which significantly affects the quality of life in females. There are many consensus that describe the safety of childbearing after surgery for SUI, but still, a large proportion of surgeons worldwide recommend that women should wait to complete childbearing before pursuing surgical treatment for SUI. There is also some opinion that if patients conceive after surgical treatment for SUI, women should be delivered by cesarean section.

Adaptive radiotherapy (ART) refers to methods that allow a radiation therapy plan to be adjusted based on images obtained during the treatment. Using cutting-edge imaging methods such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET), ART can adjust the treatment plan in response to observed changes in anatomy and even biology while the patient is receiving treatment. The backbone of ART is intensity-modulated RT (IMRT), which permits better sparing of normal critical organs while still delivering a uniform dose to target tumor volume.

Background: Mastectomy and breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap (LDF) is a major surgery that covers eight or more dermatomes causing severe pain in the postoperative period.
Objectives: We evaluated the analgesic effect of a hybrid technique of ultrasound-guided combined thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) and erector spinae plane block (ESPB) in a single needle pass in ten consecutive patients scheduled for mastectomy with LDF reconstruction as a part of a multimodal analgesia regimen.
Design: Prospective observational study.

Henri Coutard was a prominent French roentgen therapist (radiation therapist). He was a pioneer physician and scientist who established the development of the "protracted-fractional method" of radiation dosing. He treated laryngeal cancer with super-voltage x-rays and also published data on five-year survival rates while his contemporary physicians indulged in treating cancer with radioactive sources.
