Objectives: This study investigated the possible prognostic factors for the long-term survival (Cure Rate) of Hodgkin Lymphoma patients who underwent HSCT.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed 116 Patients diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma who received autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Auto-HSCT) between the years 2007 and 2014 and followed up until 2017. The information regarding patients' survival had been collected using phone calls, and their pre-transplant information was available in the archived documents.

Allogeneic tissue transplantation is one of the most effective treatments for several diseases and injuries, in particular, malignant and non-malignant hematological conditions. Following this procedure, transplanted tissue encounters various complications, one of the most serious being graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). The management of GvHD directly affects the success of transplantation and the survival rate of the patient; therefore, many studies have focused on GvHD prevention and control.

Background: The p53 mutation is uncommon in Epstein–Barr virus-linked gastric carcinoma, but its suppression occurs through mechanisms such as ubiquitin specific peptidase 7 (USP7) inhibitions via Epstein–Barr virus nuclear antigen-1 (EBNA1) activity. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of EBNA1 on p53-inhibiting gene expression and the impact of USP7 inhibition on p53 suppression.
Methods: MKN-45 cells were transfected with the EBNA1 plasmid.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) electrospun scaffolds have recently been developed for cardiac tissue engineering applications thanks to their piezoelectricity. However, PVDFs' hydrophobic nature requires modifications by incorporating natural polymers. In this study, we focussed on the hybrid electrospinning of PVDF and gelatine and the further introduction of graphene oxide nanoparticles to investigate either hydrophilicity or piezoelectricity enhancement and its impact on mouse embryonic cardiomyocytes.

Bacteria blight is one of the most serious bacterial diseases of rice worldwide. The identification of genetic potential against bacterial blight in the existing rice resources is a prerequisite to develop multigenic resistance to combat the threat of climate change. This investigation was conducted to evaluate alleles variation in 38 Malaysian cultivars using thirteen Simple Sequences Repeats markers and one Sequence Tagged Sites (STS) marker which were reported to be linked with the resistance to bacterial blight.

It is believed that preformed antibodies are responsible for blood transfusion reactions and transplant rejections. In order to remove a tumor, the tissue must be rejected. On the basis of transfusion reaction and transplantation immunology, we hypothesized that allogeneic serum can inhibit tumor growth when injected intra-tumor.

Objective: Insulin insufficiency due to the reduced pancreatic beta cell number is the hallmark of diabetes, resulting in
an intense focus on the development of beta-cell replacement options. One approach to overcome the problem is to
search for alternative sources to induce insulin-producing cells (IPCs), the advent of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)
holds great promise for producing ample IPCs. Encapsulate the MSCs with alginate improved anti-inflammatory effects
of MSC treatment.

CD20 is a receptor expressed on B cells with anonymous functions. The receptor is the target of some food and drug administration (FDA) approved monoclonal antibodies (mAb), such as Rituximab and Obinutuzumab. Blocking CD20 using the aforementioned mAbs has improved Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) therapy.

Oxidative stress during cryopreservation causes mechanical, biochemical, and structural damage to the sperm, leading to lower viability and fertility potential. In recent years, a novel method based on the use of mild stress for preconditioning of sperm before cryopreservation has been applied to improve the quality of thawed sperm, although its molecular mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the protective effects of sublethal oxidative stress by xanthine oxidase (XO) on thawed bull sperm performance through modulations of mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) expression.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are a group of bone marrow-derived cells that play a crucial role in innate and acquired immune responses. Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDC) are used in many studies, so the efficiency and purity of the differentiated cells are essential. This study aimed to investigate the effect of several parameters, including the age of mice, cell culture medium, and swirling of the culture plate, to increase the efficiency of the induced cells, considering the standard protocols.

In this study, a comprehensive model was developed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and the behaviour of a direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) system was investigated at hypersaline feedwater conditions. The effects of various operating parameters including feed and permeate velocities, temperatures and salinities, as well as different membrane characteristics like thickness, porosity, and thermal conductivity were studied. The developed simulation model was also validated using experimental data.

COVID-19 is one of the viral diseases that has caused many deaths and financial losses to humans. Using the available information, this virus appears to activate the host cell-death mechanism through Calpain activation. Calpain inhibition can stop its downstream cascade reactions that cause cell death.

Multiple efforts are currently underway to control and treat severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide. Despite all efforts, the virus that emerged in Wuhan city has rapidly spread globally and led to a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) due to the lack of approved antiviral therapy. Nevertheless, SARS-CoV-2 has had a significant influence on the evolution of cellular therapeutic approaches.

Phosphorylation of proteins is one of the most significant post-translational modifications (PTMs) and plays a crucial role in plant functionality due to its impact on signaling, gene expression, enzyme kinetics, protein stability and interactions. Accurate prediction of plant phosphorylation sites (p-sites) is vital as abnormal regulation of phosphorylation usually leads to plant diseases. However, current experimental methods for PTM prediction suffers from high-computational cost and are error-prone.

This review discusses recent advances and the reported strategies over the last ten years on the use of carbon-based quantum dots (QDs), including carbon dots (CDs), graphene quantum dots (GQDs), and polymer dots (PDs) in the design of fluorescence imaging and biosensing system for early diagnosis of cancers. Besides, this study comprehensively reports the latest developments in these years in the fluorescence imaging (FI) area with special attention to carbon-based QDs that take advantage of the excellent properties offered by these zero-dimensional (0D) nanomaterials as fluorescent tags. The most remarkable advantages of these carbon nanomaterials in the development of fluorescence sensing and imaging strategies compared to the conventional dyes arise from sharp emission spectra, long photostability, low-cost synthesis, reliability, reproducibility, high fluorescent intensity, and high surface functional groups such as carboxyl and amide, which impart better solubility in many solvents and aqueous media and facilitate their easy functionalization with biological species.
