Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate how the neutrophil percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR) changes during treatment with bortezomib-lenalidomide-dexamethasone (VRD) in multiple myeloma patients and its relationship with patient prognosis.
  • Researchers analyzed data from 80 multiple myeloma patients who underwent VRD treatment over two years, measuring NPAR at various stages of the chemotherapy cycles and following patient outcomes for one year.
  • Results indicated that patients with poorer short-term prognosis had higher NPAR levels and lower albumin levels compared to those with better prognosis, suggesting NPAR could be a potential indicator of treatment outcomes in multiple myeloma.

Background: The long-term impact of drug-coated balloon (DCB) angioplasty for the treatment of patients with de novo coronary artery lesions remains uncertain. We aimed to assess the non-inferiority of DCB angioplasty with rescue stenting to intended drug-eluting stent (DES) deployment for patients with de novo, non-complex coronary artery lesions.

Methods: REC-CAGEFREE I was an open-label, randomised, non-inferiority trial conducted at 43 sites in China.

Article Synopsis
  • Renal denervation (RDN) was tested in a sham-controlled trial in China to see if it can effectively lower blood pressure (BP) in hypertensive patients on medication.
  • The study involved 217 participants, showing that those who underwent RDN experienced a significantly greater reduction in 24-hour ambulatory systolic BP (by -13.0 mm Hg) compared to the placebo group (by -3.0 mm Hg).
  • Overall, RDN was found to be safe, as only one minor complication occurred, and it effectively reduced both ambulatory and office BP at the 6-month mark compared to the sham procedure.

Peking University People's Hospital, Peking University Institute of Hematology, National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Disease, Beijing Key Laboratory of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Peking University, Beijing, China. Electronic address:

The FMS-related tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) inhibitor gilteritinib is standard therapy for relapsed/refractory (R/R) FLT3-mutated (FLT3) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) but the overall survival (OS) is only approximately 20 % and few patients achieve deep and/ or durable response. We retrospectively analyzed 29 R/R FLT3 AML patients treated on triplet regimens (gilteritinib+ venetoclax[VEN] +azacitidine[AZA]). Nineteen patients (65.

Purpose: We prospectively analyzed the correlation between fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and the risk of breast cancer in women; explored the independent risk factors for breast cancer in women, and compared the effect of FPG level on the risk of young and non-young breast cancer. Our study provides new evidence and ideas for research into breast cancer etiology in China, improves the accuracy of secondary prevention of breast cancer, and provides options for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients with diabetes.

Materials And Methods: Three cohorts of women participating in the first health examination of the Kailuan Group in 2006, 2008 and 2010 were assembled to conduct a descriptive analysis of the baseline data on FPG.

Transl Cancer Res

January 2024

Hebei Key Laboratory for Chronic Diseases, School of Basic Medical Sciences, North China University of Science and Technology, Tangshan, China.

Background: Histone deacetylase 3 () is known to be an important role in various kinds of cancer, but its effect has not been examined on the pancancer level. Thus, a systematic pancancer analysis was conducted to explore its potential role in pancancer diagnosis, prognosis, and immune correlation research.

Methods: We used a series of databases including The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) Project, The University of Alabama at Birmingham Cancer data analysis portal (UALCAN), Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER), and Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins (STRING), among others, to analyze the relationship between the expression of and the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer, the tumor microenvironment (TME), immune infiltration, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), mismatch repair (MMR) system using various bioinformatics methods.

Rationale: Previous studies have found that the main treatment of sinus arrest is pacemaker treatment. It is rare to have 12 s of sinus arrest after radiofrequency ablation, and whether a permanent pacemaker is implanted immediately in this case is not described in the guidelines.

Patient Concerns: A 76-year-old male patient with persistent atrial fibrillation (AF) developed sinus arrest lasting 12 s in the early morning of the fourth day after using radiofrequency ablation for pulmonary vein isolation.

Tendon adhesion is a common complication after tendon surgery. The inflammatory phase of tendon healing is characterized by the release of a large number of inflammatory factors, whose mediated excessive inflammatory response is an important cause of tendon adhesion formation. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) were used to prevent tendon adhesions by reducing the inflammatory response.
